Chapter 32 FLASBACK
\[FLASHBACK\]
Packer Collegiate Institute is an independent college preparatory school for students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. It is located at 170 Joralemon Street, Brooklyn, New York City 11201, United States.
Here Camilla was now, clearly gazing at the magnificent and captivating school building. Founded in 1845, the school was quite a sight to behold, and Camilla reflected on its history.
Camilla looked at her father, who had just gotten out of the car, and then smiled. "Dad, will Mrs. Fura be there?"
Hearing her daughter's question, Terizla smiled again. "Of course, she's the principal here."
"Okay, will you show me in?" Camilla asked again.
Terizla glanced at her watch; she didn't have much time right now. Regretfully, she had to decline her daughter's request.
"How about I contact one of your guidance counselors? They also work here. I really need to get to a meeting today."
Hearing her father's answer, Camilla was extremely dissatisfied. She stamped her foot and scowled.
Terizla, watching her daughter's behavior, could only sigh. Camilla was truly irresistible. She could sulk all day, not even touching her food. Worst of all, Camilla wouldn't talk, making him worry.
"Okay, but I can't wait until your class is over." Finally, Terizla relented for the sake of his beloved daughter. He immediately took Camilla's hand and led her into the schoolyard.
Camilla, who was about to sulk, now decided against it. She smiled, especially when so many people were staring at her.
"Hey, isn't that Mr. Alistair, the successful businessman who recently made a splash again with his achievements?"
"You're right. Is that Camilla Alistair? Will she be our classmate?"
"As far as I know, Camilla never got permission to leave her family's mansion. Has Mr. Alistair changed his mind?"
"Be quiet, they'll overhear us!"
Camilla, who had been listening to the little things people said, remained silent. She was proud to have a father known to many as an accomplished man, and she would uphold his good name.
"Camilla, remember what Dad said." Terizla glanced at her daughter.
"What, Dad?" Camilla asked with a beaming face.
"Whoever you are, whatever your status, never be arrogant and never look down on others. Do you understand?" Terizla asked again.
"Yes, I understand." Camilla answered quickly, accustomed to her father's humble demeanor.
The two of them now walked toward the principal's office, always smiling when people greeted them or paid attention to them.
Nothing made the father and daughter pair look awkward; in fact, their interaction was exactly the same as at home.
After spending some time together, Camilla and her father stood in front of the principal's office. It was very quiet, and Camilla liked that.
Terizla knocked on the door several times, hoping someone would be there and then let her in.
“Dad, are you coming to pick me up later?” Camilla asked.
“I don’t think so today. Maybe Mom will come instead. Aren’t you disappointed?” Terizla asked.
“No, I’d be happy if Mom came to pick me up.”
Terizla, who hadn’t been invited in yet, knocked again. The man looked left and right, but there really was no one there.
“Is Mrs. Fura not in her office?” Camilla asked again.
“I think so,” Terizla replied.
Just as the two were about to leave, someone approached from the opposite direction. A woman in her thirties, wearing glasses, and looking very dignified.
“Oh my God, Mr. Alistair, have you been waiting long? Excuse me, I was just taking care of some matters in the school library.”
“Mrs. Fura, I’m here too,” Camilla said with a smile and a wave.
“Wow, Camilla. Long time no see, and I’m glad you chose this school.” A woman named Fura greeted Camilla without hesitation; she had already become quite close to the sweet girl.
Camilla, receiving the woman’s warm welcome, felt even happier. She looked at her father and said, “You can go now. I’ll be with Mrs. Fura and make lots of new friends.”
Fura, hearing Camilla’s words, couldn’t hide her smile. The woman looked at Terizla and remained silent. She and Terizla used to be close friends, but since Terizla married Agata, they had grown very distant.
“Are you kicking me out?” Terizla asked.
“Do you mind?” Camilla asked back.
Terizla shook her head, then reached out and ruffled the top of her daughter’s head affectionately.
“Okay, I’m going now.” Terizla felt relieved and looked at Fura.
“What’s wrong, Mr. Alistair?” Fura asked.
“Please don’t be so formal, Fura.”
Fura nodded, not liking to argue with others being her style.
“I’m leaving my daughter with you,” Terizla said.
“Okay, I understand.” Fura smiled.
After receiving Fura’s answer, Terizla stepped back. He seemed to be in a hurry, occasionally glancing at his watch.
“Camilla, I’ll introduce you to the homeroom teacher.”
“Okay, I understand, Mrs. Fura.”
"You're really smart," Fura said with a smile. She hadn't expected Camilla to be so self-centered.
Indeed... when at school, it was better for her and Camilla to act like both students and teachers. This kept her in her proper place and made Camilla look good to others.
Camilla's manners were extraordinary; she could get along with everyone, and Fura knew this was all thanks to the lessons Terizla had taught her.
The two of them quickly got up from their positions, their main destination now being the teachers' lounge. Camilla was happy to see the outside world, and she also hoped to make more friends.
Brak ...
“A-ahhhh... my back,” Camilla said in a small voice.
Camilla accidentally bumped into someone, falling to the floor of the school hallway. She lifted her head and met the eyes of an unknown young man.
The young man was wearing a black mask with a skull motif, the same as the pirate emblem.
“Sorry, I made you fall.” The young man immediately extended his hand, then looked at Camilla and locked eyes with her.
“Ah, no problem. I should have been paying attention too,” Camilla said. The girl immediately took his outstretched hand, stood back up, and smiled.
“Nice to meet you, my name is Camilla.”
“Nice to meet you, I'm not interested in giving names.”
Camilla simply nodded her head and then looked at Fura, who remained silent, observing her interactions with new people.
The young man quickly left; he had no time to linger and waste his day there. He had so many important things to do now, and it was incredibly frustrating.
“He’s the sole heir to the Xrezone family,” Fura said.
“Okay, I’ve noted that.” Camilla chuckled, and she and Fura walked back to the teachers’ lounge.
