Chapter 35 That time of the month

Chapter 35 That time of the month
Auren
I run as fast as I can towards the Red River. Every limb in my body trembles with anxiety and fear. Oh gosh, Lucien is a Lycan wolf; there's no way Asha would be able to subdue him.
I stifle back a curse, increasing my pace. I have to get there as soon as possible, before he does something she can't undo.
I look ahead to see torn ropes, and fettered chains.
"What the—" I reach the spot where there are torn ropes and fettered chains scattered all over the place.
I whip my head to my right, and there lies one of my men, lying there in his pool of blood.
"Fuck!" I hit my forehead in frustration, "How did I even forget about Lucien's awkward shifts?"
I rush to his side to check if he's still breathing, but no, he's already gone.
My heart sinks further into my stomach. If things get out of hand, he might kill all of my men before I can even do anything.
I groan out loud, feeling helpless. I can neither shift nor use any of my magic, and heck, I forgot that enchanted necklace at home!
I look back at the dead man, hiss, and rise to my feet, "I will come back for you, but right now, let's go subdue Lucien."
I take to my heels again, this time taking a shortcut. The faster I get there, the better.

My heart drops when I get to the Red River. I can count at least five of my men on the ground. I pause in horror as I slowly inspect their bloodied bodies.
"What did he do to them?" I gnash my teeth, whipping my head around to look for him.
There's no sign of him around, but I can see his huge paw prints leading in another direction.
I follow the prints until I get to a lake not so far away from the river. There he is, sitting, with his back turned to me.
Thinking of that.. I have never seen him before since I don't exactly know what he looks like when he shifts out.
He stands about seven feet tall. His black fur gleams under the half moonlight. It's weirdly smooth looking, almost too shiny for a black fur. He is huge. He's fucking monstrous.
I rush to him, my heart pounding wildly. Forget about him. Where the fuck is Asha?
I rush to his side, scouring his arms for any sign of Asha.
   She isn't there.
I don't know if my eyes were playing with me, but I'm sure we saw her slowly shifting.
I look at the monster sitting beside me. How the fuck did he shift with her as his host?
My face goes red with rage. I stomp over to his front, my legs almost giving way.
"What the fuck, Lucien? You let go of Asha right this minute! She's not your host!" I yell at the colossal mountain of fur.
He drops his eyes in my direction. Sapphire blue eyes seep into my soul, sending scalding shivers down my spine.
He makes a low rumbling sound, then raises his eyes back again.
"This isn't funny! You've killed almost ten of my men, and now this? You're ignoring me? You fuckin—"
He makes a move, rising on a hind leg.
I immediately take some steps back, bracing myself for the worst. Great, maybe my wolf will kill me too.
He rises on another hind leg, his massive frame expanding into space.
He growls softly, then begins to sniff around for whatever reason best known to him.
"What's your problem? Let the girl go," I smack my forehead with barely constrained rage.
Lucien is a hell of a wolf. He's the real Lycan, so of course he won't listen to me. He always does whatever he feels is best for him, and just takes my advice for fun.
He growls again, his sapphire blue eyes igniting with a softer hue of blue. He bares his fangs at me his mountain of a body almost throws itself at me but barely holds itself back.
My heart leaps into my mouth, hammering wildly.
That's when I notice the steam rising out of his fur. I take a step closer, thinking it might be my eyes playing tricks on me, but hell no, there's steam coming out of his fur.
The smell of plum and cedarwood wraps around me like a warm hug, soothing my senses for a split second before I immediately snap out of it.
To add to that, he's suddenly panting, sniffing around for something, then whines deep in his throat.
Realization hits me faster than lightning. Lucien is in heat.
"Fuck it!" I clasp my hand, gritting my teeth at the thought, "it is that time of the month. I had already forgotten," I suck my lower lip in.
I take a few steps away from him, pacing back and forth in a vertical line.
"Why are you reacting that way? You know you don't have a mate, and I'm not going to shove my dick in some random woman's pussy," I click my tongue in irritation before another realization hits me.
He's no longer in my body— at least for the time being.
I just hold my throbbing head, fearing it would explode more from the endless frustration that has been banging in it.
"What are we supposed to do now?" I exhale softly, "Your host is different. There's nothing we can do about it," I shrug my shoulders, "Speaking about host: you've got to shift back; you're putting Asha in pain."
He whines, snapping back to his instant position. The blue hue in his eyes grows brighter, until its almost overshadows the sapphire blue irises.
"Please, just shift back. Who knows how she's even far—"
He lets out a powerful howl that shakes the ground beneath me.
Oh crap.
He drops to all fours, his forelegs digging restlessly into the ground. He keeps growling, then panting heavily in between them. The steam emitting from his fur grows blurrier, creating a mist around him.
Before I can say anything else, he charges at me. My heart leaps out of my body through my mouth. I can neither react nor make a move because everything's happening so fast.
He races towards me in two, three, four, and jumps over me, almost knocking me to the side in the process.
I stagger forward, my skin crawling wildly from the shock aftermath.
"Come back, you dick head!" I take to my heels after him.
