Chapter 92 Future Alpha?

Chapter 92 Future Alpha?

Third Person

A small envelope slipped through the barred window of the cell. Esmeralda, who could barely sleep from the sheer weight of her grief and pain, had received several others just like it. Every single one warned her of the danger she was in, telling her she needed to escape and to fear nothing because she wasn't alone.
"You have friends in the pack, people who truly care, and we won’t leave you behind!"
They all came with the same warning: destroy them immediately after reading. Esmeralda flushed them down the toilet.
A flicker of hope ignited in her heart, warming her will to live and fight. She anxiously opened the envelope. Inside, there were short, clear instructions on how to break out of the prison.
She lay back down, anxious, wondering who could be sending those notes. If only Alexa hadn't run away in terror before answering her questions…
Whoever it was, they were a likely ally, but they clearly didn’t want to get their hands dirty or be exposed. She understood. If anything went wrong, that person would be punished—most likely facing execution for betraying the Alpha and helping her escape.
The notes detailed an escape plan and the best time to move: right before the next sunrise. She would meet her benefactor outside after crossing the valley through the woods. The route would take her close to the Alpha’s manor, but the envelope didn’t just contain escape instructions. Inside, there was also a vial filled with a liquid she was supposed to rub on her body to mask her scent.
No one would be able to track her smell.
This latest note was signed with two initials: A.H. Esmeralda stared at the letters, incredulous. Could it really be him? Was Amir trying to make amends for the past? Amir Hussein—the initials matched, and General Igor must have already told him everything that happened.
Now that he knew the truth, had he taken pity on her?
Or could it be Gama Antero?
He was her only friend, a loyal Gamma and protector. Did he have a last name starting with H?
It wasn't like Esmeralda had much of a choice. Before long, she would die from the agonizing pain once Ares lay with the Beta and marked her.
If she could just get out of the pack's territory, the pain would be manageable, and she would survive.
It was settled. She would risk everything and run tonight. It was better to die trying than to be abused in that cell for the rest of her life.

"Did you do your part?" he asked the moment he stepped into the cabin.
Estela stared at him, searching his eyes for any trace of madness. There it was—the thin crimson ring around his iris. The wolf was in control, hiding in plain sight just as it had done for so long. His human form was becoming rarer by the day, drowning in the madness of his feral nature.
"Of course I did. I don't know why you keep undermining me!"
Black claws had replaced his fingernails, a subtle shift of an impending transformation, but it was merely a display of dominance from the entity speaking through him.
"I’m not undermining you, Estela. I just don’t agree with your rushed, sloppy methods."
"You're complaining, but if it weren't for me, you'd still be sitting around doing the pack's grunt work, settling for the crumbs that fall from Ares's table!"
"If it weren't for you, I would be the Alpha, and Ares would be scraping the mud off my boots!"
"Oh, don't start with that nonsense at this hour of the night!"
"If Hermes hadn't been so obsessed with making you another one of his little whores, he would have killed Ares before his third shift matured. But no, he wanted to bargain with your damn father just to secure a spot between your legs!"
He smiled—a psychotic, feral grin, baring his fangs.
"If Hermes really wanted to, he would have taken me by force instead of playing all those games, tethering my wolf to Ares's."
"Are you forgetting that the Beta was stronger than that Alphaless pack with its lost nature? Hermes was crazy, but he wasn't stupid. The child-devourer drooled every time you were around. He could barely hide his hard-on when he watched you play with the other pups. The 'Beta' knew everything!"
He spat the word "Beta" with pure disgust and loathing.
"My father had Alpha blood in his veins! He only had to serve Hermes as a Beta because he was just a bastard ignored by the previous Alpha."
"'Daddy' was a coward. And yes, a bastard—just like the one growing in your womb right now. A pup born from the perversion of that bitch of a mother."
"He's your pup too!" she snapped, furious.
He grabbed her by the chin, forcing her to look him dead in the eye.
"That is exactly what makes it an abomination, Estela. My seed growing inside you is a goddamn abomination."
She pulled away, flashing a mocking, triumphant smirk.
"Don't speak that way about the future Alpha of the New Moon pack!"
He laughed—a hollow, deranged sound.
"From what you told me, the true-born Luna knows the truth. A clever, attractive female. I can't wait to mount her right on top of Ares's corpse."
"What good does it do her to know anything if Ares won't even hear her name? Lord Zaffir kicked out everyone who tried to visit Ares yesterday after the human was locked up. Word is he slit his own throat and let himself bleed out just to purge the bond from marking her."
"So, he doesn't want her anymore, huh?"
"He can't undo the mark he left on her, but he tried to purify his blood to become a rogue wolf. Lord Zaffir helped him. He can't see anyone until the next full moon in two days. Little does he know the Council will be out in full force, demanding he mark me and make me his Luna!"
