Chapter 83 - Fated to the cursed Alpha

It had been just over two months since Victor had escaped. The pack have been on high alert since learning the truth about Victor. There had been no sign of him at all, Kane was becoming extremely overprotective, it seemed the bigger I grew, the more he thought I was incapable of doing the simplest of things. Our little pup was being soo good, Adele was extremely pleased that I hadn't had any complications. As much as the baby was active, he still hadn't started bruising me or hurting me too much.

Kane had gone completely over the top with security in the house and around the pack. We had motion sensors and heat sensors in every room. We could all check the surveillance on our phones. Kane, Ryder and Ansel were the only ones that could see the footage from the forest. It was also on the laptop in Kane's office if I wanted to see them. He also had Rose put a spell on the house, making sure nobody could enter without our acknowledgement. She wasn't even sure if it would work with the magic he was using.

I laid back on the sofa, Kala and I had been watching a film for the last hour. It was a romcom. It was nice to watch something funny and loving. It was an escape from the pressure and stress in the house. Kane has done his best to shield all the drama away from me but I wasn't stupid, I knew things weren't good. He was running himself into the ground trying to make everything perfect before our little one arrived.

I closed my eyes, relishing in the warmth of the soft cushions around me. I knew I wasn't going to see the whole movie. It had become the norm for me, as soon as I sat still a wave of tiredness would suddenly wash over me. Before I knew it, I was asleep.

I dreamt of the last happy moment we all shared in this house. It was the moment we received the phone call from Adele informing us of the blood results. It was the day Victor escaped. It was late afternoon. We all just sat down. All of us were tired. Ansel was badly injured that day. He was in so much pain. I was just so grateful he fully healed a few days after. Kane and Ryder were in and out instructing the Pack on what to do in the search for Victor.

It was a little after 4 pm when he came back into the house to check on us all when his phone began ringing in his pocket.

The moment he pulled it out from his pocket his eyes lit up, he looked up at me and I knew straight away it was Adele. Through all the stress of the day, I could see the glimmer of happiness as he answered the phone.

He answered it and put it on speakerphone as he placed it in the middle of the counter. We all huddled closer waiting for the moment she announced the sex.

“Em can hear you, we are all here” Kane informed her.

“Hi, How are you?” She asked, she always sounded so happy and chirpy.

“I'm good thankyou Adele, just feeling slightly bloated today but I'm good” I smiled down at the phone as I spoke to her.

“That is absolutely normal, the bloated feeling can last a while, it is just your abdomen stretching out. It can be a strange sensation, some women like the feeling but it makes others a bit queezy, either way totally normal”

“Did you get the Blood results back?” Kane interrupted, I could see he was impatient, I rolled my eyes at him but laughed at the same time. He was like a child at Christmas.

“Yes I did Alpha, I have everything in front of me. Everything is absolutely fine if you start on the Vitamins I gave you it will definitely help you, Like I say the more you grow the more I can help with medication and pain killers if needed.

“What about the sex?” Kane interrupted.

I smacked his arm, “Stop interrupting we need to know everything, not just the sex of the baby” I heard the others giggling to themselves.

“Yes, I have that also, I'm pleased to tell you that you will be having a strong baby boy!” I could tell she was smiling, the joy in her voice was obvious. Kane walked to me and hugged me from behind, his hands on my small belly telling us how much he loved us. Everyone else in the room got up to congratulate us, I had not felt that happy in a while with everything that was going on we needed some good news.

“There is just one more thing I want to tell you before I leave you to your celebrations” Adele's voice shouted over the noise in the room.

The sound of everyone talking died down immediately, “Go ahead” I said to her.

“You remember me telling you about the dominant Gene, how it works”

“Yes, I remember!” I confirmed.

“Dominant gene?” Ryder asked, the look on his face told me he was completely lost.

“Sorry would you like me to go over it quickly before I get to the results?” Adele asked.

“Yeah I think that's best, it's fresh in all our minds then Doc” Kane asked.

“OK, so a dominant gene is basically the rank of the wolf. It will give the parents an idea of speed strength, how powerful their wolf will be. So in simple terms, an ordinary wolf would share its wolf with the host 50/50”

“Host?” Ryder whispered.

“The human body” I answered him, trying not to laugh as he made an oooh sound like he had no idea.

“So, for Alphas, they share anywhere between eighty to ninety percent depending on how strong the Alpha bloodline is”

“So, that's where we would fall?” Kane asked.

“Not quite”, She said after a few seconds of silence.

“What do you mean?” I asked her as Kane looked at me worried.

“Your results came back at 99.4%” I continued looking at Kane, trying to work out if that was good or bad.

“What does that mean?” He asked her, beating me to it.

“Well, if I'm honest, I've never seen these results this high before, especially so early on in the pregnancy. If I'm right, as you get towards the end of your pregnancy it is going to be hard, he is going to have tremendous strength. If we have to deliver early, then I would highly recommend doing so, for the safety of both you and your baby.”

“But Em will be OK?” Kane asked, his eyes hadn't left mine.

“Yes, I'll make sure of it, Alpha, as she is from an Original bloodline, this could be why your son is so strong. Her body may be able to cope better than a regular run of the mill body would”

Kane breathed out heavily, I reached out for his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze, reassuring him I was going to be OK.

Adele finished the call after that, we didn't really celebrate. As we had half the pack out searching for Victor. But we were all happy at that moment, and I was ok with that.

The day after, when Kane called an emergency pack meeting, he informed everyone I was carrying their future Alpha. Like us, they were happy, so many people congratulated me, hugged me, gave me gifts, but they were quick to leave.

I knew they were scared, hearing the stories of what Victor had done to us filled them with fear. They wanted the comfort of their own home and I understood that.

“Em,” I heard a deep whisper. I opened my eyes to see Kane kneeling in front of me. I looked around to see the room had gone dark.

“The film finished, I thought Kane could take you to bed. You need more sleep” Kala said from across the room. I looked behind Kane to see she was folding up the blankets and tidying.

“No, Let me help you tidy before I go up” I offered as I tried shuffling my bum forward to the front of the sofa.

“Nope! Bed!” She ordered. “Besides, by the time you get up there, I will be done” she smiled.

I smiled, as I took Kanes' hand, he held it out, offering to pull me up. The fact I was the size of a house now made moving around so much harder.

“Argh!” I groaned as I stood up.

"Are you ok?" Kane panicked, holding onto my belly.

"I'm fine" I huffed as I began to walk out of the room. I used the word walk lightly. It was more of a waddle these days. " I really don't know how much more he is going to grow, there is literally no more room in here", I moaned as I began to tackle the stairs.

"Let me help" Kane offered as he scooped me up into his arms. "If I have to carry you everywhere for the next few weeks then so be it" He smiled.

"What would I do without you!" I sighed burying my head into his neck.

"Well, you would be able to walk for starters" He laughed.

"Your right, this is all your fault" I played along, smiling at him as he made his way to our room, he didn't even break a sweat considering I felt like the size of an elephant.

He placed me on the bed and helped me undress, It was normal for me to sleep naked these days, I couldn't stand the feeling of clothes on my body throughout the night. I got so hot and uncomfortable it kept me tossing and turning all night long.

Kane got into bed beside me and it wasn't that long before we both fell asleep. Completely unaware of what we would be waking up to.
