Chapter 56 Confrontation

Chapter 56 Confrontation

Genesis's POV:

Until the makeup artist brought me to the makeup mirror, I still hadn't fully processed what was happening.

This was so unexpected. I couldn't help but look at Eli sitting behind me, waiting for my makeup to be done.

He happened to be staring at me. Through the mirror, our eyes met.

In that instant, I felt a bit dazed.

He raised an eyebrow, giving me a roguish smile in the mirror.

I pressed my lips together and signed to him. "Why are you doing all this for me?"

Yesterday I had treated him so badly.

As Don Martinez's most beloved youngest son, Eli had never been treated like that by anyone since childhood. Even Christian was polite to him on the surface.

The way I treated him was like tearing away all his dignity. Yet he didn't seem to mind at all?

Eli shrugged, as if he hadn't done anything remarkable. "Weren't you mad at me? You didn't even reply to my messages when I was escorting the weapons. I figured I should do something to make you happy."

I looked at Eli's somewhat uncomfortable expression. This young master had never tried to please a woman before. Plenty of women threw themselves at him.

"Since you didn't like the flowers, I asked those women I used to know yesterday. But they only suggested jewelry and handbags. Too ordinary. So I had to ask Susan what you liked."

Eli was just a playboy. He had many women. I was just one of his toys.

I felt sorry for missing out on designer bags and jewelry.

Actually, I liked jewelry and handbags too. Eli didn't need to think I was so special.

I thought the driver's license thing was Eli's limit. I didn't expect he would ask Susan about these small things just to please me.

Eli stepped forward, placing his hand on my shoulder. "So? Are you still angry?"

Actually, the reason I was angry wasn't what he imagined at all. But I didn't know how to tell him, so I tried to change the subject.

"Did escorting those weapons go smoothly? You didn't encounter any danger, did you?"

These days, there hadn't been any news about switched weapons in the Martinez family. No one seemed to know about it.

I was curious how Eli managed to escape the FBI investigation.

Mentioning that incident, Eli's face immediately darkened.

He sneered. "Not exactly smooth. Some stupid rats switched my cargo. Christian probably bought them off. I'm investigating who it was. Should find out soon."

"How did you solve it?" I continued asking.

At this, Eli looked somewhat proud. "I have a mole in the FBI. They tipped me off in time. I switched the cargo beforehand and solved it."

My hands trembled slightly. I felt despair in my heart.

So that's how it was!

Maybe from the beginning, Eli had never been truly harsh with me. That made me lower my guard against him. I really underestimated him and the mafia's capabilities!

I actually thought I could trap him like that and force him to go to South Africa! Could I really escape from his hands?

Eli saw my pale face and helplessly held my hand. "I came back, didn't I? What are you worrying about? You're too timid."

I couldn't exactly say I wasn't worried about him at all and even hoped he would get caught. I could only go along with what he said.

"Don't worry. Even if that cargo really reached its destination, I could have handled it." Eli smiled. "Don't know who reported it to the FBI midway. They really helped me out this time!"

I suddenly looked up at him, disbelief in my eyes. What was he saying? I helped him?!

Eli didn't notice my shock and continued. "Christian is so vicious. He definitely would have waited until the stuff reached its destination and things got serious before reporting. If this person hadn't reported early, even if I solved it, I would have lost Jordan's trust. I should thank that person."

I almost wanted to cry. So I actually helped Eli myself? If I could, I really wished I could go back in time. I would never send that report even if it killed me!

"Your eyes are a bit sensitive. You're tearing up while I'm doing your eyeliner." The makeup artist's voice came at the right time. I helplessly pulled at the corners of my mouth, forcing an ugly smile.

Eli sat back in his original position, coldly instructing. "Be careful."

This news shocked me too much. Until the makeup was finished, I didn't speak to Eli again.

After makeup, I was arranged to wear a gorgeous princess dress. The long train spread across the floor.

I wore a beautiful crown on my head, like a real princess.

Eli looked at me with amazement in his eyes. He walked to my side and gently kissed me. "Baby, you're beautiful."

I wasn't used to being kissed by him in public. I immediately stepped back, looking at him warily.

Eli laughed in annoyance. "Start shooting."

I stiffly followed the photographer's instructions, running on the grass in front of the castle.

The flash went off. The smile on my face froze for a moment.

The photographer waved his hand, having me lie on the grass, posing as a princess resting in the afternoon.

But even with my eyes closed, my whole body remained stiff.

After taking a few solo shots, the photographer helplessly made a pause gesture.

He looked down at the photos in his camera, frowning slightly.

Even without him saying it, I could guess the photos I took probably didn't turn out well.

"How about this. You walk around this castle freely. Do whatever you want. I'll capture the rest myself."

Not needing to pose according to requirements, I relaxed much more. After the photographer took a few photos, he directed me to go upstairs.

"Baby, the scenery upstairs is better."

I followed his instruction and climbed the stairs. When I reached the middle, I suddenly heard Eli calling my name from below.

I turned back to look down and happened to meet Eli's gaze.

He was looking up slightly. Those gray-blue eyes were focused intently on me, filled with deep emotions I couldn't fathom.

I stopped in shock, meeting his gaze across the staircase. For a moment, I forgot to look away.

"Perfect!"

Not until the photographer's excited voice rang out did I startle and come back to my senses.

The photographer excitedly walked to Eli's side, showing him the photo he just captured.

"That moment when you two looked at each other was so beautiful!"

"Please take some couple photos for us." Eli made a request to the photographer.

No!

I immediately waved my hands. If people from the Martinez family saw our photos, I would be finished!

"Baby, don't be shy. We've done more intimate things. It's just a few photos, isn't it?"

Eli thought I was embarrassed to show our sweetness in front of others. He tried to persuade me, then walked upstairs, took my hand and pulled me into his arms.
