HER
HER
Chapter 87
Cyril’s pov
My gaze paused, stunned by her astounding outburst.
I never saw that one coming. Not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined.
Lost for both words and motion, I chose to ignore her incongruous remark, lift
Brushing back her hairlines gently, I retracted from her figure, and from the bed. She kept staring without a move, batting her lashes slowly as reality hit her.
‘‘Get up. You should have a dish.’’
“You're.. you're going to be like that?’’ She ignored my statement, turning over to give me a stare.
“It's what you need to do right now. It's almost dinner time and you've only had lunch.” I pointed out, not without swatting a glance at my wrist watch.
I'd returned from a meeting with Alpha Crestwood, the high chairman of the eastern packs in which Silverstone served a territory at.
Thompson hadn't reacted much when he received news of his butchered mate. Instead, he'd reached out to Crestwood to lay former reports with claims that I'd been tormenting his pack. He probably thought there was any much Crestwood could do to affect me.
After the anniversary celebration where I'd found Alessia and met with Thompson for the first time, the next time I'd been involved in an occasion having Crestwood in it was the kingdom's last anniversary which Thompson failed to attend. Though Crestwood often forwarded mails of invitation to various functions to me. I just hadn't been opportuned to favour any.
Our friendship bounded just on that track; Forwarding complimentary emails, inviting each other for some necessary functions and favoring these invites whenever it sat well in our schedules.
Crestwood had reached out to me, laying Thompson's reports while expressing his keen confusion on the unexpected and prolly unbelievable discovery. As every other Alphas must have grown to know, as long as they were concerned, Thompson and I shared a nearly unbreakable relationship.
They weren't to be blamed, he did an immense job flaunting our friendship while it lasted.
“I'm not hungry.’’ Alessia cut out, adjusting the sheet to lay down again.
‘‘And why not?’’ I tried with less emotional gestures attached, simply scrunching my brows without a single move.
‘‘Why are you here?’’ She demanded squarely.
‘‘Isn't it obvious?’’ I asked back.
A scoff dropped from her lips, a pretty unfriendly one which did enough telling on her utter displeasure.
“If that's all then you should leave. I think I've attended to you.’’ She shut her eyes grudgingly.
I maintained the silence for a bit, running my stares through the slightly exposed parts of her face that weren't covered with hairs.
For some reason, her eyes suddenly flew open when I least expected, catching my stares.
I spun over immediately, searching for any objects closeby to plant my attention instead.
‘‘Why aren't you leaving?’’ She asked. “I said I'm not hungry.’’
“Unfortunately you have no options. If you must embark on the ritual process to ensure a successful result, you should at least feed.’’ I urged.
Now that was some new attitude, persuading someone over such a trivial matter. The goddess knows my visit here wasn't merely about meals!
She lets out another scary scoff. “It's the way you keep acting ignorant for me.’’
Alright. It was high time I addressed it.
“Still on that kiss?’’
“No, forget about it. Doesn't matter anymore!’’ She peeled the sheets off her frame anxiously, heading to the door already.
‘‘Alessia….’’
“You wanted me to have something, I'm off to eat now.’’ She stepped out, slamming the door after her.
“Okay that's new!’’ I said out loud, unable to conceal my perplexity at her raw behaviour.
First, she asked for a kiss out of the blues despite the nature of our relationship recently, and next she was getting awkwardly pissed that I discreetly tried to ignore her?
Where have I missed out on?
Walking down to the dining area, I waited by the door, quietly peeking into the space for a view of Alessia.
She ate so well, savoring the purely fruits dish with every luscious bite.
Aloha had detailedly informed me on the outcome of their brief meeting this morning but I didn't expect that Alessia would have to feed merely on fruits.
“My king.’’
I held back a jerk, turning instantly only to see Melanie. A breath of relief left me.
“Why is she having those?’’ I directed at her, my voice equal to whispers as I swatted my chin towards the room.
‘‘Pardon me, my king. She insisted. She wouldn't have anything else.’’ She lowered her face, slightly fidgeting.
I heaved a short sigh before turning to join Alessia in.
“Thompson, how did you manage to tame him?’’ Alessia spoke up, just as if she'd been waiting for me to show up.
‘‘I didn't need to do much, she deserved it…’’
“Ending her was extreme!’’ She snapped curtly.
I chose silence this time, needing to study her countenance first before proceeding with a response.
‘‘You were present, you saw how blatantly she insulted me.’’ I let out calmly, attempting to sync in her dimensions since it seemed she wasn't having it lightly.
She went silent. That dreadful silence that gets you questioning your thoughts on what could be going on in her mind.
I didn't want to push any further. I quietly focused on my meal once Melanie served it.
“She was his mate. Do you think he'll get over it that easily?’’ She stated.
Now that was it. I'd had enough!
“His mate huh? How about me then? Do you ever think about my feelings while hiding yourself away from me?’’
“What?’’ She looked up to meet my gaze, her breath seizing up.
‘‘Or are you still blindly in love with Thompson despite everything that has happened?’’
I dreaded hearing about it. I dreaded hearing the words that'd leave her lips in response. But I couldn't keep downing my curiosity. I needed to know at least.
I lost my patience when she wouldn't speak, dropping my cutleries to face her.
‘‘Tell me. You have plans to return with him after the rituals?’’
