Chapter 62 Chapter 61
Alpha King Kieran.
I had caught glimpses of her in the course of the festival, watching her as she loosed herself in the festivities, looking brighter than usual. Her laughter echoed in my ears, and her smile seemed to light up the entire arena. My wolf had been held spellbound by her and fueled by the secret meetings that was still unknown to her, he had missed her terribly. I watched her from a distance with a longing in my heart that I refused to acknowledge.
Feeling that familiar stab of pain that seemed to wreck havoc to my insides, I rubbed my chest, grimacing slightly as I pushed it aside. I would not let a disturbance like that ruin this night.
At long last, it was time for the prophecy. The atmosphere shifted and the air grew heavy with anticipation, a hush falling over the crowd. The time had come for the prophecy to be unveiled. The priestess, adorned in a flowing white gown, ascended the stage, her presence commanding the attention of all.
She performed the necessary rituals, invoking the power of the Moon Goddess. The energy in the arena crackled with an otherworldly force, and I could feel the weight of destiny hanging in the air. The priestess's voice resonated through the silence, her words carrying the weight of centuries of tradition.
Catching a piece of moonlight into a transparent orb, she infused it with her divine powers and blinding light flooded the perimeter of the arena before it slowly died out, revealing a brilliant purple glow that was embedded in the orb she held in her hands. Studying it for a while, she muttered some things to herself before turning her attention to the audience before her.
"The Moon Goddess speaks, Hear ye, Hear ye!" she began, her voice carrying a sense of reverence. "These are the words of the Moon Goddess and this is what she has to say." She added and a cold silence descended in the arena, everyone listening with rapt attention. Twirling around with the orb in her hands, she turned to me, her gaze pinned on me as she stared into my soul. "This prophecy is directed to none other than Alpha King Kieran." She announced, her voice resounding in the entire arena.
Shocked gasps filled the entire arena and I sat straighter, My brows furrowed, my heart pounding in my chest. What does the Moon goddess want to say to me?
"Alpha King Kieran, chosen leader of the werewolves, hear her words." She began, her voice dropping a few notes. My heart skipped a beat as the priestess's gaze met mine. I held my breath, my eyes locked on her, waiting for the prophecy that would shape the course of my life.
"Let it be known that, Evelyn Nightshade," the priestess continued, her voice filled with a mix of awe and certainty, "the princess whom you have made your slave, is your second chance mate."
The words hung in the air, echoing through the arena. Gasps and murmurs rippled through the crowd, but all I could hear was the pounding of my own heart. Evelyn, the woman I had tried to subdue, the woman who had captured my thoughts and stirred emotions I thought were long buried, was destined to be by my side!
What the hell!?
Amaris.
I was busy enjoying the festivities that was going on in the arena when a strong arm grabbed me from it, pulling me away from the gathering, leading me to the hallways of the palace. I gasped in surprise, my wide eyes flying up to meet Ethan's back and an excited feeling bubbled up from inside me.
A smile hit my lips, my heart skipping a beat. "Hey there!" I muttered whene we finally found a quiet spot, away from all the bustling of the arena. He glanced down at me, a genial smile spreading accross his lips.
"I managed to sneak out of my post so I could come here. I didn't want tonight to pass without seeing you." He rushed out quickly, his huge arms settling in my waist as he pulled me closer to himself. A chuckle escaped my lips as I placed my hands on his chest, drinking in the sight of him, my heart racing with happiness. "How have you been?" He asked, running a hand through my hair.
"Well, I've been hanging in there, missing you." I said, adding the last bit quietly. His gaze raked all over me appreciatively before settling on my face and a corner of his lips quirked up in a smile.
"You look absolutely divine." He muttered, his voice dropping a few octaves. "More ethereal than the Moon goddess festival herself." He whispered, kissing my forehead.
"Enough with the flatter." I whispered, grinning. "Why are you here?" I asked.
"I should be asking you that. Didn't you have something you to say to me?" He muttered and I nodded. "Your answer. Have you thought about it yet?" He asked.
I pulled away from him, nervously rubbing my arms. I have thought about it and..." I held my words a bit, watching the anticipation in his eyes before finishing with my sentence. "Yes, I would like to be your mate, if you will accept me." I whispered, my voice barely audible.
He fell silent for a while, before gently holding my hands and pressing it against his chest. "And, I accept you Amaris Silvermoon, to be my mate." He replied, his voice as solemn as he could.
His words echoed in my mind, resonating with the emotions swirling within me. I looked into his eyes, seeing the sincerity and longing reflected back at me. In that moment, I knew that I felt the same way.
Without a word, I stepped closer to him, feeling the warmth of his body radiating against mine. Our hands found each other, fingers intertwining as if they were made to fit perfectly together. It was as if the universe had aligned, bringing us together in this moment of undeniable connection. The mate bond had returned once more and even if I couldn't hear his thoughts because I did not have a wolf, I could feel his emotions and I realized that he was just as happy as I am.
Our eyes locked, and time seemed to stand still. In his gaze, I saw a future filled with love, trust, and unwavering support. I felt the bond between us growing stronger, weaving its way through our souls and sealing our fate. He picked me up, twirling me around as he hugged me and my cries of laughter filled the hallways, tears filling up my eyes and spilling out of it.
