Chapter 94
CYRIL’S POV
How couldn't I have been more thoughtful? How could I have been so reckless and pushed on with the proceeds of the rituals! Despite Aloha's reports that Alessia's chances of survival considering the pregnancy had become lesser, I failed to think beyond my foolish resentment for her commitment to Thompson and blindly pushed on.
I should have put my pub first.
“Aloha!’’ I stretched a hand her way, struggling to fight back the painful tear that threatened to slip off my eye.
But she kept on going, her voice echoing in the wind and her gaze unwavering from the sky.
“Someone has to stop her. Someone should stop her right now….” I trailed off as a bright blue light glowed up in the darkness, overshadowing the golden lights of the candle.
“Hell no. We have to get him out of there.’’ Alan yelled, snatching my attention their way.
I couldn't understand the dread in their eyes, at least not until I realized what was going on myself. But they were fast. They appeared before me in a twinkle, pulling me up by both sides and dragging me back to our initial spot.
It was until we got back I realised what the whole chaos had been about. Aloha's eyes had gone void of her iris, leaving nothing close to humanity to her appearance. But Alessia was worse.
It turned out the light radiated from her. Her crescent moon tattoo had burned through her dress, radiating a bright glow of its blue features. Her eyes were widely opened but they shone with the same light effect, staring fixedly at the moon as if channeling the powers of her effect to it.
“No.’’ I whispered, unable to believe the sight in front of me. She looked nothing close to alive or natural!
The moon gleaming luminuously in response to Alessia's effect finally released a blinding light upon the circle, and both lights from Alessia and the moon merged midair with an overpowering force. Each fighting to overshadow the other, as if Alessia stood any chances against the moon.
It wasn't a surprise, but it was havoc when the merge backfired and swallowed up Alessia's figure in a striking explosion.
“No!!!’’ I screamed madly, tossing myself off Alan and Lance's grip.
“Let's get him out of here.’’ Lance alarmed.
Alan hijacked me instantly without arguments, and they both dragged me down the hill against my will.
I hated this vulnerability. Though I was slowly gaining back motion from the numbness of the catastrophic strike my intrusion into the sacred circle earned me, I couldn't win a struggle against them and successfully got thrown into the car.
“What do you both think you're doing right now, didn't you saw the situation back there?’’ I screamed madly. Not a single meaning I could read to their silly action!
“We saw everything that happened there like you did and that's why we brought you here instead.’’ Lance responded, tilting his head to Alan. “Get the wheels.’’
“Imma fucking kill you, Lance. Let me out of here.’’ I swore and meant it.
“I'm sorry, my king.’’ He clicked the lock once Alan occupied the driver's seat.
“You won't dare alive that engine, Alan.’’ I decreed, my heart thrashing against my chest, knowing totally well that I wouldn't do shit if he decided to act against my order.
“You leave me no choice.’’ Lance stated.
Digging his hand into the behind pocket of Alan's seat, he took out a loaded syringe and stabbed it in my shoulder in a flash, spreading the strange fluid into my blood.
“You. What… what in hell… was that?’’ I struggled to speak, feeling my insides dying instantly.
“Forgive me.” A smirk was the last picture of himls face I made out before darkness consumed me.
I parted my heavy lids with so much difficulty to welcome the blurry view of a white surface. My head pulsated with unheard sounds, my ears beeping too eerily to secure comfort.
“He's awake.’’ A voice announced.
“What? It's barely eight hours yet.” Another voice said, followed by screeching footsteps.
“He kept fighting the effect of the anastasia, so it couldn't hold him down that long.” The first voice answered, coming into view before me. “How do you feel, my king?’’
He was Alfred. And the other….. Lance?
Lance!
He'd injected me with the goddess knows what last night. And…. and…. the rituals. Aloha. Alessia.!
“What happened to them….’’ I tried getting up sharply, but lost hold of my weight. I fell back to the bed instantly.
“No, you can't.’’
Alfred rushed up quickly, running stuffs on my head which I only realised now, was connected with a series of wires to a beep machine which had been the device blasting my ears with its continuous beeping sounds.
“What is this?’’ I fumed, irritated by the vulnerability surrounding me.
“Your body is still quite weak from everything so you have to remain in bed for the meantime.’’ Alfred explained.
Unfortunately there was no way I'd lay down doing nothing like a fucking weakling.
I ripped off the wires from my head, gathered every nerve in me and pulled up my frame forcefully. I swept the bedding aside and got away from the bed.
‘‘My king.’’ Alfred tried stopping me but I was way out for silly games. Luckily Lance didn't try getting in my way and quietly stood aside.
I was left with no option than hoping to run into Alan since I was barely in reasonable clothes to have my phone on me. Well, I ran into Melanie instead along the passageway.
“My king!’’ She gasped, turning her back against me immediately.
‘‘Where's Alessia? Any chance she was brought back here last night?’’ I inquired, the least bothered by her ramshackle display.
Alan suddenly showed up from the same direction. He froze on his track upon sighting me. Still wasn't the least of my worries.
“Did you drive Alessia back last night?’’ I walked past Melanie to meet him, and another gasp left her lips before she ran off.
“Answer me, Alan.’’
“You're practically naked, my king!’’ Alan hushed instead in disbelief.
