Chapter 134 - Flying Chariot
“This is amazing!” Jack yelled as he peered down from the chariot.
The two white horses pulled the chariot into flight with their wings. This was the first time Jack had ridden in a flying chariot. He and Jasmine were seated facing Azulu who sat backing the horses.
The horses propelled the vessel into the air; night had fallen already but they could see in darkness thanks to their vision.
“Wow!” Jack spread his arms wide in the wind. “I love this!” He closed his eyes with his arms still spread.
This was the most amazing thing in his life so far. Flying in a plane was different from riding in an open flying chariot. For the very first time, he was really enjoying his stay in the land of the dead.
“You have to seat down and use the chaise belt!” Azulu yelled expressing his concern. Jack wasn’t supposed to be on his feet while the chariot is in flight mode. He should be seated with the chaise belt keeping him from falling in case there’s any wrong move made by the horses.
“Relax buddy, I’m fine.” Jack took a deep breath. “It’s not every time one gets to ride in a ride like this. I’m enjoying my…”
“Jack, Azulu is right.” Jasmine cuts in. “You need to sit and use the chaise belt for safety purposes.”
After much persuasion from Jasmine and Azulu, Jack finally obliged. His playtime is over. It’s time to focus on their mission and probably devise a plan to invade the Imperial Prince. With what they gathered from Azulu, the Imperial Prince has dozens of whisperers keeping guard in his abode.
Jack glanced at Azulu. “Do we have any plans?” he asked.
“None that I know of.”
“Then we should make a plan now.”
“It’s not necessary.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It’s just the whisperers and you can take on them as you did before.”
Jack glanced at Azulu with both eyebrows raised. “We need to devise a plan and not walk into a trap. I still have plans of getting out from here alive and well.”
The news of how Jack vanquished the whisperers with the Imperial Prince has spread to most of the territories in the land of the dead. Even Azulu have faith in him that he could do the same again.
Jasmine glances at them both with a wide-eyed gaze. “We need to devise a plan.”
“That’s will be…”
Azulu's words were pushed back as he caught a glimpse of the ghost-banshee flying at the speed of sound behind them. He swallowed a lump in his throat. With his hands stretched in the direction of the ghost-banshee, he opened his mouth and spoke in a quivering voice. “We have company. The ghost-banshee is right after us!”
Before Jack and Jasmine could swirl- - the ghost-banshee made a sonic scream aiming at the couple. The scream was so powerful that it came with a wind wave. The scream was aimed at the couple but was so powerful to throw the horses off their balance in the air.
Ghost-banshees’ sonic screams are the sound of sonic-based ability to generate incredibly strong hypersonic sound blasts of a different and higher, louder amplitude or frequency than that of a normal human.
As the horses lost their balance in the air and were about crashing to the trees, they flap their invisible wings incredibly fast propelling into the air steadying their balances.
Thanks to the chaise belt, Jack and Jasmine are not off the chariot. “Do something,” Azulu yelled. Azulu’s kind never wants to cross paths with the kinds of ghost-banshees. He gnawed at his bottom lip with his eyes shut.
Ghost-banshees have once terrorized the villages of the souls that have rest and most of these villages were destroyed by their sonic screams. They can emit an extremely powerful shriek of high amplitude for a variety of purposes from their vocal cord and mouth, typically for offensive purposes, like causing destruction. Azulu’s fear didn’t just start today because he has seen what the ghost-banshees are capable of doing.
“We should…”
Jack's words were driven back as another powerful sonic scream with a wind wave threw the horses off balance in the air.
“Oh no!” Azulu cried out. He has had enough of this already. He didn’t see this coming. “Sorry guys, but I have to go!”
As the horses were flapping their invisible wings to maintain their balance, Azulu removed his chaise belt as he disappeared into thin air.
“Son of a bitch!” Jack cried out rolling his eyes at Jasmine. “He could have disappeared with us!”
Jasmine held Jack’s hand. “We can get through this together,” she said.
The ghost-banshee isn’t giving up yet. The creature wants to see the chariot crash before attacking Jasmine and Jack properly.
Seeing that the horses have regained their balance, the ghost-banshee started flying at a terrifying speed of sound towards them.
Ghost-banshees never get tired of making a sonic scream. Their shriek is also considered wailing. This is the supernatural ability to unleash screams of an inhuman amplitude, capable of shattering glass and causing blood vessels to burst. This ability is possessed by Banshees and ghost-banshees, who can control the exact amplitude of their screams.
A sonic scream usually manifests as a destructive wave of sonic energy and can destroy anything in front of the user unless they turn around, moving the scream in the process. Normally whenever the user screams, it requires them to be extremely loud and have a perfect aim.
“Look, the creature is aiming at us!” Jack expresses concern.
The ghost-banshee locked on its target focusing its aim as a speeding fighter’s jet aiming at its target. With its mouth wide open, the creature lets out a shriek accompanied by a destructive wind wave.
