AMANDA
I blinked, trying to avoid looking into his eyes that holds so much of pain. "And you said that you'll never hurt me." I whispered, when my jaw started aching under his firm grip.
He quickly let go of me and maintained a breathable distance. "Shit..I'm sorry- I didn't mean to..."
"And you're drinking liquor. Nice." I added, not being able to withstand the fact that he's all drunk and wasted just because I left him.
He sighed. "I-I can't live without you, Amanda. I swear I'll die."
My heart fell heavy and it took all in me to not say those words back to him. I can't live without him too but I don't have enough strength to stay after knowing his ugly reality.
"Let's get with the divorce and end everything." I said.
He looked back to me, his jaw ticking again.
I let out a dry chuckle. "You want to kill me, don't you?"
Hearing my words, he took steps back and in frustration, rubbed his palms over his face. The harsh sound of his breathing went to ears and it was just that I despise him so much yet my heart's breaking for me.
If only I could have amnesia and forget all about him. I don't want to remember him. Because that's too much for my heart to take.
"How can I kill you, Amanda? You're my reason to live." He replied.
"I want divorce, Marco." Ignoring him, I said.
"Say that again and I'll fucking kill myself." He hissed, clenching his fists.
Screw you. I've had enough of this shit. "I.want.divorce." I stressed each and every word.
He raised his eyebrows as if to mock me and then grabbed an empty alcohol bottle. His expressions told me that he's about to do something to make me regret what I said but I had no idea exactly what he upto.
And then after a short pause, he smashed the glass bottle on his head.
I shrieked in shock. "What are you doing, Marco?" I yelled at the top of my lungs. My nerves freezing in fear.
He took another bottle and then smashed it over his head, again. "You'll divorce me, right?" And he shamshad one more bottle.
I looked at him fear, not knowing what to do. "A-Marco...."
"You'll fucking leave me, right?" He smashed the bottle again.
I shook my head. My body shaking with fear. I rushed to him and grabbed his forearm. "P-Please... Don't...I-I won't ever bring divorce again." I cried, my heart aching when I saw blood pouring down from his head.
He stopped. "You'll come back home with me or not?" He asked, taking another bottle.
"Yes..Yes..I will...Please don't hurt yourself." I whispered in between my sobs.
Nausea hit me hard and for a moment, I forgot everything. All my eyes can see is the blood that was running through the side of his head.
I closed my eyes for a second and took his hands into mine. "Let's go to hospital."
He pulled me to him till I collided with his chest, our eyes met and he did something unexpected. He placed a kiss on my forehead. "Either this life with you or not at all, love."
You can't this to me, Marco. You can't.
But nevertheless, I nodded and took him out. In our way, I found Rey outside the restaurant. When he saw me, he quickly rushed to me. "They didn't let me enter inside. You okay?" And then his eyes fell on Marco. "Who's he? And oh my-his head's bleeding."
"Can you please take me to the nearest hospital." I said to which he just nodded.
"Ah, my head." He groaned, waking up from the sleep.
I flickered my eyes to him and almost rolled my eyes when he touched his head and moaned in pain. He should've thought about this before he pulled out that crazy act last night.
I stood up from the couch to check his wounded head when he saw me. He blinked, trying to process everything. "Amanda? What are you doing here....I mean how...Uh, what's wrong with my head?" He clenched his eyes shut and rested his head against the bedpost.
"You were wasted. You held me by my jaw when I asked you for divorce. Then you threatened me by smashing liquor bottles over your head. So yeah, do the maths, why your head's hurting and why I'm here." I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
His eyes widened in suprise. "I...I don't know what you're talking about."
Course, why would you remember any of it? Your drunken state is hazardous for health. Last time it almost killed me and now you hurt yourself.
"What would you like to have for breakfast?" I asked, despite my sour mood.
He stared at me in confusion. "You're really here or am I just hallucinating?"
I clicked my tongue. "Porridge would be better, I guess."
And with that I went downstairs to cook the damn breakfast. God, I don't know how to cook a decent food.
When I got here last night, the house was mess. His room was piled up with empty alcohol bottles and used cigarette butts. All the windows were closed and his house felt dead. Then I came to know that he had told all his helpers to not come. There wasn't a sight of food in the kitchen. What had happened in these last three months?
I leaned against the kitchen's counter and exhaled a deep breath.
I was scared. I was scared of him and most of all for him.
Now, I can't leave him. I don't want to leave him. What if he destroys himself? I'm very sure that he'd hurt himself if I don't stay with him.
This is all so fucked up.
The thing for which he hated me so much, he ended up doing worse.
I really don't know what to do. But I can't see him in pain.
How can someone be this much in love that they hurt themselve to make the other person stay? I've never heard this kind of story before. Sure, I can do anything for him but purposely harming myself even if it can be threatening to my life? I don't think I'd ever have that kind of guts to do something like this.
What kind of person is Marco? It feels as if I don't know anything about him.
He's dangerous and scary.
My whole world will collapse if someday I happen to confront him. He'd confess and then? And then what am I supposed to do?
This is so wrong.
