81. Impostor
Grimm looked at Father Clemen as he played with the lighter he was holding. It was open and closed then but it did not light and he waited for it to release a cigarette stick but nothing.
"What is happening to you? Are you in despair like this one?"
He pointed to Victor who was next to him and depressed as he seemed to be deep in thought.
"Yes." Clemen replied annoyed.
From the pocket of his pants he took a box of menthos. He took a piece of candy and tossed it. Grimm could not believe what he saw. Cigarette case was he expected to see as it used to.
"Oh, why are you looking at me like that? Are you bewitched?" Clemen asked to him.
Grimm blinked.
"What happened to your cigarette?" he wondered.
Clemen smirked and frown.
"That old exorcist is a pest. Every time I smoke, my cigarette suddenly explodes in my face. I'm a bit phobic so I just switched to menthos for cool."
Because of what he heard Grimm laughed a little.
"The old man did a great job, he he he!”
"Stop it. Are you on the side of that dictator?"
"It's not like that. But smoking doesn't do anything good to your body. You'll just get sick there and that will gradually kill you."
"Do you think I don't know? I don't care because that's where mortals are going. Well, you just can’t predict when you are going to die. First come, first serve. By the way, why is Victor feeling like that?" Clemen pointed to Victor.
"In despair."
"Why?"
"Love."
"Is that so? Just let it go, it will pass too. By the way, we don't have a job right now so you can go with your friend. Train and strengthen as well. You have many angry enemies in hell." Clemen just said to Grimm.
"All right, we're leaving. We'll deliver more bread today." he said goodbye.
"All right. Just bring me a coconut pie tomorrow."
"Okay."
Grimm approached Victor who was sitting next to him.
"Hoy, we're leaving." he whispered to his friend.
Victor looked up at him.
"Are you done talking?"
"Yes. Didn't you hear the miracle he said?"
"What miracle?"
"That weird priest has switched to candy menthos. He will no longer smoke."
"Ows? True?"
Grimm scratched his head.
"Don't gossip about me there. It looks like I'm not here ah? It would be better if you two left there because you still have work to do, right?"
Grimm hesitated to smile at Victor.
"He's right. So let's go. We still have a lot of bread to deliver in stores."
"All right, let's go." Victor's frugal language.
It stood up and walked. It went with Grimm. Clemen looked at the two as they walked away.
"Who would have thought that those two powerful demons would be on my side? Hmm... Anyway, the demons are also angels. They still came from heaven and were created by the Lord."
He smiled and took the box of menthos out of his pocket again. He took another piece of candy and ate it.
Meanwhile... As usual, the friends met in front of Grimm's bakery. And as usual, before they left to deliver, Grimm's Dad instructed them to avoid any trouble and never to quarrel again. They hastened the delivery so that they would not spend the night on the road. They are already in the last store and busy unloading boxes with pineapple rolls.
Canary got in the car and looked sadly outside. She is on her way home from school. She blinked when she saw the group of young men outside the store with a box of loaves of bread. The young man wearing the long-sleeve under his school uniform grabbed her attention. It turned away from her direction but she already knew who it was.
"Stop it." she suddenly commanded the driver.
"Ma'm?"
Canary is brave because she is not with her older brother Crane. It even took care of something important at school so it was left behind.
"I said, stop."
"But Ma'm..."
"I'm thirsty and hungry. I'll buy it at the store."
The driver stopped the vehicle.
"I'll buy it, Ma'm."
"No, it's me. I don't know what I want to buy yet. I will choose." she spoke emphatically.
Their driver did nothing as she got out of the car and walked to the store. Victor was stopped by the proper landing of a row of boxes when Grimm touched him.
"Why?" he asked.
Grimm pointed his lips and he looked in the direction his friend was pointing. He almost dropped his boxes but he was prompt and chose to be calm. Canary walks closer to where they are. It looked at him and smiled sweetly. When it finally got close to them, it stopped opposite him and the girl faced him. It looked up. Its sweet smile remained on her lips.
"How are you? Thank you for the cupcakes you gave me. They are not only beautiful, they are delicious too. Really, thank you." smiling Canary.
Victor looked intently at the face of the girl who was smiling at him... Then suddenly he remembered the agreement he had made before. He remained silent. He is attacked again by guilt and extreme shame.
"Uy, she’s talking to you. Speak up." Rodel whispered to Victor.
Canary remained smiling at Victor.
"I'm sorry about Kuya Crane. Don’t mind him, he is just paranoid."
Victor frowned.
"Ahm... Who you?"
The smile disappeared from Canary's lips and she was shocked to see Victor. Tears rolled down her eyes slightly because she was crying. She was embarrassed. She pout her lips and give a sharp gaze before she headed to the store.
"Let me buy!"
She just bought anything to prove her alibi. When she bought it, she hurriedly walked back to the car. She smirked at Victor.
"You are shameless, you are a numb. I hate you, Victor you are ugly! Who you? What am I, unregistered number?!" Canary grinned.
Meanwhile... Everyone looked at Victor.
"Why did you do that? You embarrassed her. She's still nice to talk to you. Isn't she the Canary you are referring to? She is the reason why you invited us all to fix the old garden there in the forest?" Salv said one after another.
"That's right. What you did to her is very wrong." second by Ricky.
Victor let out a deep sigh.
"Is she mad at me?" he just retorted.
Rey tapped Victor on the left shoulder.
"Just put your shoes on her situation. You will know the answer." Rey said to his friend.
Grimm approached Victor.
"You know, there is no problem. Your just the one who implicates the problem. She is just making friends with you."
"Grimm is right." Mikee's second.
Victor looked at his companions.
"What will I do?" he asked puzzled.
"Just say a simple sorry, and it will be okay. Also, give her a strong explanation, so that everything will be fine too. There is nothing that cannot be solved by a depth talk."
"Yeah, right. Listen there to Grimm. That's an expert." Salv laughed.
"Not really."
Victor thought deeply and then smiled. He was a little nervous about his plan. He did not know if Canary would accept him and be forgiven when she found out that he was the demon that her Grandfather had fought.
"We're just here, man. We won't leave you so just push that." the language is Mikee.
It raised its right hand and everyone imitated it. They circled and fist bumps as a sign of mutual support.
The next day, Victor was restless at home. Earlier he was walking around the rose garden he made.
"Am I going or not?" that was his repeated question.
He stopped walking and looked at the beautiful roses he had planted.
"That's all, will she go to the garden today?" he talked to himself again.
He looked up at the sky and sigh deeply. Then, he suddenly folded his arms because a very cold wind circled his whole body. A mist surrounded. He looked at the perpetrator then and saw Orphen smiling.
"You're too tense there. You need to refresh." its language is still silly.
Meanwhile... Canary found an opportunity to get out of their house. She secretly went to the old-garden where she often hung out when she was sad. She stopped walking when she saw the opening of the garden. That was fine. Very different than before. She was suddenly excited and ran inside the garden and she was even more impressed by what she saw. Landscape garden and well-pruned roses are there. But what she likes most is the angel sculpture in the middle of the garden and the hut that used to be dilapidated... Now, it is fine and beautiful, it has become two more and there is still a bridge in the middle. She was excited to approach the sculpture. She stared at it intently. She laughs in disgust because it looks like Victor.
"What kind of crystal they used here? The size." she could not control her language.
She approached the sculpture and touched it. She quickly withdrew her hand because she had been scorched by the cold. She looked at the statue in surprise.
"The weird thing is, he's made of ice. But why doesn't he melt?"
She was shaken. Maybe it's just a new here. Maybe Victor did it for her... She is no longer angry with it. She went straight to the hut and did nothing but run to the bridge there. When she got bored, she sat down and leaned against the wall of the hut.
"Will he come here now?"
But, Victor said ‘who you?’ to her yesterday. She let out a deep sigh. She passed for a while but Victor did not come. She stood up.
"I'll just pick cherries." her decided language.
She walked out of the garden. Even though she was not very far away, she already felt the following footsteps.
"Who is that? Victor, is that you?"
She looked around and saw a shadow on the side. She backed away. From that thick part of the forest came a man. Victor.
"It's just you. Don't be intimidating." She said in relief.
A frugal smile appeared on the man's lips.
"Apologies."
"Have you been there before?" she asked.
"I've been watching you for a long time."
"Why didn't you come?"
Victor did not speak but walked slowly towards her. He was wearing a white polo shirt and his hair was neatly ponytailed. Its formal look.
"Are you from an occasion?"
It just looked at her and didn't say a word.
"Why?" she asked.
Earlier it was staring at her deeply. The weird of its behavior. The man continued to face her.
"Come with me."
She frowned.
"Where?"
It grabbed her right hand and held it tightly.
"In a beautiful place."
"Is there a better place than the old-rose garden?"
"There is and you will surely love the beautiful place I say."
"Really? When did you discover that?"
"It's been a long time."
"It's been a long time? I thought you were just new here?"
The man was slightly taken aback by what she said. It was dazzling.
"Is there a problem?"
The man remained staring at her. It did not answer her question. Canary continued to feel doubt. She is not sure if this was really Victor? She could not understand but it was very different from what she knew.
