KISS ME

KISS ME
Chapter 86

Alessia's pov

Ma'am Amira had mentioned it. She did mention that chances of survival were slim. But I didn't expect a ten out of fifty percent. That was way too harsh.

“Unfortunately, you're allowed to know about the risks involved and make a decision. That's the only way we are likely to get a positive reaction from the rituals. I mean it's not your fault that you got stuck in your fate, you may decide to save the kingdom or do otherwise. But know that it is the destiny you were born to fulfil.’’ Aloha went on explaining.

“Then why make it sound like I have a choice anyway?” I scoffed, in utter disbelief.

None of the words she had just spoken were in my favour, she still asserted the fact that couldn't escape taking on the rituals.

“It's general knowledge around here that you have no wolf, you must know that if the rituals goes on successfully your wolf might be released as well.’’ She further explained.

I knew about that. Was I expected to see that as the good side of the whole ordeal? That would only happen if I survived the process, as long as I was concerned it didn't count!

“Just tell me what I need to do. It's pointless.” I said.

‘‘The king has ordered that the rituals take place in the next three days at most. I'm to start helping you prepare before…..’’

“What do I have to do?’’ I interrupted her, having enough of the long talks already.

“She inhaled briefly. There is a procedure you're expected to follow. First, you mustn't take any substance having oil or salt in it. Tomorrow, you must visit the sacred parlour of the goddess for some minor activities to guide the effectiveness of the rituals. That is all for now.’’ She stood.

“I mean… I just had breakfast. That was…. salt in it?’’ It came as a question, guiding my bewilderment and scepticism.

“By mealtime tomorrow morning, before we are to move for the minor activities I mentioned, the salt must have been out of your system. Until then, stick to the orders I've given you.’’ She clarified.

I nodded slowly, relaxing a bit after hearing her explanations.

“I should be on my way now. I'll be back tomorrow to pick you up.’’ She stated, bowing shortly to my greatest surprise before leaving.

Was it really necessary?

“My lady.’’ Melanie showed up out of nowhere. Had she been hiding and watching for when Aloha would leave?

I stood without a word, setting for my bedroom.

“C'mon my lady. I'm sorry about the last time.’’ She followed stubbornly after me.

“What do you want, Melanie?’’ I retorted, turning to face her with flames in my eyes.

She stepped back.

I wasn't being too harsh. I was simply returning the gesture she first directed at me in my own ability.

“I'm sorry. The king asked me to do it.’’

‘‘So keep doing as he said. Why are you coming after me now?’’

‘‘He asked me not to leave your side.’’

Fuck you and your damn king! I almost yelled.

A scoff fell off my lips. “Are you both kidding me right now?”

“Are you doing fine my lady? You seem pale.’’ She moved her gaze to my exposed skin, reaching gently to take my arm.

“Cut it out.’’ I yanked myself away from her. “I've simply been under lots of stress lately.’’

“You should have some rest.’’

“Of course, that's exactly what I'm about to do but you keep stopping me.’’ I pointed out sarcastically.

She went quiet, taking in her bottom lip guiltily.

“I'm sorry, my lady. I should leave you alone now.’’ She bowed and turned around, walking away.

Was I too harsh? I didn't mean it that way.

“Fuck!’’ I spat silently, watching her figure until she disappeared into a corner.

I resumed towards my room and almost walked to the bed when a sudden spring of nausea hit my stomach. I rushed into the bathroom just in time, spilling my guts all over the washing sink.

My stomach kept churning in irritation, and I confirmed my guts hadn't been wrong when it inched me that the coleslaw from breakfast would be unacceptable to my system.

I was dazed. Blown away. Insanely dizzy, with a gripping ache on my brain as I lifted my face to the mirror.
I managed to put on the faucet, rinsed the unattractive puke into the flush hole and sprinkled some water against my face.

I dragged my feets back into the room and collapsed on the bed. This was the fastest speed at which I'd slept, I drifted instantly.

“My lady!’’ Melanie's voice echoed nonstop, disrupting my fairy dreams.

“Please wake up, it's past lunchtime already.’’ She said, and I guessed immediately what she was here for.

“I'm not hungry.’’

Well, that was the unbelievable truth.

I guess she must have given up after several attempts without success. I couldn't quite place a grip on what exactly happened in the end, I just knew Cyril's scents kept slipping in and out of my nostrils.

I parted my eyes open to meet a blurry huge frame standing by the window.

“Cyril?’’ I called out. The only name in my head. He'd managed to steal almost every scenario in my dreams. Probably an effect of his scents that'd filled up the room.

He turned. His image getting clearer with every second. It was really him.

He advanced slowly, eyes squinting my way.

“What are you doing here?’’ I asked, sitting up properly to get a clearer view of him.

“You're finally up.’’

I wasn't sure if he'd just made a statement or asked a question. I chose to stay silent instead.

Stopping by the bed, he gently took a seat right next to me. His pretty intense eyes settling busily on my face, like he was on a mission to examine my skin condition.

“Have you had enough sleep yet?’’ His lips parted to ask.

I'd lost myself, mesmerised! Unaware of how my gaze got to his lips, not a single word escaping me. No, I literally lost the ability to make a move with the proximity of our position.

A thin smile rose up at one edge of his pretty lips, one that had my heart skipping a beat.

‘‘I see you're purely awake now. You should come on and grab a….’’

“Kiss me.’’ I blurted out.
