Chapter 211: We Can Kill Them All
Logan
“Jessica deserves so much and you two need to realize that. I have to go, I have got a doctor's appointment. Use your brain.” Sophie said and hung up. I stared at the phone.
“How the fuck is she so brave?” I asked.
“She is passionate about the people she loves.” Callan replied.
“You would know if you like her.”
“It seemed unnecessary for her to be in their lives in the beginning.” I said.
“I didn't hate her, I just didn't like what could happen to her and it did happen.” He hummed.
“You think it is inevitable? That anyone who is involved with us is bound to get hurt?”
“I don't fucking know,” I muttered.
“Jessica has been through hell.” I said and then heard footsteps.
“An angel forced in hell.” Callan muttered.
“We will keep her safe, as Sophie said. There is no threat now.”
“Isn't there always a threat in our life?” Lucas asked, he was leaning against the door frame, folding his arms against his chest.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Callan asked.
“I can deal with only one headache at a time.”
“Shut the fuck up.” Lucas said, walking inside.
“I am here to see the woman you announced as your fucking betrothed in the last meeting with the underbosses. This is the height of stupidity.” He said and I leaned back in my seat.
“It was a misunderstanding.” I muttered, he looked at me and then at Callan.
“Does she have a ring on her finger?”
“No,” Callan replied.
“What if someone sees she doesn't have a ring on her finger?”
“We will put a ring on her finger.”
“Does she know you intended to do that?”
“No,” Callan answered and Lucas was silent for a moment.
“You both are idiots.” He said and walked out of the office.
___________
Jessica POV
I brushed my hair away from my neck, gently tracing the edge of my tattoo. It had been days since I got it, the colour was dark against my skin. I sat down on the cushion stool in front of the large mirror in the closet. Half of the dark closet was still covered with Logan’s clothing, the other half held mine including some I had not brought here. I pulled the drawers of the dressing table, brushing my fingers on the multiple lipstick, almost all of them were different shades of red. I lifted my eyes again, looking at myself through the mirror. I was wearing a black dress, loose around my bust and tight round my wasit and then freely brushing on my legs. My hair was down in loose curls, my makeup all done minus the lipstick. Then my phone ring and it was my sister Nova.
“Hey, Nova.” I said and I picked up the call and I could hear a piano playing in the background.
“I just talked to Sophie.” she told me.
“You talk to her phone now?” I said and I could imagine her rolling her eyes.
“She is…nice.” she added
“The horror.” I whispered.
“Shut up. You are coming here for the festival!” She asked and I hummed.
“I know, Logan just told me.”
They were acting weird. Logan had knocked on my door, said we were living in Dubai for a week and then walked away with a kiss.
“Zoe will be here, Sophie said we could invite more family.”
“Just invite Zoe’s family, that is enough.”
“Fifteen more people then, Adriano is going to be happy to cook.”
“Ah, you talked to Adriano now?”
“He cooks well.” I hummed at her response.
“You are getting more comfortable, it seems.”
“Well..” she said.
“It is nice, our sister seems to love it so much that even Monica seems happy.” She replied and looked down at my hands.
“That is good.”
“Do you know what is happening with our father?” She asked.
“I have no idea.” I replied.
“They have him, I don't have the courage to ask about him.”
“But the others are dead.”
It was the headline of the year, bodies were found by their family members. The whole world knew who had killed them yet no one raised a finger. There was no news of my father, other than he was missing.
“Yes,”I agreed as I put on my red lipstick.
“They are dead.”
____________
Callan POV
“This is messy.” I threw my knife at Troye.
“No shit.” He dogged, frowning slightly.
“That was rude.” He said. He sat on the edge of Logan's desk and I was on the couch. Logan was on his chair, not speaking.
“I thought you were going to give her a choice.” He said.
“How is she being your financee going to help with that?” He asked. I closed my eyes, hands twitching for my knife.
“We have to follow some rules,” Logan muttered.
“Some accident fucking rules, a woman doesn't belong to a man till she is his wife if she is promised to him.” Logan added.
“We didn't say she is our fiancee, we said she was ours. They fucking presumed.” Troye let out a laugh at my words.
“Oh my fucking goodness.” He ran a hand over his face.
“And you didn't correct them?”
“He didn't,” Logan nodded towards me and I grinned.
“I left early.” I rubbed my bottom lips.
“Financee does have a nice ring to it, does it not? My wife has a better ring.”
Logan watched me.
“I am second away from smashing something on your face which knocks you out for days or puts you in a coma.” Logan said and Troye looked at him.
“Tell her that it is important for her safety.” Troye said.
“Safety for what?” Logan asked.
“From that boy? He can't do shit now, if the engagement breaks, that will cause a ton of problems. Our foundation is strong, Troye but too many Santoros are there. Too many who can challenge us.”
My fingers twitched, I stood up and picked my knife up from where it had fallen.
“We can kill them all.” I said and Logan looked at me.
Lucas, who had been silent this whole time, looked at me as well.
“Are you fucking serious?” He asked and I shrugged.
“I am not forcing her into an engagement, I want her to love me, not loath me so…” my knife twisted in my hands.
“Let's kill them all. We have six uncles, they probably have ten sons. We can kill all of them.”
They all watched me. Lucas and Logan exchanged a glance and nodded. Troye shrugged.
“I am so grateful I am not a Santoros, you fucking are crazy.
I smiled, I was a lot crazier than Jessica believed.
“Hello, uncle. I said and sighed, sitting down.
Their eyes were sceptical, we were in Lucas's penthouse for dinner. Final supper, Troye had called it. One of our uncles put his elbow on the table.
“Where is your woman, Callan? She should be here to greet us. To serve us food, at least.”
Logan's eyes flashed but he smiled.
“She is a little sick, uncle. She will be okay soon.”
