Chapter 207 SCAVENGERS
KAI'S POINT OF VIEW.
"She used a knife," I said, my voice barely above a whisper, yet it carried to the rafters. "She hurt me, but at least she never pretended to be an angel. She owned the devil she was, Denise. You, on the other hand, plotted. You attempted murder. And do not bother lying. Your doctor friend and the nurse? Yeah, they have been arrested already. You are the final piece in the puzzle.
That DNA report shows that your daughter is the real bastard. You got her help to get the poison to the hospital. Everleigh was weeks ago.
And you did not do it without the help of your greatest partner in crime, right?” I smirked, willing myself to give her the most intimidating glare I could muster. She gulped, her lower lip wobbling.
"Kai, please…" Armando started, his voice cracking with fear he could not hide. My anger was mostly with him. Not because he was complacent, but because he was the one with the thickest head.
"Shut up, Armando," I snapped, not even looking at him or Denise anymore. My eyes were on Irene. "Tell me, Irene. Does the Orsini clan still stand by the rules of family when the family in question is a nest of parasitic murderers? Or do we finally admit that the so-called whore and apparent bastard you’ve been sneering at all night are the only ones in this room with clean hands?"
Irene didn't speak. She couldn't. She looked at the screen, then at Denise, and finally at Aurora. The shift in her eyes was glacial but final. She looked at Aurora with a sudden, sharp clarity, as if seeing the real owner of the De La Vista bloodline for the first time in a decade.
“Denise….you have five seconds. If you do not confess to your crimes, I’ll set it all off.” I warned, still not watching her. But I felt her tremble, smelled her fear, and lived in it. Aurora stared at her stepmother, surrounded by the only family I know besides Silas. They all watched with sharp eyes filled with rapt attention. They were on alert. I knew it.
“One, two….three…four..” I counted.
“Okay!” Denise yelled. “I’ll talk.”
“Denise!” Armando hissed, stepping up to her like a soldier. She moved away, running like a chased mouse before backing into a corner.
“Armando…he did it all with me. We worked together, along with Morgan, to get rid of Aurora and her mother. We have been in love for a long time. He only married Everleigh to please his parents. The plan was always to kill her off once his parents wrote the will. But they gave it all to that bitch and her offspring.” She hissed. “So Armando and I had to re-plan. We decided to kick them out and kill her slowly. If Everoleigh stayed in a coma, we could do as we pleased, spending her money all we want, forging signatures, transferring assets while her child suffered.”
"I SWEAR, I WILL KILL YOU, DENISE!" Armando hissed through gritted teeth, rushing to her with the speed of light. He grabbed her by the throat, squeezing so tight her face turned purple.
"Dad! stop it." Morgan hissed, rushing to him, trying to pry his hands from her mother's throat.
"I am not your father, you pathetic bastard. After all I did for you, Denise? Really?" he questioned. "I killed my parents for you. I killed that stupid doctor who wanted to run the autopsy. I killed my father's lawyers....how dare you?! I'll kill you too. I am already headed to hell anyway. I might as well go out with a bang."
"Detective," I called out, my voice ringing with a finality that made Denise, Armando, and a still sobbing Morgan shiver. "I believe you’ve heard enough of the confession."
