Chapter 48 Betray

Chapter 48 Betray
Eli's POV:

"If I find out who betrayed us, I'll personally blow his brains out!" Walker hadn't expected such a thing to happen right under his nose. He was furious.

I threw the gun in my hand back into the box with a dark expression.

"We'll deal with that later. Right now, the most important thing is solving the problem at hand."

The FBI would arrive tomorrow morning. We didn't have much time left.

Walker anxiously paced in circles, gripping his pistol with a pale face. "The problem is, where are we going to find that many weapons now?"

"Take your men back to Karys Canyon." I thought for a moment, then gave orders in a low voice.

Walker looked surprised. "You mean the canyon we passed yesterday?"

I nodded. "That's the only route into the southern region. You'll take your men there and hold off the FBI for a morning. Buy us more time."

Walker immediately left with his men, while I took out my phone and called Archibald.

"I don't have time to explain, but I need weapons. 2000 M4A1 Carbines, 1000 SIG Sauer P320/M17s, 500 120mm mortars, and 800 Night Vision Goggles. I need them delivered by tomorrow morning."

Archibald sounded shocked. "Everything else is fine, but I don't have 2000 M4A1 Carbines. I've got 1000 at most."

M4A1 Carbines were hot commodities. Nobody kept that much inventory on hand.

Even if I wanted to buy them elsewhere, they definitely wouldn't arrive by tomorrow morning.

I considered this. "Send what you have first. I'll figure out the rest."

Archibald agreed readily. He didn't even ask what I needed them for or mention money.

We had a life-and-death friendship. We trusted each other completely. He trusted me like he trusted himself.

But the remaining 1000 M4A1 Carbines were still a problem.

I wanted to drag Christian over and kill him right now! That bastard! You didn't need to think hard to know this was connected to him!

Once I solved this mess, I'd definitely go back and settle the score with him!

Inigo and I exchanged glances. We had the same thought.

"The Nelson family has been doing business with overseas arms dealers recently. They definitely have M4A1 Carbines," Inigo told me.

I irritably lit a cigarette.

I lost a shipment, and they just happened to have one ready. Wasn't that too convenient?

Plus I knew they'd been colluding with Christina all along, working against me behind the scenes.

But I had no other choice. And I could use this opportunity to investigate their cooperation.

I pulled out my phone and called Don Nelson.

Don Nelson was much harder to deal with than Delilah. "This isn't simple. You know, if I give you this shipment first, I'll have to delay delivery to my client."

He pretended to look troubled. I knew he was trying to squeeze me.

"Name your price," I said.

Don Nelson laughed helplessly. "Alright, for my daughter's sake, I'll give you this shipment first. The price is 180,000 dollars."

That old bastard!

This price was double the market rate! He knew I was desperate and deliberately jacked up the price!

Fine. Whether he could actually get this money would depend on his skills.

Genesis's POV:

I took out my phone and stared blankly at my conversation thread with Eli.

It had been three days since Eli last messaged me. He hadn't contacted me since.

I calculated the time. The FBI should have already investigated Eli's weapons shipment by now. Eli was definitely furious and worried about how to solve this problem. He wouldn't have time to bother me for a while.

I happily put my phone back in my bag. I finally didn't have to worry about how to get rid of him anymore.

By the time he returned from South Africa, I'd already be in Novien. He wouldn't be able to find me.

"What's the good news? You're smiling so happily," Forth came over.

Since I'd made things clear with him last time, he'd been down for a while, but now he could communicate with me normally again.

Everything was going so well. I felt like all my troubles were slowly being resolved.

Forth asked quietly, "Did Novien University of Technology send you an offer?"

I shook my head. How could it be that fast?

Even after submitting my application, it would take about a month. I wanted to receive my acceptance letter even more than Forth did.

I didn't want to discuss this too much at school, in case Maria or someone else found out I was going abroad.

\[We've finished going over the Midterm Exam papers. I should head home.\] I simply ended the conversation and packed my bag to leave.

My Learner's Permit wasn't ready yet. I had to complete the test quickly before Don Martinez discovered Eli's situation. Otherwise, once the Martinez family was in chaos, Savannah would definitely take the opportunity to make things difficult for me, and it would be hard to take the test again.

But Forth reached out to stop me. "I did really well on this exam, thanks to your tutoring."

He pulled out an elegant gift bag and handed it to me.

"This is a gift I specially picked out over the weekend to thank you," Forth said sincerely.

I accepted it. Inside was actually an exquisite pendant. The pendant was shaped like a planet, with my initial "G" in the bottom corner. I loved it at first sight.

\[Thank you.\] I thanked Forth and immediately hung it on my bag.

Seeing my action, Forth's smile became even brighter.

I got in the car in a good mood. Ethan looked at me with some surprise. "You already know?"

\[Know what?\] I was full of questions.

Ethan shook his head. "Nothing. I just noticed you're particularly happy today."

I didn't respond. I couldn't exactly tell him I was happy because his boss was about to be sent to South Africa and couldn't bother me anymore.

I returned home and hadn't even had time to rest when Savannah had someone call me to the garage.

I felt uneasy about Savannah suddenly summoning me. When she looked for me, it was never anything good. She either lectured me or insulted me.
