Chapter 50
“You’re in,” Bill said. “Now you’re part of the pride.”
Dan liked that idea.
A soft mewing came from somewhere in the region of Dan’s ankles.
Bill handed Ari to Dan, bent, and picked up a cat that looked more like a kitten than a full grown cat. It was a calico and had extremely short legs. “And this is Peanut. The real ruler of the realm,” Bill said, giving the diminutive feline a kiss on the nose.
Peanut’s soft purr blended with Ari’s roar.
“She’s a Munchkin, right?” Dan asked.
“That’s right. Both of these beauties were dropped off at the practice where I worked last. I was gonna just foster ‘em until we found homes for them. But…you know how it goes. You get so attached you just can’t let ‘em go.”
“I know what you mean. That’s how Chrissy…uh…that’s my ex. That’s how we wound up with Lad and Lady.”
The men sat down on the couch and played with the cats for a bit, Dan trying not to conclude Bill’s love of animals and softness of heart in adopting them was some sort of sign. Although, truth be told, it was influencing the way Dan felt about the man and their future together.
Bill asked, “We never did decide, is it fuck or feast?”
The question caused Dan’s dick to stir. “I think it better be fuck. I don’t think I’ll be able to focus on food if I’m thinking of eating other things.” Dan reached out and squeezed Bill’s half-hard cock. “Besides, you’re already dressed…or should I say undressed for it.”
Bill agreed, then added, “Ah—a man after my own heart.”
Dan’s mind went immediately to the double entendre in Bill’s words. Once again Dan had to force himself to not get ahead of the game.
Minutes later, they were in Bill’s bedroom. “Oh, baby, this is so good,” Bill moaned. “Your ass is so fantastic,”
His dick, that had been in Dan’s mouth, was now buried deep inside Dan’s ass. Once again, as always seemed to be the case with Dr. Dan Parker, anal sex triggered deep emotions of affection as well as passion. It had happened with Rocky, Wesley, Damion, and Steve. Now it was happening with Bill.
However, in Bill’s case he hadn’t done anything to indicate that love was part of the equation as the others had. With Bill it seemed to be sex for the fun of it. Yet, Dan felt Bill seemed to have some level of feeling for Dan in him somewhere. Dan held on to those thoughts as he let Bill’s cock send his body into the throes of sexual pleasure and fill his heart with visions of love.

Dan saw Bill every night that week. They alternated between Dan’s house and Bill’s apartment. When they were at Dan’s they ate out, when at Bill’s, he prepared the meals. But whether they were at Dan’s house or Bill’s apartment, they always wound up—or started out—in the same place, the bedroom. And always, the sex was fantastic. Dan was finding it harder and harder not to let his emotions and his desire for a committed loving relationship get the upper hand.
Then, one night, after an hour of mind-blowing sex, they lay together in each other’s arms. Bill was stroking Dan’s hair when he said softly, “I like where this is going.”
Dan nodded. “Me, too.” He wondered if Bill was thinking the same way he was.
“I think it’s time we took it to another level.”
Dan’s heart skipped a beat, then began beating in earnest.
“Let’s go out Friday night.”
Dan was confused. This wasn’t quite what he’d hoped. “But we already go out to dinner a lot.”
“I mean more than dinner. Go to a movie or a bar…maybe a gay bar. Do some dancing. Maybe catch a ball game.”
“Oh.” Disappointed, Dan took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
Bill misread Dan’s sigh. “Oh, don’t you worry. We’ll end up right here. I didn’t mean we wouldn’t have sex. That’ll be the day!” Bill laughed heartily. “I just think because we’re gettin’ closer we should do more together than just hop in the sack—make our relationship about more than just sex, find out what we’re interested in, what we like to do, other than fuck that is.” Bill punctuated his last statement with a tender squeeze of Dan’s ass.
Damn you, Parker. What did you think moving to the next level meant—a marriage proposal?Of course getting to know each other is the logical next step if we’re going to be together long term, Dan rationalized, giving hope another chance to rise once again in his heart.
