Chapter 50 Chapter 50
Chapter 50 Chapter 50
Caspian POV
The week had been a long one. But today was the icing on the cake. Closing the deal with Johnson's account put me in such a good mood, I didn't even have to think about the long stressful week.
If only the shares…
Stopping, I realized that one major push for Johnson's account had been from Davis Trent. Although he hadn't been personally involved, he had sent an associate–Derek Alan.
Also, the past few weeks had been filled with news headlines of his latest dealings.
Smiling, I knew it was a matter of time before he became the wealthiest In all of this metropolis. But for now, he was still contending with the Parks. But to ensure we were at par, I made the decision to collaborate with him. Just that one call had made things a lot easier.
If only the man hadn't been to prison. That was the only dent to his name at the moment, and the only thing that I knew was to our benefit.
The board meeting was adjourned, and I couldn't be any happier, even if the decision had come from me.
“So, we'll be sending some representatives to the Park's head office to keep track of the contract until it's over.” Derek Alan mused, as he started to gather his materials into his briefs.
“Ah. Yes. Also, I would love a meeting with Davis Trent, personally. I need to be certain, uh… You know–”
“Don't worry about that. It's covered.” Alan butted in.
“And his son? He won't pose any problems for us in the future, I believe?” I inquired with a sketchy smile.
“You have nothing to worry about, Mr Park.”
Ahead of every other board member, I arose to see the poor man, who was bearing the burden of his boss--Davis Trent, off.
“Mr Park, there's a phone call for you from our Sussex office.” Tacha said, as she tried to meet up with my strides in her long beautiful legs cladded in stilettos.
Smiling ruefully, I nodded.
Tacha seemed to be making efforts to get my attention, and did she?
She was wearing a creamy pleated dress only reaching to her thighs. Her hair was piled in such a way that it raises her cheekbones making it my defined, as it accentuates the plumpy curve of her lower lips.
But then, she turned to leave, and I froze.
Quickly, I shed my jacket and made quick strides towards her, placing the jacket around her shoulders. It quickly concealed the bright crimson blotch on her dress before anyone realized it.
“You visitor's here.” I whispered in her ears and she flushed darkly while I continued to my office with a smile planted on my face.
“The gossip would be mad, today.” Grey observed.
“What gossip?” I inquired, as I prepared for my call meeting.
“How you dote on your secretary.” He voiced, his eyes bemused.
“Except that she's tarnished. If not, it's a worthy course to pursue.” I rasped.
“You prefer virgins now?” Grey inquired, astounded.
“Don't be ridiculous.” I drawled, sparing him an obnoxious look.
“Then what– Ah… I see. Is she perhaps some dirty looking bitch?” He asked wryly.
Smiling, I settled deeper in my seat. If anyone knew me better, it was Grey.
“She had blood on herself.” I said.
Horrified, Grey sat up. “Is she alright, then?”
My gaze darkened impatiently, as I fixed Grey with a glare that made him look as ridiculous as he sounded.
“Oh. That blood.” He mused.
“But isn't today the first. Since she started working here months ago, she's been pert and all glammed up. That's hardly enough reason to…”
“It shows how little attention she pays to herself and her hygiene.” I voiced.
“Now, enough of my secretary.” I said, closing the subject.
For some minutes, I was on call with the manager heading the office at Sussex on their recent sell out, and their latest dealings with an investor who's unwilling to reveal his identity at the moment.
“We'll be sending our representatives from here to London next week, sir.” Mr Donovan said.
“Alright then. Have them report to me directly when they arrive.”
With that, the call clicked off.
“Seems they really are doing well.” Grey observed.
“Yeah.” I said dryly.
“Elara really made a huge impact on the Sussex annex. It's a pity she's no longer here to oversee the affairs of one of our biggest productive companies.” Grey said.
“So far, they still are keeping to their earliest records. But I have a problem with the manager's high-handedness.” I growled.
“But you're still the most feared in the industry.” Grey differed.
“Except for you.” I snarled, rising from my seat and tossing my mobiles at him. He swiftly caught it, and followed stealthily behind me.
“For a bodyguard, you're ridiculously nosy.” I said.
Releasing a dried laugh, he answered chirpily. “Well, I was doing absolutely fine in the army until someone sought me out. Bear with my deficiencies, will ya?”
We continued to my private parking lot where Grey went ahead to open the door for me to slide into.
“Head to my club.” I ordered gruffly.
“Ain't you supposed to be having dinner with Aunt Kathy and Uncle Bill?” He asked.
“Shut up, man, and just drive.” I hissed, my once jolly mood now turned sour.
“Yes, boss.” Grey responded and proceeded per my signals.
Pondering aloud, I murmured, “Who could the anonymous investor for the Sussex office be?”
Eyeing me airily from the rearview mirror, Grey said, “And you don't think it's your brother-in-law's father?”
With a groan, I barked. “The mere mention of that toad irks me.”
Last week, the fool had the effrontery to visit my office.
I wondered how Elara got acquainted with such a nilly billy of a husband.
“If not for Davis Trent, his head might have been snipped off that day.” I blurted.
“Aw. C'mon now dude. You still have to pretend you don't know about Elara's affairs for the past three years that she left, you know.” Grey reminded me, and I could only seethe in anger.
