CHAPTER 14. Back in the walls

What mission are you talking about?, Get burned by what?" Kitara asked, her curiosity piqued she knew this captain will be of good help to her mission as he probably knows almost everything about the empire. A king will never keep a secret from a man that protects him, "am just saying that what ever reason why you are here be careful this walls have hold too much of deaths" Jonas said.

"Deaths, what do you mean?" Kitara said, Jonas scanned her for any look of being afraid but there was none evident on her instead it looks like she wants to go against the death and beat it to pulp. "Forget I said that" Jonas said.

"Okay, you are the captain of all the royal troop?" Kitara asked. No am just the captain of the guards for the surveillance, you see we are grouped into different sectors as a guard. We have the surveillance sector, the bodyguard sector, the standing sector which are mostly used to decorating the halls and then the royal troops. Most of us all are in the royal troops but before you can get there you must be skillful. They are the one that goes against external force" Jonas explained to her.

"What of internal force" Kitara asked. Well, within the palace that is why we have the surveillance sector and small fraction of the royal troops. Outside the palace in the empire they have their protectors" Jonas said.

"Ok good" Kitara said.

"It looks like you are new here for you not to know all this, when do you get here?" Jonas asked.

"Few weeks ago" Kitara replied with an enchanting smile.

"That is good, and you are already getting attention to yourself" Jonas replied, Kitara just smiled at him.

"Gaining attention is good, but don't gain that which you can not control" Jonas said.

"What do you mean again?" Kitara asked him if he was trying to build a fear in her, he surely was on his way to.

"Enough talking by me, maybe it time for you to start talking" Jonas said his voice now convey that of leadership, command and sounds like that of a man in charge.

"Okay what do you want to know about me" Kitara asked . Jonas walks to the body of his man and checked for their pulse, "I only beat them and made them pass out. I didn't kill them, they will wake up in few hours time" Kitara said.

"I can see that, tell me about your background" Jonas said as he starts to drag one of his men on the ground to a corner. "Well am a slave from start, so I don't really know my first family. I guess they are slaves too" Kitara said.

"Am sorry to hear that" Jonas said even though his voice said the opposite.

"You don't sound like, why are you dragging them to this edge?" Kitara asked him.

Well they are my men, I have to punish them myself first before I render their case before his highness. They will be seen if I left them in the ground like that, here is much more secure." Jonas Said.

"Ok, sounds clever" Kitara said.

Ok, so how do you learn all this combat skills, I also heard that you are good at archery" Jonas said.

Well, I once was a slave to a warrior he died in battle and we all have to run for our life as I went in war with him. That his how I met this slave masters and they enslaved me again and brought me here. I escaped from them and lay low for some time. It was after this that i saw the opening for the post of servant in the palace and I decided to apply."

At least, I have a good place to sleep and wake up.i even eat good free food here". Kitara said as she brims with happiness. Jonad heart ached, how could he have accused a poor girl of being a spy when she is just trying to make a living.

"Am sorry to hear that" Jonas said.

"It okay, am used to the way of life" Kitara said.

"Am sorry you have to go through all of that and in the bed I still accuse you to be a spy" Jonas said.

"I understand the fact that you are just doing your job" Kitara said, she knew she has hit a soft spot in the heart of the captain and wasted no time to make use of it.she bursted into tears and covered her face up with her hands.

Jonas heart melt, he didn't know when he advanced to her and enveloped her with his hug, whenever you need anything or even someone to talk to. Let me know, am always at this location just ask for me and my men will bring you to me" He said.

"Ok thanks, Sire Jonas am so grate for for your help and for taking your time to chat with me. I really appreciate it" Kitara said as she moves away from his tight hug and cleaned her face with the back of her hand.

"It okay" Jonas said.

"Thanks, I should be on my way now. But am kinda lost that is why your men tried to take advantage of me. Is it okay with you if you show me the way?" Kitara asked with a cute face.

Yeah sure, that cute face of yours is something else. Don't use it on another person again" Jonas said with a wide smile on his face.

Kitara smiled and they proceeded on their way to the palace, they finally got to the palace surroundings. "Thanks, I know my way from here sire. You can go back to your duty post" Kitara said.

"Ok sure and don't forget to come for me whenever you need me" Jonas said as he starts to walk away. "I promise I will" Kitara replied.
