Chapter 37: Jamaican Brownie
"Just try it," Aaron encouraged, nudging me to take a bite. Reluctantly, I gave in, and to my surprise, the rich, fudgy brownie melted in my mouth, leaving behind a delightful hint of rum flavor. "Mmm, these brownies are delicious," I exclaimed, unable to hide my pleasure.
"You like it, Aaron?" I asked, turning to see his reaction. "Yes, perfect," he replied, his eyes twinkling with delight. Emboldened by our success, I asked the baker for two more pieces and even decided to try a vape, opting for the refreshing strawberry flavor.
After our indulgent treat, we made our way back to our hotel room, where Aaron tentatively agreed to try the vape. "Oh, this feels kinda good and refreshing," he admitted, surprising himself with the pleasant sensation.
As we lounged on the balcony, enjoying the warm Jamaican breeze, Aaron suddenly spoke up. "I feel funny, do you feel funny?" he asked with a chuckle. I couldn't help but laugh along with him. "No, I feel good, better than ever. I told you the vape is working fine," I reassured him.
"Honey?" Aaron called out, drawing my attention. "Yes, babe?" I replied, turning to face him. "I don't think those were just brownies. They look like space cake," he said, his eyes widening in realization. "What?" I exclaimed, the pieces of the puzzle finally clicking into place.
As the effects of the space cakes kicked in, I felt a surge of energy and euphoria rush through me. "I want wine, I want wine!" I exclaimed, darting around the room in a frenzy. Grabbing a handful of grapes, I savored their taste. "Oh my god, this grape juice is amazing," I giggled, offering some to Aaron.
But Aaron, ever the voice of reason, urged me to slow down. "Don't be a pooper, just taste this," I insisted, my laughter bubbling over. Despite his concern, Aaron remained composed, handling the space cakes with surprising ease while I spiraled into a fit of giggles and nonsensical ramblings.
Feeling overheated and exhilarated, I was unable to contain my excitement. "I feel so hot, like my heart is pounding so hard. Can you feel it?" I exclaimed, my laughter ringing out. "I feel so good, I feel so good," I repeated, running up and down the stairs in a whirlwind of energy.
But Aaron's patience wore thin as my antics attracted unwanted attention. "Baby, this is enough, let's go now," he pleaded, trying to reign me in. But my mood shifted suddenly, tears welling up as I longed for the comfort of home and family.
"I want to go home to my mommy. I want to hug her," I sobbed, clinging to Aaron. Overwhelmed by emotion, I begged him to take me home, convinced of imminent disaster. "Bring me home, bring me home," I pleaded, my heart racing with fear.
In the midst of my dramatic outburst, I implored Aaron to feel my pounding heart, convinced of its impending demise. "Can you feel it? Can you feel it?" I cried out, caught in a whirlwind of emotions and sensations beyond my control.
As I struggled with the disorienting effects of the space cake, my mind spun with irrational fears and insecurities. "There's something wrong with my heart," I insisted, my words tumbling out incoherently. But Aaron, ever patient, reassured me, urging me to lay down and relax.
Desperate for his comfort, I begged him not to leave me alone. "Do you still want to marry me?" I questioned, my thoughts careening wildly. Accusations flew from my lips, fueled by the haze of intoxication. "You still love Layla, don't you?" I accused, my voice tinged with doubt.
But Aaron, steadfast in his commitment, tried to calm my fears. "Valencia, I forgot about Layla a long time ago. You're my wife, and I'm going to marry you," he asserted, his words a beacon of reassurance in my turbulent mind.
In a moment of irrationality, I demanded that he call Layla and confess his feelings, threatening to leave if he refused. But Aaron, recognizing the absurdity of the situation, tried to reason with me. "Baby, you're high now. Let's talk about this tomorrow," he implored, his voice tinged with concern.
Despite his efforts to alleviate my distress, the effects of the space cake lingered, leaving me trapped in a whirlwind of confusion and anxiety. As we faced the looming prospect of our planned activities in Jamaica, Aaron remained by my side, his steadfast presence offering a glimmer of stability in the midst of chaos
Aaron, feeling guilty for the unexpected effects of the space cake, frantically searched the internet for any remedy to alleviate my discomfort. He cursed the unsuspecting vendor who failed to disclose the true nature of the confection. Desperate for guidance, he reached out to an old friend, hoping for a solution.
His friend's teasing response only added to Aaron's frustration, but he persisted, urging his friend to focus on finding a solution rather than making jokes. With a sigh, the friend promised to look into it, offering a glimmer of hope amid the chaos of the situation.
Aaron's desperation mounted as he pleaded with his friend for advice, the urgency in his voice palpable. He recounted how my condition had rapidly deteriorated, blaming the vendor for the deceptive nature of the space cake.
My sudden disappearance sent Aaron into a panic, prompting him to frantically search every corner of the hotel. He pleaded with strangers, desperately seeking any sign of my whereabouts, his anxiety escalating with each passing moment.
Meanwhile, his friend's amused reaction only fueled Aaron's frustration, amplifying the tension of the situation. Despite the gravity of the circumstances, the absurdity of the situation wasn't lost on anyone involved.
Aaron's agitation reached a breaking point as he confided in his friend, grappling with the fear of losing me in the chaotic aftermath of the space cake incident. His emotions were raw, and his friend's attempts to soothe him fell short in the face of his escalating panic.
"Easy for you to say," Aaron snapped, his frustration boiling over. "You're not the one who can't find his wife in a foreign country."
His friend's reassurance was met with skepticism as Aaron struggled to regain his composure. With each passing moment, the weight of the situation bore down on him, leaving him feeling helpless and overwhelmed.
