Chapter 36 Resolved
Chapter 36 Resolved
Auren
My face is clammy with sweat by the time I get to the small clearing Lucien is curled at. He seems a little peaceful now, his tail wagging gently.
I stoop to hold my knees, panting with short, quick breaths.
His speed is just out of this world.
I stumble forward, but my knees give out, and I fall on them to the ground.
"You've made me run probably a thousand miles today. You should just cut this thing out, and let the girl out."
He snaps up from his resting position, shooting me a glare. He growls at me, then rests back.
"You're getting cocky, I see. Wow," I scoff, rising to my feet, "So you decided to turn rebellious after leaving my body? Great."
"Just wait till I get you back," I mutter breathlessly.
Lucien throws his head back suddenly, giving me a ride startle. My skin jumps with a thousand jolts rippling through me.
"Please stop this game, and just shift back," I groan, "Asha is not built to withstand you, why can't you understand that?" I stamp my feet, wishing I could slice him open and just take her out of him.
He springs up from his resting position, plopping his big ass butt on the ground.
"I know you're in heat, buddy, but there's nothing we can do about it," I take careful steps towards him, "I promise, I'd find a way and get you back into my body, then we can satisfy all your needs, okay?"
He gives a warning huff of air, a sound signaling rejection.
My jaw drops at the outright rejection, "You don't want to come back to me? Fine then, have fun," I grind my teeth, my eyes seeing red.
This ungrateful mountain fucker. I spin on my heels stomping away.
"How about you handle the flu seasons on your own? You'd probably make a good doctor for yourself. Besides, keep being stubborn, when your heat comes, you'd face it alone," I fire at him.
My words must have probably pierced through that coconut head of his, because he whines loudly, trotting to catch up with me.
"No, you should go stay by yourself," I snarl at him, increasing my pace— not that it's a match against his, but whatever.
"Oh right," I look over my shoulder, "Let go of the girl too. It better be soon. You can't claim to love her, and you're putting her in pain."
He cowers, stars appearing in his now widened adorable puppy eyes. His ears droop also.
What a big baby of fur.
I press my lips together, still trying to stay mad.
"Alright, alright fine, I won't leave you when those times come around, but on one condition."
His ears perk back up.
"You should stop stressing the girl and let her go," I say firmly.
He gives me a throaty whine of protest.
"Why don't you want to let her go? Goodness knows what's happening to her inside of you— wait, is it because you want to feel her?" I arch my brows, facing him properly.
He gives a nod.
"Ahh..." I fold my arms across my chest, "What a horny little dog."
He huffs again at me, and I chuckle.
"As much as I know this isn't the right way of approach, I kinda understand you, bud," I reach out and rub his nose.
"Please shift back? Let her out."
He takes a step back, drops back to a curled up position, and the shift begins.
Bones crack and realign with sharp, rough sounds. His fur ripples and starts receding into skin. His form shrinks, limbs reshaping, spine arching as the wolf body collapses inward. A muffled groan escapes him as the final waves of the change roll through.
When it's over, Asha lies there naked, her knees curled up to reach her chest. She seems to be knocked out, but her breathing is just fine.
I waste no time taking off my jacket, and wrapping it around her.
"Asha? Can you hear me?" I prop her back up with my hand, then let her rest on my arm.
"She wasn't able to bear being in his body for so long," I exhale, "Stupid Lucien. He just never listens to me."
I place another hand under her knees, propping her up, and carrying her bridal style.
"Let's go home, shall we?"
I droop my shoulders in relief, but a part of me boils. Now, everything has been resolved, but it just had to go through the hard way. Almost ten of my men are dead because Lucien couldn't control being a horny bastard.
I'm so going to teach him a lesson soon.
At that moment, I hear a muffled sound. I look down at Asha's face. She flickers her eyes, her lips slightly parting.
I instinctively lick my lips at the sight.
"Asha?" I call again.
This time, her eyes open in narrow slits, "Huh?"
"You're okay. Thank the heavens. I thought this was going to end badly. Good thing it didn't, now let's go home."
I begin walking back in the direction from where I came.
"Auren?" Her drowsy voice draws my attention.
"Hm?"
"What happened? I don't feel good."
I exhale softly, "I'll explain when you're feeling better. Currently, I shouldn't stress your pretty head with long talk."
She props herself properly on my arms, her face leveling with mine.
"Wow," she drawls, "Your lips are so pretty," she traces the curve of my upper lip.
"Thank you," I reply curtly.
"I want to suck on them," she grins, her face flushing crimson.
"Lucien didn't transfer some of his heat to you, did he? That seems like something he'd do."
She just shrugs her shoulders, and loops her arms around my neck, "I want to suck on them."
"We're in the middle of nowhere, and that's all you can think of?" I frown at her.
She bats her lashes at me in response.
My thoughts run back to the kiss we had earlier. Maybe she's in heat?
The thought of that makes my heart race wildly. Oh, the things I would do to her.
Again, I can't.
"Let's get you home first. You need a lot of rest."
"Do I get to suck on them when we're home?" Her eyes light up with stars.
"No."
"Please?" Her lips turn downwards as she tries using the puppy eyes charm on me.
Lucien has taught her bad things now.
"No," I shake my head.
She keeps pestering me, and my patience is wearing thin by the second.
"If you don't agree, I'll force myself on you," she huffs, looking away, and crossing her arms.
What the—
"That's what I'll do," the tension in her shoulders eases. She leans against mine with a satisfi
ed smirk.
What do I do with this lady now?
