I turned, seeing Lottie standing right in front of me, covered in blood and disoriented.

"Lottie!" I exclaimed, taking her into my arms because she got on her knees. My God, she looks bad, she looks scared. "Relax, I'll call for help." I took my cell phone and dialed Lucas.

“Tell me.”

“I found her!”

“Where?” The emotion was heard in his voice.

“Come where I came from and keep walking until you reach a waterfall, then walk straight up to a stone wall, we are here. Lottie is very bad, she needs an ambulance.”

“I am coming right away.”

Court.

"Lottie, what happened to you?" I wanted to know, the girl was shaking. "Lottie." I took her face in my hands and looked at her. Her gaze was lost, she had no expressions, she was in shock. “Talk to me please.”

"The wolf…" she murmured. When she said that, an icy air ran down my spine. “Wolf…”

"Shh calm down, you're safe.” I hugged her, making her feel protected “you're safe.”

"Eva, the wolf," she murmured again.

“There are no wolves here, you are safe, we will take you to a hospital to be examined.”

“Eve! Charlotte!” my brother yelled, running up and kneeling with me. "My God, what happened to her?"

I stepped away so Lucas could be with her. He hugged her and made her feel safe.

“I called my father and he will be here shortly.”

I nodded, feeling more or less relieved that Lottie turned up, but still very concerned about her condition. The wolf did this, maybe the same one who wanted to attack me today and we know who could be behind all this: Riley.

"I have something urgent to do," I murmured, "I'll catch up with you at the clinic."

“Where are you going?” I heard him call me but I ignored him. I have rage and anger Right now, I don't want to think that idiot Riley had anything to do with this. She knew about the wolves, what's more, the wolves listened to her orders. I swear she’ll pay dearly for doing that to Lottie. I almost ran until I got to the school, it was still lunch time, I entered the cafeteria and looked at the blonde girl sitting with Kessler and his friends.

I walked over to her and took her arm, making her stand up.

“Oh! What the hell is wrong with you?” She got away.

"Did you have anything to do with what happened to Lottie?" I asked her clearly and precisely. I'm angry, my face is proof of it and when I get angry I don't usually control myself. But I hate people who want to take advantage of others.

"I don't know what the hell you're talking about.”

"Eva, what are you doing?" Kessler stood up.

"Don't think you can fool me," I said to Riley. "You're just a fucking dumb blonde who uses her wolves to intimidate people, aren't you? Don't you remember what you did to me in the morning? The way you commanded that animal surprised me, yes, but it didn't scare me. It is nothing more than a simple wolf that will die with a shot. But you, Riley, you'll pay me for messing with Lottie.” I raised my hand and punched her in the face, my hand hurt and it seems Riley didn't even hurt.

Shit. I grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground. Now everyone was surrounding us yelling fight while I put this chick in her place. I hit Riley so hard that she surprised me that she didn't fight back.

“What are you waiting for to defend yourself, bitch?” I snapped, "Come on, do it."

"If I do, I don't think you'll survive!" she yelled, grabbing one of my arms and squeezing it so hard that I felt as if my bones were breaking. Riley can't have this strength. I looked at his eyes, they were black and they didn't look like his.

That did scare me.

“Stop!” Kessler took me by the waist and removed me from her “You're going to get in trouble, Eva.”

“What are you doing defending her?!” Riley yelled, getting to her feet. "Your duty is with me!" she snapped.

"Let's go." Kessler led me away from there.

"Let me go now." I wriggled out of his grasp.

"Eva, why the hell are you doing this? Messing with Riley was the worst thing you could do," he scolded me, at least that's how I felt.

“She deserves it! I found Lottie covered in blood several miles from here and you know she was the first thing she said to me! The wolf that was what she muttered. How do you want I to be? I did watch Riley order one of those animals to kill me. Tell me! You are… you keep secrets, I know. Especially you, Kessler.” I turned to exit.

“Where are you going?”

“With Lottie.”

“I'll accompany you, Eva, I don't want to leave you alone.” He seemed sincere, his look showed concern and perhaps I looked at something scared. It was new for me to see him like this, as vulnerable.

“Whatever you want.”

We both walked along the same spot until we were almost to the path that led to Lottie's house. I looked at an ambulance, Lottie on the gurney, and my father talking to Lucas.

“My father must not see me with you” I told him “It's not for nothing but he doesn't like you.”

"I'll take you to the hospital in my car, let's go."

"Why do you want to walk with me? I mean, why are you helping me now? You should be consoling Riley.”

"Eva, don't complain and let's go." He took my arm and led me back to the school parking lot. I nodded, I don't know why but I wanted him to take me. Maybe to teach Riley a lesson? Perhaps, I have noticed that she goes crazy if Kessler approaches me and that fills me with satisfaction. I got on his black jeep, it was the first time I had done it. I smelled a manly smell here. I liked. Kessler got in and started the car.

"Your girlfriend is very strong," I muttered as the car started up.

"Hmm maybe.”

“He has. In fact, too much force I would say. I don't know how to explain it, Kessler, but I saw something in her eyes… something I didn't like at all. I'm thinking that my father should never have brought us to this place.”

“Things always happen for a reason, Eva, maybe you were destined to come to me.”

"Oh please, don't talk like that. Not that I would have come here for you.” I rolled my eyes.

"Maybe it was."

"You're not my type, Kessler," I snapped, which made Kessler stop the car with a slam.

“You know? When you are in love with me I will remind you of these words.”

“What?” I looked at him, because what he said was the stupidest thing I could have ever heard.

"I would never fall in love with you."

I look myself.

“Oh no? Why did you follow my kiss then?” He stepped dangerously close.

"Because... I got carried away is all."

"How about you let yourself go right now?" He murmured, wanting to give me another kiss.

"No offense, Kessler, but you are a very arrogant person and I hate those kinds of men. They believe that they can have any woman at their feet and when one comes along who rejects them, they show more interest just to show that there is no one who ignores them. I'm sick of it.”

“Eva, Eva, you watch a lot of movies or read a lot of books. The reality is different, miss” he started the car again.

"I've just met a lot of people in my short life," I told him.

“Someday you will understand.”

“Ok.”

When we got to the hospital I got out, surely dad and Lucas are already here.

"Thanks," I murmured, taking off my belt.

“Do you want me to accompany you?”

“No.”

"I'll still do it." Saying that, he got out of the car at the same time as me.

“What part of my father doesn't want to see me with you, didn't you understand?”

"I don't care what your father says, Eva, I want to be with you."

“Why? That's what I do not understand.”

He sighed as bored by the same conversation.

"I already told you that one day you will understand."

“I want to understand it right now because I don't like to feel confused. Either you tell me or I don't come back to you, Walton.”

"Eve..." he sentenced.

I stayed waiting.

“It's complicated but I feel very close to you” he approached “as if I had known you all my life, as if I were waiting for you, as if we were made for each other. I just know that I want to see you at all times and I want to be close to you...” he took a lock of hair “...I like you.”

My breath hitched when he said that last thing.
