Chapter 191 TAKE MY TIME WITH IT.
AURORA'S POINT OF VIEW
“Oh, please!” Morgan yelled. “Let’s not believe this thing between Kai and Aurora is even real. I’m sure he's using her to get back at me.
We all know no guy could ever get over me. Besides, she is obviously using him for his money….I mean, Aurora, where did you get the money for those clothes? The jewelry and the haircut….you’re too poor to afford it anyway.” She glared, but the jealousy was not hidden.
“Well, since I have a dashing fiancé, he got them for me……everything was taken care of by my man. But you can't relate, since you’re with Tobi….can he even afford to buy you coffee?”
The crowd erupted into a chorus of "Oohs" and muffled laughter. The atmosphere was even more electric with each minute, every phone in the room capturing Morgan’s slow-motion social suicide. She looked like a cornered animal; all the it-girl polish she once wore had vanished, leaving behind a desperate girl who realized she was losing the only thing she valued: her status.
Morgan lunged forward suddenly, her hand reaching out as if she wanted to rip the very fabric from my body. "You're lying! You’re a charity case playing dress-up! You’re still the girl with the yogurt in her hair! You’re still my bitch!"
I didn't move an inch, nor did I feel a slight sense of danger. Not while Kai stood beside me. Kai’s grip on my waist tightened, and his body moved right in front of mine so he was an immovable wall of protection.
"You're obsessed with the past, Morgan. I’m no longer someone you can control. I am now on the same level as you….hell, I’m your queen, and you’re my bitch. The man you call father, although the DNA report claims otherwise, abandoned you the second I got approval from Silas Mercer.”
“What….Silas approved her?” They gasped.
“We all know what that means. Silas is reported to have never approved of any girl before….Aurora is the new Mercer queen!”
Silas never approved of Morgan. She said he had….hell, Kai told me he did, and we had to make him approve of me so she could be out of the way.
"But look at the present. Tobi ran away like a dog with its tail between its legs. Your mindless sheep are currently wondering if they should start following me instead, since they have no loyalty.” She turned to glare at Anthonia, and Melody, both of them stood like deers caught in headlights once she did.
A sheepish look crossed their face, but only a fool would not see that they were about to jump ship. That’s the thing about this school.
No one was truly loyal. Everyone kissed up to the ass or ring of the one with enough money…. Once someone else topples it, they’d switch sides.
Everyone wanted to kiss Lucin’s ring, but he only spoke to a handful of people. Sloane, the horsemen, Amara, and Seraphina. I doubt anyone else actually exists to him.
Because they refused to hang around with the rest of the school, they all fought for second best….or rather, tenth best, since the horsemen and their girls took up space.
“And as for the money? Father did give me access to his accounts, but I didn’t need to use them. My fiancé has more than enough to take care of me…and see, I got these clothes because I thought they were pretty. But Kai? He didn't buy me these clothes because of that alone, He bought them because he likes taking them off."
The silence that followed was deafening. Even Kai let out a low, dark chuckle that vibrated against my side.
The collective intake of breath from the students was loud enough to drown out the distant thumping bass of the low music thrumming throughout the mansion. Morgan’s eyes bulged, her mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. I could see the exact moment her reality shattered, the moment she realized that scholarship girl, the one she despised, the girl she and her mother threw out into the cold, was now the woman who could buy her family's debt just for the fun of it.
Not only was Armando De La Vista no longer my family, but I also knew he was swimming in debt from his bad decisions. And I would never be the one to get him out of it.
He kicked my mother out, destroyed our family, and acted selfishly….I’m choosing my mother….I’m choosing myself.
Beside me, Kai’s presence was as hot and unrelenting as a furnace. He didn't just stand there; he dominated, his tongue darting out to lick and kiss the spot where my neck and shoulder met, his shadow intimidating. I made sure to keep eye contact with Morgan as he kissed away. He leaned down, his lips brushing the shell of my ear, sending a jolt of heat straight to my core.
"You're a natural, Green," he rasped, loud enough for everyone close enough to hear….and that includes Morgan. Her eyes were wide with horror as if she were witnessing the conjuring. "But I think you forgot to mention... I don't just like taking them off. I like taking my time while I do it."
The crowd went into a frenzy at once. Somewhere in the back, I heard Amara cackle, and Ace whistled sharply….hell, even Lucien laughed along with the guys and girls.
As promised, we delivered a show….This was the social execution of the century.
