Chapter 16 : I Want To Go Home
Chapter 16: I Want To Go Home
Angelo
I came to pick up Sophie, Adriano and Luciano were busy trying to make Santoros understand why the party had to be bloodless. It was a mafia party, at one of our five I uncle's houses. We would not have gone if Sophie had said no. But she didn't, it didn't feel real. She wanted to go.
I got out of my car, looking at the awful apartment building she lived in. Her apartment was good but this area was not. I walked inside and climbed the staircase, as the elevator was occupied till I stepped on the fifth floor. I knocked on her door twice.
“Sophie?” I called, I heard the click of heels and then the door opened, I looked at her face. She appeared nervous and a little excited and she had done a little makeup.
“You look stunning.” I kissed her cheek, wanting to kiss her lips and her whole body.
And that was when my eyes fell upon her body covered in the dress Adriano had chosen for her. It was tight on her hips and breasts, and loose along her legs, the slit showing her almost full right leg. She barely reached my chest even in heels. I looked back into her eyes, knowing she had caught me staring at her body. She was blushing, nibbling in her lip.
“Sophie…”
How was I supposed to have control when she looks like that? Having her as a friend in our life was good, I did not want to fuck it up. Luciano and Adriano were doing plenty of fúck ups already, one taste of what we wanted to do to her and she would run for the hills. She thanked me, her cheeks flashing again as her eyes moved over me. I was wearing a black tuxedo and I saw her press her thighs together. Dirty little girl.
“Grab what you want.” I said to her, she nodded and walked back into her little room.
I leaned against the door frame, looking around her room. It was small, too small. How could she live here? She had decorated it well and I could recognize some of the books on her shelf. That stack of books beside it irritated the hell out of me. She grabbed her phone and a small clutch bag. She turned off her lights and I moved away from the door frame, enabling her to lock her door. Soon enough, we were settled in my car with her playing with her hands and me spacing through the traffic.
“Where are Adriano and Luciano?” She asked.
“We will meet them there.” I replied.
“Oh,”
She seemed awkward, she kept sneaking glances at me.
“Angelo…”
“Yes, princess?”
“Are these real?” She pointed to the neck of her dress which was glittering with whatever it was on it.
“Probably,” I shrugged.
“Jewellery?”
“Yes,” I replied, I chose that one. She stayed silent again.
I turned my attention back on the road, speeding through the traffic. We don't want to get there late or else, my two brothers will eat me raw.
___________
Sophie POV.
According to my calculations, I was wearing thousands on my body. Angelo helped me out of the car, throwing the key at the valet. He wrapped an arm around my waist and led me to the entrance of the large mansion which was colored with Ivies running up the walls.
“This is beautiful.” I whispered, trying not to think about his arm around me that felt too warm. He hummed.
“Our is better.” he mumbled.
What? They had a mansion? Of course they should.
“Can I see it?” I asked before I could stop myself. He looked down at me just as we entered the large hall and smiled.
“Of course, princess. Anything for you.” He pressed his lips on my forehead and just then I felt eyes on us.
I looked around, the mansion was sparkling with a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling and everything was decorated with white and red. Waiters and waitresses walked around in uniform with drinks, some women were huddled together and men were talking amongst themselves with some women by their side. He led me through the crowd, I noticed things. Women who were in the presence of men were not talking much, almost all of the men had visible scars and tattoos. There was nearly no laughter in the room, something you would not expect at a part held on Christmas Eve. There was not even a tree here, I had expected to see one.
They were all looking at us, all of them. I felt them accusing me. My body and the arm which was protectively wrapped around my waist. I looked up at Angelo, his face was neutral, eyes hardened and no hint of the smile he had given me. He led me to a corridor.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“To meet Adriano and Luciano and a few friends of ours.” He replied and now, where no one could see him, he gave me another one of his dazzling smiles.
“Who?” I asked as we stopped in front of a brown double door.
“Santoros'.”
He pushed the door open and my eyes fell upon the five men inside the room. I froze, I knew I was frozen, maybe I was shaking too.
“Kitten?” Adriano called, walking closer to me and growing. I took a step back, Angelo looked down at me, Luciano walked closer too.
“Princess?” Luciano called as he took my hand, trying to pull me gently. I ripped my hand out of his, taking another step back.
They were friends with the Santoros'? There was no doubt in the Rizzo's being with the mafia but there was no doubt in the Santoros' owing the Shadow Syndicate.
“I want to go home.” I murmured, wrapping my hands around myself and feeling myself tremble.
“Sophie,” Adriano gripped my waist.
“You are shaking, darling.” He tried to pull me to his chest and I struggled in his arms.
“Let me go,” I tried to get out of his arms, he cursed repeatedly under his breath.
“Guys,” he muttered.
“Okay, we were going.” I heard an unfamiliar voice said and then people began leaving the room. The door slammed shut and then Adriano picked me up.
I sniffed, looking up at him as he sat down on the couch with me on his lap. He tucked me to his chest, rubbing my back and I hiccuped.
“Kitten,” he tucked me closer to his chest.
They were friends with them? They were friends with the Santoros'?
“Y..you know who they are?” I whispered, looking at Angelo who was sitting beside us. He looked troubled.
“Yes,”
“T..then why are you friends with them?” I looked at Luciano, he was standing close by.
They didn't say anything.
