disgust or temptation
Darius’ p.o.v
I walked back to the castle, by this time, the sun was resting in the middle of the sky, making me let out a breath.
‘did Mika even look for me? The thought of her actually looking for me through the castle made my chest tighten with excitement.
I increased my pace, wanting to get to my room as quickly as possible so that i could get to her looking clean.
As expected, my room was empty but i could smell her. I fought to keep my smile at bay,
‘she had come to check up on me’ i thought, smiling at the thought. Did not think twice, rushing to the door, to take a shower.
I heard the door opening, making another smile to spread on my face.
She is here’ i thought to myself, i bit my lower lips.
“Mika, i…” the words died on my tongue as i saw beth sitting there, a smile on her lips like she had won the lottery. “Ummm Beth..” i called, adjusting my towel around my hips.
“My lord!” she smiled. I tried to hide my irritation as well as my disappointment, but it was not working. I looked around, hoping that i would see her
“were is Mika” her face fell, the happy face a second back now looked at me with sadness in her eyes.
“your highess!” she said, her voice shaking as though she was forcing herself not to cry.
I felt the alarm bells go off in my head as i tried to understand what it meant that she ment by that cry “go and call Mika, tell her i want to see her” she gulped, looking at me for a moment before she looked away from me. Just when i thought that i could not feel anymore sense of dread other than the one i was feeling, i felt it. My guts twisted more than i could imagine.
“look… My Lord.. i…” she was fidgeting, making anxiety tear me from the inside out.
“Speak up Beth!!!” i yelled, making her look at me with a startled expression.
I let out a sigh. “Beth, i did not mean to” she took a step back, bowing her head.
“I understand my Lord” she said, the tremble in her voice could not be hidden though “it’s been a long night for you, but i must tell you, my lady left. She said there was no point staying since you wanted to send her away either ways.” i felt my mouth go dry as she spoke.
“that… that’s a lie” i said, my voice coming out as a whisper.
“you wound me my lord, you know i would never do that to you” she said, looking at me through her lashes but i only let out a sigh.
“you are right” it was difficult to say as my mouth was getting drier by the minute
“if i maybe so bold” she said, looking up at me now. She gave off a smile. One that told me that she was about to do something that… “i think she did not deserve you though” she said, holding on to me, making me freeze for a minute.
I looked at her, not believing my eyes. “Beth?” i called, too scared to say the words out loud, feeling like it would seem real if i called her name a little louder.
“My Lord?” she called, tilting her head so that she could look me properly from the angle she stood.
I pushed her as soon as i my mind overcame the shook.
“Beth, what the hell do you think you are doing?” there was a hurt look in her eyes but i did not seem to mind it. I honestly could not bring myself to care about that at the moment.
“my lord..” she said again, holding her dress as though thinking it over for a while, that’s when i saw it. She was not dressed in her usual work dressed. She had on a robe. “today has proven that i would always be by your side, through tick and the storms. So why don’t i…” she removed the robe, left with nothing but a very see through gown, leaving nothing for imagination.
I snapped my eyes away almost immediately, taking in a deep breath to reign in my anger “you should get out” i said, holding the last bit of my anger.
“you don’t have to be so modest, i promise” she said, forcing my face towards her direction. “i have waited for the longest of times my lord, i swear i can be a better mate than that, bitch of a…”
I snapped, a bit of rage that i could not explain bubbling at the pits of my stomach.
“you crossed a line there Beth” her name came out of my mouth with so much spite that i watched her flinch. I took you as my sister when you were about to die and this is it?”
She looked scared but she did not seem to be backing down. She bit her lower lips even though it was trembling. “i spoke wrong” she said after a while. That was wrong of me” her voice was also visibily shaken by this time. “I just… i am here for you” she touched my hands softly, making me want to throw her to the side, but i held myself.
I let go of her neck rather aggessively. “i would forgive you this once, but you dare not let it happen again” i spat as i watched her scramble to her feet as she tried to cover herself up.
“off c…course my lord” she muttered.
I sighed, waiting for a minute to calm myself down from the anger. I did not want her to see me in such an angry state first thing in the morning.
“she could not have gone, right?” the thought of it dissolved any bit of anger left, replacing it with fear as i marched to her room….
