Chapter 64 Chapter Sixty-Four

Chapter 64 Chapter Sixty-Four
Chapter Sixty-Four

              Zeke

“Nah, we're going to keep our distance away from each other. Until you find a way to help my father's company again.”  With that, she headed back to the bedroom.

I felt weak and tired of everything. After thirty minutes of careful contemplation, I decided to let the matter be for now. We'd address it when we've settled the matter on ground. I headed back into my study, and found Qyle waiting for me. He hadn't left at all. Instead, he used a secret passageway, located specifically at the corner of the living room. And he had done it when no one was looking.

“Settled the matter?” He asked calmly, scrolling through his phone.

“Not really.” I massaged my temple, and took a seat across from him.

“She has every right to be angry, you know. You literally liquidated her family's source of wealth. What were you expecting? A smile and hug from her?  Or were you expecting her to thank you?” Amusement danced in his eyes.

“You played a role in it.” I retorted.

“On whose orders?” He asked, cocking a brow.

I sighed. “Let's talk about the other matter.”

He adjusted his position. “My COO can handle my business matters, until we're done. As for my mother, I'll have to give her a vague explanation.”

I nodded. “We have to summon the orders. And that means going to their kingdoms, one after the other. It works in our favor, since we were intending to give out some warning.” My irises flashed with power.

There was something we were certain about. It was the fact that we were up against a very strong force.

And I suspected that the Circle, and some people in Weasels were in on it.

“Gentlemen,” A familiar voice said, as a figure emerged from a portal. “Missed me?”

Natasha had changed into a beautiful flowing skirt that hugged her curves. And a short scarf-like blouse that exposed her belly. Her bow and arrow were hung on her back.

“Perhaps,” I shrugged.

She took her seat close to Qyle and crossed her legs.

“Don't bother seducing him. Other women aside from Mirah are just walking walls in his eyes.” Qyle smirked.

Natasha pouted playfully. “Worse luck for me, then. I wanted to make him mine.” She winked at me.

One who didn't know her would think she was being serious. Fate was being funny when it made all my friends non-believers of love.

Natasha was interested in love, as much as she was interested in taking over the throne of her kingdom, once her mother descended.

And Natasha loathed politics.

I cleared my throat. “I was telling Qyle that we have to summon the others.”

Nastasha scrunched up her nose, and I knew what she was about to ask.

“Would Kai be among them?”

I shrugged. “Would you rather we leave him behind?”

She grunted, and crossed her arms. “You know my answer.”

“Well, that's settled then.” Qyle rose to his feet, as did Natasha.

I was the last person to stand up.

“Are we taking Mirah with us?” Nastasha asked.

My eyes glinted. “For whatever reason, that Rogue-brid is interested in her. And I suspect it isn't because he likes her as a woman.”

“You believe he has an ulterior motive?” Qyle asked, his brows knitting. I could tell his intelligent mind was weighing my words.

“Obviously. I think he has access to her mind. Let's play along with his plans until we know what his motives are.” I said, assuming my natural role of leader.

“Good. Provided she doesn't stab you with a fork while you're asleep.” Qyle said, his lips curving.

“Is there something I'm missing?” Natasha asked, turning in amusement to Qyle.

Same time I fixed a murderous glare at that betrayer of a friend.

“Ask Zeke yourself.” Qyle winked.

I ignored both of them, and headed towards the room where Mirah was.

Surprisingly, she didn't put up a fight, which strengthened my conviction that Xavier was playing with her mind.

I gave her some time to get changed, and my jaws unhinged when she reappeared from the walk-in closet, dressed in a black- on-black jumpsuit with a black cloak to match.

“Where the fuck did you get a cloak?” I asked, wondering how she got her clothes into my closet.

“I have my ways.” She replied cryptically.

I didn't push her further. I was already threading on thin ice around her. I'd wait for her to come around. Till then, I was determined to mind the words I say.

Qyle and Natasha were ready, when we returned.

“Oh my, you look pretty.” Natasha said, going over to take Mirah's hand. She smiled in response, and the gesture warmed my heart.

“What's our first stop?” Qyle asked.

“Weasels. Make a portal for us, Natasha.” I said to the pretty See-brid who was still talking excitedly with Mirah.

“With pleasure.” She moved away from us, towards the patio's door. She wrung her hands gently, muttering some spells beneath her breath.

The portal began forming in a swirl of blue. I stretched a hand towards Mirah.

“Hold onto me. The portal can be turbulent for a human to bear.”

She hesitantly took my hand, her touch soft against mine. I shook my mind away from the rearing thoughts, and turned to the portal.

“Let's make a stop at the castle, before seeking out the Circle.”

“Yeah, I'm so excited.” Natasha said in a bored tone.

We stepped through the portal, and I tightened my hand on Mirah's. She made a soft sound.

The magic called out to the vampire-force in me, and my veins hummed in harmony. I closed my eyes to relish the feeling. When I opened my eyes again, we were at the gates to the castle.

Stepping through the gates was easy. We walked towards the throne hall in a clean file, my hand subconsciously going to encircle Mirah's waist.

She didn't protest, and I took it as a good sign.

My father, stepmother and her son were having a discussion, when we walked in. I studied their reactions.

As expected, a fearful look covered my stepmother's face. Almost like she'd expected to have heard the news of my death.

“King Uther Elliott,” I called out, his angry look increasing as we made our way towards the throne.

Alex was seated on the throne meant for a king-in-training. My former self would've erupted in anger at seeing him in the position meant for me.

But my new self, the one who'd softened a bit after meeting Mirah, the one who'd become more logical, chose to reason out the reason behind every action.

The gnawing feeling in my mind- the one who believed that everything, from kicking me out from the Circle, to the deaths of several vampires, to our collision with that Rogue-brid, were tied together, grew stronger.

I couldn't ignore the feeling.

“A See-brid?! Guards!” My father thundered and several vampire guards poured into the throne room.

“Seize her!” My father ordered, pointing to an unperturbed Natasha by my side.
