Chapter X-3

I wanted to yell at him more, but everything went silent for a second. He stayed quiet and took a few steps along the edge of the ravine as I followed him with my eyes. What was he trying to do now? I was about to ask him 'what', but something else caught my attention. The little branches from across from me moved slightly, and we had just passed that way. I frowned, about to take a step there, but then another crunching was heard and this time, I think he heard it too. "Uh, Christian?" At that point, I think we just started calling each other out, but I didn't know what else to say other than to ask if he heard this one too. He turned back towards me, now a few meters on my left, but I was too busy trying to focus on the sounds as much as possible. "I think we have company," However, before I could say anything else, I felt something sharp hit the side of my leg, pierce through my skin as the sharp pain immediately started burning. It seemed like blackness took over my vision in that exact moment, and it happened so fast that I wasn't ready to take it all in. The pain of whatever pierced through my skin was so sharp, I lost balance, and the rest was more of a blur.. I knew I fell backwards, 'cause I felt myself tumble down the steep ravine, but my body seemed to go numb, and I didn't feel a thing.. I just knew the whole world went upside down, before I realized I was on my back. I heard Christian's voice, a shout or whatever, but my hearing was so muted muted, like someone was holding their hands against my ear, and the pain kept burning greater than a knife being pierced against my skin on that exact spot. My whole body felt numb, but at the same time the pain was so strong, so insanely harsh, I thought I was shaking. I just found myself trying to blink my eyes open, hissing as I tried moving my leg, but felt it burn stronger and harsher than a bullet. A thought crossed my mind, and I knew what it was that could hurt so bad. I knew the weapons well, and this was nothing other than an arrow. But at that point, I just knew that when I opened my eyes the corners of my vision just showed blackness, and the little sight before me was blurry. Someone was coming towards me, a pair of glowy yellow eyes and a figure that was nothing but darkness.. A werewolf. I frowned, trying to blink, move, jerk myself up, but I just heard a few muted words, and as my vision started clearing, I realized he was getting closer and closer. It seemed as my body just got used to the pain, the piercing arrow on the side of my leg, but I still could not move an inch, other then slightly sit up on my elbows. All I saw was a taller figure coming as fast as a brush of wind from behind him, and just like cracking a small branch with the noise of that slight cracking, his neck was snapped. It was Christian, I knew that, but my brain had trouble registering everything. Wait, wait, wait.. I furrowed my eyes, feeling how my lips parted, and I wasn't sure what to say first.. It seemed like I had so many things on my mind at that point, but nothing came out. I just saw him walking towards me and kneeling beside. The shock hit me way to hard, not because he snapped someones neck, but because I didn't know who that someone was. I didn't think much, I just found myself turning on my stomach and trying to somewhat crawl towards the now dead werewolf.. "What are you doing?" I heard Christian say, but as I moved a meter closer to the dead body, I saw his face, and felt that relief in my chest when I realized it wasn't a familiar face. Not my brother, or my father, or anyone else that came to my mind at that matter, and I couldn't be happier that I didn't know him. I found myself sighing, before I realized that Christian was next to me. "Christian." I said loudly as I looked at him. "That could've been,-" I once again exhaled a sharp breath before I ran a hand up my face. "God, next time, consult me before you do that. Or just warn me," My voice seemed to trail off, and I could still feel my head pulse. It all happened so damn fast. At that point, I think I had so much on my mind, it hurt my head, so the pain from my leg was slightly numbed, other than that I knew I couldn't really move it yet.. As I looked up at him, I realized he was once still kneeling beside me, and the second I looked I his eyes, I saw that anger behind them, maybe still a little bit of that shock, and.. Concern? His eyes scanned my face so quickly, I couldn't follow, before he looked down my leg. "What the fuck was I supposed to do, Lana? Look what they did to you," I watched his hand move towards the arrow, probably to pull it out, but I was fast enough to react first. "Ough, don't." "I haven't even touched it yet." He once again spoke loudly, his voice slightly echoing, but surprisingly, I've been in a situation like this, and I knew how to handle it myself. "I know, but," I'm not sure know why, but I just pushed his hand slowly, and wrapped my fingers around the arrow. "I'll do it myself." I heard myself mumble. Except this.. Well, it wasn't like a bandage. The faster, the less pain.. It hurt either way. I just wanted to get it over with because the thought of it being in my leg freaked me out. I closed my eyes, and pulled. Those reflexes kicked in and with a pain as sharp as that, I wanted to move my leg.. My stomach muscles seemed to flex, and I had to fist my hands 'cause they shook from how harsh it burned. "Son of a bi,-" And once it was out, I threw it on the side, feeling the cold air against the opened wound. It just burned now, and the blood ran down my leg. If I was wearing jeans instead of shorts, they would've softened the hit. Now, it was deep in.. I still breathed sharply, watching how Christian looked at me, and a slight smile stretched his lips even though I appreciate that he was trying to hide it. "You panicked." He mumbled under his breath, finding funny that I didn't like objects cutting my skin. My eyes widen in slight surprise. Of course I panicked! "It hurts!" I said sharply, pressing my hand against the dirty ground and trying yo stand up. Of course, with Christian being the one that was left untouched, he stood up fast enough to offer me a hand up. However, I was still mad at him for not believing me. And, yea, still freaked out from how fast all of this happened. "No, I can do it by myself." I said, trying to escape eye contact with him and still somewhat struggling to get up. It just burned as strong as it did in the first place when they shot me whenever I put my weight on that leg.
