Chapter 211 SHE'S ALIVE..SHE'S OKAY....SHE'S HERE
AURORA’S POINT OF VIEW.
I hadn't known when my legs moved. I rushed over to her, a sob threatening to spill from my lips while I cried silently. It wasn’t until I wrapped my hands around her neck, and she wrapped hers around my waist, that I finally believed….she’s alive…she’s okay….she’s here.
“Mommy.” I cried silently, my tears staining her dress at the shoulder. I felt her release a sigh of relief, her thin hands stoking my hair tenderly. “I never thought I would see you like this again.”
“Mommy’s here now, baby….I’m here, I promise. And I’m never leaving.” She breathed against my hair, taking in my scent with long inhales. She tried to pull back, but I gripped on tighter, fear of her disappearing if I let go even by a little bit too raw.
“Aurora, honey. I need to take care of business now. I promise, we have all the time in the world now that Armando’s gone.” She said, her voice so soft, it reminded me of the lullabies she sang to me as a child. Songs I would give anything to hear again before I drifted to sleep.
“Okay….” I said, pulling back with a nod. She smiled, grabbing me by the cheek gently before kissing my forehead. I waited for her to let me go, or allow me to let her go, but she held onto my hand, using her other hand to take off her sunglasses before handing them over to Silas.
He appeared shocked and taken aback that she even did that. As was I, but mom did not appear fazed. She turned to him, her hand with the pair of glasses in the air. With a deadpanned glare, she said, “Take these damn things from me, Silas. I have a house to clean up.” He shook his head, still as shocked, but for some reason, his eyes appeared light.
He took them from her and placed them into the pocket of his pants, and grabbed the cane with both hands. I heard him mumble, “You really haven’t changed, have you, Everleigh?”
‘And nor have you, Silas.” Mom turned with an amused smirk. I watched the exchange between them weirdly, before turning to Kai, who also appeared lost. He shrugged his shoulders as if to say he was as informed as I was on this. “Still an old grouch.”
“I am not old.” He said too fast, before clearing his throat awkwardly, practically dancing on his feet.
“And I’m the queen of Austria, love.” Mom retored but before Silas could speak, she pulled me along, not bothering to stop until we stopped at the stage. That was when I noticed she had a document in her hands. “Irene,” Mom said coolly, regarding the chairwoman with sharp eyes, before facing the waiting crowd. She seemed to have it out for the clans in particular.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the Orsini and Vaihalla, I have an announcement. Without beating about the bush, per this signed document by the actual chairwoman of the Orsini clan, I am to resume as the official head effective immediately.”
“What?” Irene jumped with a hiss. “Who the hell signed that? How dare you come to my kingdom? How dare you try to steal my throne?”
“Old lady Gilga, the first chairwoman of this clan in over ten decades, signed the right away to me at exactly eleven in the morning yesterday, right before she passed away. We have both video, audio, and eye witness proof of this fact.”
“ha!’ Irene scoffed. “You expect anyone to believe your words, or anything from that old bat? I am the original head of this clan. Me! I built us, and no one can take me down.” She glared, folding her arms.
“As I was saying,” Mom ignored her entirely. “My name is Everleigh Evermore, of the Evermore dynasty….I am no longer a De la Vista as soon as my husband signs the divorce papers, of course… and I will make sure to faithfully serve you.”
“How dare you ignore me, Everleigh? I was your senior in Ravenscroft High years ago, along with Miss Ravenscroft herself. You cannot dare do this. Besides, there must be a valid reason for my dismissal. And there is none. I have been a model leader.”
“Would you deem being a model leader’s actions as aiding and abetting the alleged criminal Armando De la Vista to maneuver funds from Vista line Air into your offshore accounts in Saudi Arabia, all so you could afford a couple more diamonds at my expense…..you know, because your partnership with my husband required my prolonged suffering, and ultimate death?”
