Chapter 31

Chapter 31
"What's the matter?"
Looking at Tavish, whose forehead had begun building sweat, Jane was flustered.
"Tis probably nothing."
It took all of Tavish's strength to force these words through her teeth. There was a fierce battle going on within her belly. She was afraid that if she didn't excuse herself, the worse would come.
However, how could her blog react so hastily to food? As werewolves, they had better digestion and could eat an entire bucket of food without complications. So why was this happening?
Seeing her holding her belly, Jane came up with a few conclusions of her own.
"Could it be that you had too much to eat and it messed with her tummy?"
Jane felt the quantity Tavish ate was too shocking. How could someone eat and drink so much and not have their stomachs bulge even a little?
Tsk.
'Such a physique was enough to die for.' Jane thought, enviously watching Tavish scurry away into the bushes.
"Will ye be okay alone for a bit?"
"Yeah!" Jane yelled back. "Don't worry about me. Take her time!"
"Thanks!" Tavish was in a rush to get far to do her business. Along the way, she squinted her eyes and they suddenly glowed with a deep brownish hue.
No dangerous creatures in sight. Jane should be fine for a while. It was just that with how her belly reacted, she wasn't sure she would be finishing up anytime soon.
Holding a tree for support, Tavish had no inkling of thinking of Jane anymore.
AHHHHHH!~
The release made her want to scream at the top of her lungs. What is going on here? She had never given birth before, but why did she feel the pain would be the same?
Tavish's wolfish fangs enlarged thrice their size, as she held on for her dear life. Her breathing was heavy and her body was covered in sweat from head to toe.
Mommy... she was about to blow.
As Tavish fought against her belly, Jane stayed in bliss, not knowing about her struggles.
Seeing as Tavish was taking a long time away, slowly rose to her feet, and walked to the lake's shores.
Despite the steady rippling, it was still as clear as a mirror. Picking up a few smooth stones, Jane flung them against the water's surface playfully.
It was strange how someone her age was enjoying su h a simple thing. Being here at this moment, she almost didn't want to go back. However, she did miss her parents and had felt a sense of loneliness here.
Because she grew up in an enclosed estate, with no one but her parents and a few helpers around, Jane has always been a loner. She had friends, but she always felt there was a wall driving them and her.
No matter who she met, she would eventually drift away from them, enclosed in her own world.
Many times, her friendships ended because she was obsessed with history, in particular Scottish history.
Jane raised her face, allowing the sun to kiss her cheeks. The day was going very well.
"Grahhhh~"
Jane recoiled back, wondering where that growl came from. Soon, she found a little wolf stuck on a sharp edge, hiding behind the waterfall. There was a cave just above the edge.
Had she not walked to the side, she wouldn't have known there was more to this waterfall.
It seemed the little thing fell one floor down from the cave to the sharp edge.
Perhaps its mother was around somewhere. Though the Mackay were friendly with these strange wolves, she couldn't be certain it wouldn't attack outsiders.
Most people would run away, knowing wolves traveled in packs. Even worse, some would try hunting it down for meat. But Jane couldn't bring herself to touch the little things, talk less of living it stranded.
Its cries and actions told her it was frightening. Looking at the rocky but wet and slippery walls, Jane knew one misstep and she could very well fall to her death.
Movies make it seem like falling from a waterfall and surviving was simple. But a large fraction of people who slipped often died.
Jumping from a waterfall isn't the same as slipping.
If one jumps, they create distance between the rocks at the start of the lake below, falling into the safer zones.
The pressure from the waterfall has eroded the stones in the region the fall touches. Most stones have been displaced to the back or other corners around the fall. So if she slipped, death would be the most likely case for her.
Jane knew all this but still decided to climb. Her goal was to get it back to its cave. The trick was not to look down.
Grwwwlll!~
The scared little wolf growled in fear, seeing Jane ascend its way. It hunched it back defensively, trying to become one with the rocky wall it leaned on.
It was a strange but cute little thing. It had the rarest wolf fur she had ever seen, with its right half being blue and its other half being Silver. Its eyes also followed the same pattern. And like the other mighty wives she had seen here, it too had over my large teeth, much bigger than any ordinary wolf its age.
Its fur was also thicker and its stature burly looking too. Yet, she could also tell it was still a little thing that hasn't even reached puberty.
