AMANDA
"This place used to be where I grew up. Not in these buildings or anything but before construction of these, there was a small home of mine with hundreds of others." He said, pointing at the buildings which were now becoming lifeless.
I scurried my eyebrows, trying to process everything because his facial expressions were more than happy. They were of genuine content. I wonder what's the reason behind this?
"I'm not getting it, Marco." I said, scrunching up my nose a little as a blow of wind mixed with dust hit my face.
"You remember the project I told you about? This is it. I'm planning to renovate it to something more cheaper and more adorable for people who don't have sufficient money." He explained, looking around with a smile on his face.
And that's when it hit me. He's taking about the project he won over that man who once destroyed his family. I remember him telling that how important this project for him was. I thought that it was merely he wanted revenge from that sick man but Marco had actually planned to build something out of this that'll be helpful to many people.
Most probably he won't gain tonnes of riches from this but that's what he wanted right? To turn back the land from shopping complexes to affordable housing?
A proud smile graced my lips and I couldn't help but place a soft kiss on the back of his hand. "It's impossible for me to not love you."
He didn't say anything but man, his damn dimpled smile made me weak to my knees.
We walked a little with him by my side explaining to me every single detail about his project and even though I didn't get the business language much, I enjoyed listening to him talk so passionately as if this was the moment he was wishing for. Well technically, he wished for this only.
"Wait. Let me tie it, you'd stumble in your clumsiness." He said out of blue, pulling me out of my trance.
"Huh?"
He sat on the ground and started tying my shoe lace that was dangling open. I was about to make him stop but there was no use of it. He was already doing it. I looked around and it felt strange. I mean we were surrounded by his men in black suit with guns in their hand, almost ready to shoot anyone if they try to hurt us and then there was paparazzi around us who were clicking pictures continuously. The investors, his business partners, people from rich background and people whose net worth were probably aiming the sky, all were present here, busy with inspecting the site and some watching us intently.
Imagine a billionaire on his knees in front of everyone, tying the shoe lace of his wife. This isn't supposed to make me special but oddly it does. I was never a fan of attention but watching this man worshipping me, it feels crazy.
"Thank you." I whispered. "And you shouldn't do something like this. People are watching us."
"Let them. You're my wife, I'm not doing anything illegal." He replied.
Right. I'm your wife.
If someone would've told me few months back that I'd be having the best time of my life with him, I would've laughed my ass off. It was unexpected for me to fall for him.
"Come, there's someone who wants to meet you." He tugged my wrist and we went inside the building where there was a little party going on, well more like people discussing business.
"Here, he's Atlas Barrette, my old friend and Atlas, here's my wife; Amanda." He introduced me to a man. Well fuck, a gorgeous man with blue eyes and brown hair.
He smiled at me and offered me his hand. "Pleasure to meet you."
"Like wise." I said, still dazed with how good he looks.
And next to him, there was a woman in cargo pants and shirt. She had gun in her hands. She looked beautiful though. Wait, is she her bodyguard or something?
Woah! What kind of trope is this? A billionaire and his female bodyguard?
I smiled at her and she gladly returned the gesture. Marco excused himself to have a conversation with Atlas which made me alone with Hazel; his bodyguard.
“I’ve heard about you in news.” She tried to build up a conversation.
“I don’t know what to say…” I let out an awkward laugh.
“You can lead me to the food section, I’m dying out of hunger.” She said to me.
“Sure. I’m famished too.”
I was about to go with her when my eyes fell on a familiar figure. My body tensed watching her here.
I bite on my lips and reluctantly walked to her. “Step mother.” I greeted her, coolly though my heart was pounding weirdly.
“Look at you, huh. Made the richest man of the country to tie your shoelace in front of everyone. Impressive.” She smiled, her lips smacking in mock appraisal.
“Fuck off.” I spat, not bothering to spoil my mood while talking to her.
“Trust me darling, I’m not here to ruin your perfect marriage that’s on the ruins of revenge for killing his girlfriend. I’m here to tell you something about your husband. Thought you might like to know this little piece of information.”
