♡Mia’s pov
I had an inkling it was just a stomach bug. I perhaps had eaten something bad. There was nothing to be concerned about. 1
My thoughts had trapped me inside my head for a long while now as I aimlessly push books into my locker. I wasn’t even sure if I was putting in the right books.
My brain was that muddled.
Sighing heavily I closed the locker.
“Er,” I jolt when Brian’s grinning face beamed at me.
“Sorry did I startle you?” Brian asked, leaning against the locker beside mine, his lips quirking into a smirk.
No I just jolt for no reason.
“Um,” I mumble and took a step back before fixing my own bag on my shoulder.
“No. I just wasn’t expecting you to be…..here.” I admitted.
Brian and I weren’t exactly close but I did try to answer his greetings when our paths crossed which they crossed a lot. He was after all Kade’s friend and Colby had made it his mission to seat beside Kade. This led to us having to seat with Brian and wherever Brian goes, Brianna follows. 1
I still remember the day in the bathroom and can recall those words she said about both Colby and me. I didn’t force to converse with her and neither did Kade. And one day she stopped trying.
Well with me at least.
She was still trying her luck with Kade who hadn’t once given her the attention she desperately sought.
Brian lifts his hand in his hair and scratches his scalp nervously. “We’re friends right?” He suddenly asked which surprised me.
I lift a brow, confused. “Uh, yes. I believe we are.
I mean we do greet each other and Brian has never been mean to me. In fact, he’s been pretty nice to me for a while now. Too nice to give Colby thoughts that he liked me more than a friend. 1
It wouldn’t matter anyway if he liked me or not, because Kade had already stolen that spot.
He nods, a beaming smile on his face that flashed his white teeth. He was definitely in some crest commercial.
“Great, because I think we’re good friends too.” He chuckles lightly but there’s still a tinge of nervousness that made me believe he meant to say more.
So I tried to put the poor guy out of his misery by asking. “Was there anything you wanted to tell me, Brian?” He looked at me silently for a few seconds, his gaze not once moving from my face until I got a little

uncomfortable and shifted on my feet.
How long was he going to keep staring at me without speaking?
When the tip of an excuse to leave was on my tongue, Brian seems to have summoned back his speech.
“Friends go to friends games right?” He rushed out in one breath, his cheeks filling with color.
I stared at him speechlessly, not because I didn’t know how to respond to that but because well, I didn’t understand where he was getting at so I ‘could‘ respond to that.
“There’s a game this Friday. Not sure whether you follow up with things like that or not since you don’t seem like that type of girl-
I raise a brow and he quickly tries to justify himself. “Not that anything is wrong with a girl who doesn’t enjoy sports or normal teenager stuff-
I raise my brow to that as well. Was he implying that I wasn’t a ‘normal‘ teenager because I don’t usually pay attention to what goes in the school?
Brian notices my expression and nervously chuckled. “I’m digging myself into a bigger hole aren’t I?”
I just nod, giving him a smile so he’d not look like someone just fed him worms.
Sighing heavily, Brian spoke again. “Look what I’m trying to say is that I’m playing this Friday against the Wolverines. It will mean a lot to me if you show up to support me. Friends support friends right?”
He looks at me pleadingly, an expression I didn’t quite master to not fall for yet.
Brian and I aren’t exactly close friends and I didn’t see why it would mean a lot to him that I showed up.
“Kade has already agreed to come. You can bring Colby too, Stanly would love for him to show up.” Brian rushes out, seeming to think that if Kade and Colby come along, I’d also tag along with them like their damn tail.
He was probably right because now knowing Kade was going, going to a football game didn’t sound quite bad. Brianna would be there and her icky fingers always wanted to grab Kade. I didn’t trust her to behave.
Not that she knew Kade was taken but given that the guy hasn’t really spared her a glance for over two months now you’d think she got the memo.
I nod. “I’ll think about it.”

Brian’s nervous stare turned to one of excitement. “Really?”
I nod again. “It’s not a definite yes Brian. But I will think about it.”
His smile widened. “It’s better than no, so I’ll take it. See you at lunch?” He asked.
I nodded and watch him leave with a little hop of happiness in his step.
“Humph.” I let out when a body collides with my back, not roughly but enough to have me jerking forward. But arms wrapped around me before I could topple.

“Colby.” I groan, already knowing it was him without having to turn around and look.
“I can never sneak up on you.” He huffs in annoyance, removing his arms around me and walking around me.
I raise a brow when he’s before me, now leaning against my locker. “You call that sneaking up on someone?” I taunt and giggled when he rolled his eyes.
“How was your makeout session with Stanly?” I teased.
Colby rolled his eyes but smiled cheekily. ” How are you so sure we were making out?”
I smirked but soon it turned to a sour grimace.
“You feeling okay Mia? You don’t look too good.” Colby asked, his once amused eyes shade with concern.
“I uh- I think I need to use the bathroom.” I cringe inwardly when my stomach twisted and bile began to rise.
“Ate something bad?” Colby asked, kicking off the locker and staring down at me with unflickering worry.
“Something like that,” I said before turning around. “I’ll catch up with you later Colb,” I grumble behind my shoulder as I quicken my steps and pushed my way through the throng of buzzing teenagers that thought they owned the school.
When I did get to the bathroom, it was thankfully empty. I run to the stall, opened the door quickly, and barely made it in time.
The vomit spewed out like acid as it burned my throat. I wasn’t sure how long I’d been vomiting but it must’ve passed five minutes.
When I felt that I had no more vomit left to push out of my throat, I took a piece of tissue to wipe my mouth, discarded it in the bowl then flushed it.
When I was done, I rise to my feet, my knees ached from being on it for so long. I pause for a little so they’d get used to not being on the floor again. But when I turned around and opened the door, my breath gets stuck in my throat.
Brianna’s eyes fell on mine through the reflection of the mirror.
