CHAPTER 42
"Where are you?" I asked Brent immediately when he answered my call.
"It's downtown, near Michelle's condo. I visited Elise," said Brent.
"It's good that you're only in the city. Please text me the address and I will come to you," I said in a restrained voice. Honestly, I wanted to hurt because of what happened to Amir. Like, what the fuck! No one can hurt my boyfriend even Adam's apple is beautiful to look at. He's skinny!
It's just that, I'm really fed up with Brent. Let's assume that Amir went first, but he probably knew that the Arab was not used to beatings, so he continued to fight, until Amir's ribs were fractured.
When I arrived at Regal, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the condo. Brent said it was downtown, but the said condo is in SRP, near SM Seaside. Adjacent to Regal is the also famous San Remo. Infairness to Michelle, she maintained being high maintenance.
"I'm in the parking lot," I said in the text I sent to Brent.
"Okay, just a moment." the man replied.
While waiting for the man, I called the private nurse I had enlisted to closely monitor the man's condition. "How is he, Miss?" I asked the woman.
"He's still asleep, Ma'am." This is the answer.
"It's fine, as long as he wakes up, call me right away, okay? Thank you very much," I said before cutting our call because I saw Brent coming towards me. I was getting more and more angry and the man even manage to run towards me. I got out of the car to meet him... with a couple of slaps! It's just a joke, of course we have studied something because we should be calm.
"Jamie, why did you come here? Did you miss me?" The man smiled as he asked.
Wow! It's really thick! "Just went, missed right away? FYI, I'm here to ask you why you have to do that?" The man frowned after I asked but I knew he understood what I meant.
"You're angry," said the man.
"Who wouldn't be angry at what you did? You beat my boyfriend badly!" I raised my voice at him. If I was able to forgive him for cheating on me then, I can't forgive what he did to Amir.
"Your boyfriend right away? What about me?" Brent squealed.
"We don't have one, and you know it!" I pronounced each word carefully to make it clearer to his hearing.
"I still love you, Jamie." Brent said.
"Well, thank you! But a lot has changed, Brent. I love Amir, anyway, the reason why I came here is not about the love life of the three of us. I just want to let you know that if Amir has a damaged organ, I will never be able to make you laugh or I might even call the police." I let out a long litany before him.
"Damaged organs? Why? And what does that have to do with me?" The man asked in confusion.
"What does it have to do with you? You are the only person who beat him," I said.
"I didn't beat him, eh. It was just a fight because of a misunderstanding," Brent said.
"Not beaten, but the man has fractured ribs. I don't know you! You know that you are more trained than him when it comes to physicality, so you should have adjusted! Look at what happened, it looks like we will be destroyed forever." I warned him.
"Jamie naman," said Brent and tried to take my hand but I immediately hid it behind my back.
"Maybe being on good terms is not for us. Maybe it's better for us to be enemies. Just remember this, if something happens to my boyfriend, you will be responsible to me!" I glared at him before turning around but I heard him call my name so I stopped walking for a while.
"I don't want you to be angry with me," said Brent.
"I don't want that to happen considering what we both went through, but when it comes to Amir, that's a different matter." I said okay Brent.
"You love him that much?" The man asked.
"Yes. And I loved you like that before, you just wasted it." I said, and the last thing I said to him had quite an impact. I'm not the type to flaunt whatever I have, it's just that, at the time when he sees the man who makes my heart beat again, I want him to feel remorse for why he wasted me before.
"I had no choice!" He reasoned out.
"Wrong. You had a choice, but who am I? right? So you were able to leave without saying goodbye because I have no use for you!" I finally told him what I wanted to tell him for a long time.
"You know that's not true! I loved you Jamie, and I still love you." Brent added.
"It's too late, because I'm already in love with someone else. Just focus on your family, okay? Hey, is that Michelle?" I pointed to the woman with a child coming towards us.
Brent looked at the woman I said and frowned. "Because they are leaving," said Brent.
"And you won't come?" I asked him.
"Jamie, Michelle and I are gone. Whatever came between us now, it's because of Elise." Brent explained.
"Where is it?" I asked him.
"Which?" he responded with a question when he didn't understand what I said.
"Who cares? That's your issue, so you fix it. I told you earlier, to start praying right now! If Amir's situation worsens, I might kill you." I said.
"Dead immediately? Can't you beat me first like I did to your boyfriend?" Brent asked with a smile.
"Watch your language, Brent. I didn't like you calling him weak," I scolded him. I was going to add something but Michelle and Elise have already arrived. I smiled at the girl, and she smiled back, but Michelle looked like a demon. Bes is very angry, and seems to want to hurt! Well, I won't back down from him just in case!
"The fittings are really different now," Michelle said after letting her daughter into the car.
"Who's hooked? Me?" I laughed at Michelle's expression because I was not shocked by her spicy words.
"Is there anything else?" Michelle asked politely.
"You and Brent are gone. You are separated," I said.
"And you believed it? FYI, Jamie. Honey, why didn't you tell him that our divorce is not final yet?" Michelle added.
When I looked at Brent's behavior, he turned. Can't see properly? Ayyy looks like there is a tinge of truth in what Michelle said. But why would he lie to me? "So, you're not divorced yet?" I asked him.
"Not yet," Brent replied shortly.
If I was able to hold back earlier, not now. All of a sudden, anger fell from my chest. "You lied!" I said, and gave him a couple of slaps. "You lied!" I repeated my line before I got into the car and left the Regal.
