leaving
leaving
MIKA’S P.O.V
i woke up the next morning, dread filling my chest as i stood from the bed.
I freshened up, taking as much time than needed.
‘was he serious about me leaving?’ was he actually going to kick me out?’ i gathered as much strength as i could mentally and walked out the bathroom, throwing on a shirt and matching straight down to his room before i could think about it and change my mind.
I knocked on the door as hard as i could, i could have sworn that the door was made of some dragon magic because no matter how much i pounded on it, it just wouldn’t budge.
“Darius!!! i know you are fucking in there! And i would suggest that…” before i could finish speaking, Beth opened the door, looking as though she had been caught doing something that she should not.
“you again” i said with a growl in the most unforgiving way i could possibly muster, and honestly, it was not that hard to do.
“m-my lady” i pushed my way in, locking her in that she had no other option than to take a step back, making her go back into the room.
“I saw you here yesterday” i said, not bothering to hide the accusation in my voice. Her face was calm, neutral, not giving anything off. That angered me in ways i could not even explain. “answer me when i am fucking talking to you!!!”
“I do not mean to fucking anger you, my lady but…” she played with her hands, having this terrified look on her face.
“fucking spit it out!!!”
“you are starting to act like her” i felt my face twist for a moment, the confusion settling inside the pits of my stomach faster than i could even explain.
“like who?” my voice came out soft this time around.
“Like Veylith your majesty.” i felt my blood freeze.
I did not shout, i could not. I mean what could you say when someone told you like your biggest nightmare?
“what?” my voice came out like a whisper, as i barely managed to get the words out.
“i mean no disrespect my lady, but ever since you came back? You have changed.” she said, this time totally ignoring my gaze.
I blinked, looking at her like she was a crazy lady.
“you don’t give him peace anymore” she said, gesturing to the room to show that she was referring to Darius.
“he told you that?” i looked inside the room, trying to set my eyes on him, but the room was empty. It was exactly like how i had left it last night. The towel exactly as he had dropped it when he changed to his shirt and some pants, the sheets croaked as he had sat down on the edge to talk at some point, everything.
I looked to her, expecting an answer but she just shook her head at me. “he did not need to tell me that, my lady” she said, taking in a deep breath. “I have known my lord for the longest of times, how he looked at you, and even you see it for yourself.” i scoffed.
“is this it? Your grand scheme or something?” i hated the way my voice shook.
She shook her head slowly, a look of pity crossed her face for a second. “i care for you. Mainly because you are the one my master cares for.” she said, coming closer to me like she was telling me a secret. “I just don’t want you resenting yourself later and blaming yourself. This place, it changes people, and most times, it’s usually not for the better. I just… i just don’t want to see you that way. It would hurt him so much” i nodded.
“i understand, but you still haven’t answered” i took a step closer to her, looking her straight in the eye. “what were you doing so late at night in his bedroom.” i felt her shake, looking at me straight in the eye before avoiding my gaze altogether.
“when he is in heat, i do try my best by giving him some tea. It helps him sleep almost immediately, that he does not have to go through the pain of heat. It makes me happy sometimes just doing it for him. I came back to check if he drank it, but unfortunately, he did not.” she said, moving to the side so that i could see the cup that laid on his bedside that i had not seen before.
“oh” was all i could say. A bit of embarrasment washing through me as i stood there.
“you did not think i was doing something else did you?” i was queit, making a look of understanding hit her in the face. “it changes you,” she said letting out a breath. “the way you think, the way you act, please…” she said, grabbing my hands rather desperately “don’t let it eat you alive.” she said before dropping my hands as though they burned her.
She moved towards the door. “i can always help you to leave if you don’t know how” she offered, her face so innocent that i did not think much about it. For the first time, i felt calm, looking around.
“what do i even have here?” i whispered, feeling a sense of hate creeping in.
“you are starting to act like Veylith” her voice whispered at the back of my mind.
I forced a tear back in. “do i really leave? Do i just abandon everything?” i said outloud, hoping that someone would come and help me out of this dilema that i was in. But as usual, it was silent, nothing but the empty walls staring back at me.
I nodded, as though finally having the answer i was looking for.
He did not want me here. He basically said it himself, so why stay?’
I walked out the room, running through the hallway to look for one person, Beth.
It did not take long to find her because soon, we were standing face to face. With me breathing heavily and her standing there like she had been expecting me.
“Do it” was all i said as i steadied my breath and looked straight at her…
