Chapter 61 Chapter 60
Amaris.
Before I could delve deeper into my thoughts, Evelyn changed the topic, suggesting that we grab some food from the buffet. The tantalizing aroma of roasted meats and freshly baked bread filled the air, and my stomach rumbled in response. We made our way towards the long table, piling our plates with an assortment of delectable treats.
As we sat down at a nearby table, the lively music and laughter surrounding us, I couldn't help but be swept away by the joyous atmosphere. The first night of the festival was a resounding success, and I reveled in the company of friends and the enchanting ambiance.
However, as the night wore on, I couldn't shake the feeling of longing for Duke Ethan's presence. I had missed him throughout the evening, and the thought of seeing him again filled me with anticipation. But for now, I pushed those thoughts aside, allowing myself to be fully present in the festivities.
The night passed in a blur of laughter, dancing, and shared moments of happiness. As the dawn began to appear on the sky, signaling the end of the first night of the festival, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over me. The Moon Goddess festival had begun with a flourish, and I prayed that the coming nights held even greater wonders.
I bid farewell to Evelyn, making my way to the palace grounds, feeling a sense of excitement building within me. The next night, the prophecy night, held a special significance in the festival. It was the most important night of all the festivities, where the moon goddess gave prophecies through her priestess. It was a night of revelations and mysteries, and I couldn't wait to see what it had in store.
Though people still lounged around, I had to resume my duties, ensuring that the palace grounds were clean and welcoming for the next night's festivities. While I worked, a familiar figure caught my eye. Duke Ethan dismounted from his horse, his presence commanding attention. My heart skipped a beat as he approached me, a warm smile on his lips.
Grinning softly, I walked up to him. He placed a kiss on my forehead, holding my cheeks tenderly. "I didn't see you at all last night, what happened? Are you alright?" I asked, my voice filled with worry.
"Forgive me for not being able to join you during the first night of the festival," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I was caught up with my duties, but I couldn't bear to miss another moment with you."
A surge of joy filled my chest, and I couldn't help but return his smile. "I missed you too, Ethan. But I'm glad you're here now."
"Sadly, I can't stay for long either. Though to the huge amount of people coming into the kingdom,
"I've been fortifying security measures in every border, " Ethan mentioned, his voice tinged with a hint of concern. "With so many visitors for the Moon Goddess festival, we want to ensure everyone's safety."
"Oh..." I trailed off, lost for words.
"What about you? Did you enjoy yourself during the festival?" He asked as I nodded.
"Yes, but you weren't there. And I didn't like that." I admitted and he grinned, looking terribly handsome.
"I'm sorry about that. I'll try to make out time to see you tonight." He said and I looked up at him, searching his eyes.
"Really?" I asked, my voice hopeful.
"Yes." He affirmed, gazing at me with a tender look on his eyes.
"I'm really glad. I can't wait to give you my reply." I muttered and he pressed a kiss to my lips.
"And I can't wait to hear it." He whispered against it before pulling away to kiss my forehead. "I have to go now. I'll see you tonight. Stay safe." He added before walking back to his horse and mounting. With one powerful rein into the air, he galloped put of the castle, flanked by his soldiers.
I watched him go, already itching for night time to descend already so I can give him my answer and finally be his. I really can't wait any longer.
Alpha king keiran.
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a soft, ethereal glow over the grand arena. The air was filled with anticipation as the second night of the Moon Goddess festival approached. With the first night being a splendid success, everybody was looking forward to the next one. This particular night held a special significance, for it was the night of prophecy, when the Moon Goddess would speak through her chosen priestess and guide the lives of the werewolves.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of anxiety, though I was well-acquainted with the rituals of the prophecy night. The moon goddess had never failed us, and her guidance had led our kind through countless generations. Tonight was no different; the moon goddess's message would light our path, just as it always had.
Standing in front of the mirror in my private chambers, adjusting the intricate details of my royal attire. The deep blue fabric of my ceremonial robe shimmered in the candlelight, adorned with silver embroidery that depicted the history and power of our kingdom. My hair fell freely above my soldiers, my deep set eyes revealing nothing. Satisfied with appearance, I donned on my cloak and started out of my chambers, immediately flanked by my guards.
As I made my way through the palace corridors, the sounds of laughter and music grew louder. The festival was in full swing, and the joyous atmosphere was infectious. The scent of delicious food wafted through the air, tempting my senses, but my mind was preoccupied with the events that lay ahead.
Entering the grand arena, I was greeted by the sight of werewolves from all corners of the kingdom. They were dressed in their finest attire, their eyes filled with excitement and curiosity. The arena was adorned with intricate decorations, reflecting the beauty and power of the Moon Goddess. My lips pressed into a thin line, I made my way to my throne.
The festivities were already in full swing, with werewolves engaging in friendly competitions and revelry. The sound of cheers and applause filled the air as participants showcased their strength and agility. I acknowledged the Alpha king's that were present before settling on my throne, overlooking the entire arena. The celebrations resounded in the entire arena but I stayed withdrawn, my gaze unfocused, my thoughts clouded.
My restless eyes scanned the crowd and I found her once more, dancing with a group of people, her radiant presence captivating my attention. As if noticing my presence, she stopped and turned, her gaze meeting mine. We stared at each other for a while, our gaze lingering before she looked away, breaking whatever spell we seemed to be under.
