Chapter 17 — Not what I expected
Fallon:
I will not think about her! There’s nothing between us but sex. Once I’m done with her, I will break her neck and continue with my plans to end the world. This is what I repeat in my head while I swing my sword in the weapon’s practice room.
Lilith walks in a moment later, her arms crossed in front of her chest and her lips twisted in one of her trademark jeers.
“What has you in such a state, my monster?”
I ignore her and continue my sword practice.
“I hope that the human is not the reason you are acting so strangely.”
Swiping my sword viciously, I hiss out a breath and sneer. “Is there a reason you’re pestering me, mother?”
Her expression sours as she paces around the gym. “Our demons are ready and waiting for your inspection.”
I quirk a brow. “You never explained to me how you created a whole new species of demons. I didn’t even know it was possible.”
Lilith moves toward a wall covered in weapons and runs her claws across one of the sword handles. “When he imprisoned me, Lucifer never considered that witches would use it for its nefarious reasons. I discovered that one of the witches used a spell to siphon power from other supernaturals. And after learning that human scientists were doing the same thing, I decided to try it. Using my own powers, I siphoned powers from various demons and bond them into creatures of my own making. It was quite ingenious. The only issue that I have found is that the creatures I capture can only have a limited amount of power, which is why I have to consistently replenish the power from them. I keep their bodies in the cellar and siphon their power every few days. It’s quite a system that I have in place.”
I narrow my eyes and place my sword back on its stand. Reaching for a towel, I wipe my bare chest and hair. “What about Lucifer? Have you received any news?”
She nods. “The spies you sent to hell have reported that there has been some unrest since your disappearance. Lucifer ordered several of his men to mount a search. But with all of the demons who have gone missing, the demons have become suspicious of Lucifer’s ability to rule.”
I stride toward the window and observe as the sun begins to set on the horizon. “Brilliant. Once the time comes, I will have one of the spies reveal our plan to storm hell to one of Lucifer’s generals. It should give Lucifer enough time to come return to hell and face our army.”
Lilith’s lip tilts into a vicious grin. “While we wait, I will work on creating more demons for our army.”
As soon as she leaves, I head back to my room. Bree is sitting on the window seat with a book in her hand. Since the night that I woke her up from her nightmares, I have made sure that she’s too exhausted to dream. Nearly every night, I pleasure her with my mouth and hands until she begs for sleep. She still professes to hate me as she rides my tongue. But it’s no bother. In fact, I take great pleasure in vexing her.Stepping forward, I tilt the cover and read the title. “The Assassin’s Temptation?” I mutter intrigued.
She rolls her eyes. “Hey, don’t knock it until you read it. There’s nothing like a hot assassin book to take you out of your boredom and transport you into a sexy, new world.”
I take a seat next to her and pull the book out of her hand. “You know there are far more entertaining ways for you to ease your boredom?”
Brielle quirks a brow. “Oh, and what would that be? Because I have to tell you, worrying that my sister might be hysterically searching for me is not helping either.”
I clench my jaw tightly and pull her into my lap. Her golden hair flutters wildly around her as she tries not to melt against me. “You know, you never told me how it is that we came to meet,” I ask.
Her brow furrows with confusion. “Really? You want to know how we met?”
I nod. “I do,”
She gazes down at me with suspicion but goes along with it. I listen bemused as she shares our past encounters. I can see why she sees me as two separate Fallons. It seems that the other Fallon was rather dull and afraid of taking what he wanted. When I tell her, she scowls. “The other you might not have been as cocky or bloodthirsty as you are, but he cared about others and protected me with his life.”
Scoffing at her words, I side my hand up her neck and caress her jaw. “You say that, but I know you enjoy my cockiness, little human. You show me that every night when you come apart in my arms.”
At my words, she squirms in my lap and quivers with desire. “You were a good man, Fallon. You cared about the people you loved,” she gasps out breathlessly.
Jaw tight, I push her off my lap and rise from my seat. “This is the true me, luv. I’m a bloody, soulless monster who cares very little for the world.”
She shakes her head vehemently. “But you don’t have to be. Why can’t you see—”
“Enough!” I cut her off. “You need to stop trying to make me grow a conscience, luv. I’m a monster, and that’s what I will always be.”
Before she can argue, I pull her into my arms and gaze down into her eyes, threateningly. “I think I’ve been remiss lately in reminding you of who I really am.”
Stilling in my arms, Brielle meets my gaze steadily.
“Do you want to know what I really want, little human?” I ask as I pull her closer. “I want to bury myself so deep inside of your tight, little sheath that when you come, you’ll scream with reverence. Then, when I’m done, I want to put you on your knees and pound into you all over again.”
Her eyes heat at my confession. Leaning close, I slant my lips over hers and devour her delicious lips. As my mouth ravishes hers, small mewls escape her lips.
Without another word, I push her onto the bed and remove my clothes. Brielle rises to her knees and wraps her arms around my neck. “I don’t want to argue with you, Fallon. Let’s just pretend that I’m not your hostage and that you’re not a murderous psycho. For now, we’ll just be two regular beings who desperately need each other.”
I don’t know how I end up losing track of my point. But proving that I’m a cruel sod is the farthest thing from my mind at that moment. Moving my hands down, I mold my palms against her firm arse. Groaning with pleasure, I kiss her harder as her hands traverse down my chest and sensually claw my abs. Pushing her down on the bed, I pump my hips and rub my cock against her wet heat. Brielle’s hips jerk up at the contact, making my eyes roll back at the pleasurable friction. Sliding down her body, I suck on her neck and nibble her throat until I reach her exquisite breasts. A gasp escapes her lips when I roll her nipple between my fingers and suckle the other one. Groaning, I rotate my hips until we’re both ecstatically squirming on the bed.
When I bite down on her other nipple and slip my hand between her folds, Brielle throws her head back with a cry. Satisfied with her response, I pump and scissor my fingers in and out of her tight sheath. Her nails bite into my hips, and her lips open with a gasp as she rides my hand.
Her bliss-filled mewls fuel my desire until I cannot bear another moment.
I pull back, glide my shaft up and down her slit and slip it inside her tight opening. A satisfied sigh escapes my lips as I slide inside her tight depths. Moans and gasps echo across the room as I heighten my strokes. Her hands move across my body, and her cries fuel my desire.
Lifting up on my palms, I pump my hips until she cries out and her molten walls quiver around my cock. My movements become more erratic as my climax nears. Within a moment, my body freezes above her, and my essence Erupts inside her warm sheath. Torrents of ecstasy thrum through my core, overwhelming all of my senses until I feel like I might fall apart.
As my climax abates, I slump down on the bed beside Brielle and pull her into my arms.
Brielle’s soft breathing reaches my ears within moments. Unfortunately, I don’t have as much luck finding my slumber. Looking down at Brielle’s restful face, I feel a mix of conflicting emotions.
For so long, the only emotions I’ve felt have been centered around my own needs. The upside of having no soul is that I will never feel love, fear or hope. All I can feel is rage, a hunger for destruction, and pleasure. Yet, as I look at the woman lying so close beside me, I can’t help the disquieting sensation digging inside my chest.
I meant it when I said that I do not want my soul. To have a soul is to make yourself vulnerable. It’s a weakness that I do not wish to ever experience. What I want is to bask in my rage and make the Creator pay for making me a monster. I don’t want to think about this exquisite woman and the pain in her eyes when she made me pledge to let her see her sister before she died.
Rising from the bed, I walk toward the window and frustratedly thread my fingers through my hair. As I look out into the darkness, I sway. My head pounds, and my hands shake when an image flashes in my mind.
In the image, I’m standing in front of a male. I scour my memories, but I can’t recall where I have seen the male. Yet, the image is so clear. The man has dark eyes and hair and is patting my back with an amused smirk. Reeling back, I rub the center of my chest, but the feeling of emptiness will not abate.
As the evening grows shorter, I think about what I’m going to do once I face Lucifer. Looking back, I look at Brille and frown. Can I slay her once I’ve slain Lucifer? Do I even have a choice?
