Chapter 135 Chapter 134
Evelyn.
"What a way to wake up." Keiran groaned as he brushed off my hair away from my face and I craned my head to look at him.
"Good morning to you too." I whispered, a smile on my face. He just smiled, leaning down to kiss my lips before rolling away from my body and taking me along with him. We lay in silence for a while, each of us basking in the aftermath of our early morning passion, quite oblivious to the duties and responsibilities that awaited us outside of this chambers.
The last few months had been nothing short of splendid. The kingdom was healing, and Kieran and I had worked tirelessly to restore peace and order. Now, as I gazed at him, I felt a surge of excitement for the banquet where I would be announced as the Luna Queen. It was a moment I had eagerly anticipated, and I couldn't wait to stand by Kieran's side as his equal, ready to lead our kingdom into a new era of prosperity.
Kieran returned my gaze with a smile of his own before his brows furrowed in question. Pressing his nose against my neck, he breathed me in before pulling away to stare at me, a confused look on his face.
"What is it?" I asked when I couldn't figure out why he was acting that way.
"Is it just me or do you just smell different?" He asked and I felt my heart skipped a beat and I stared at him unblinking for a while. Taking a deep breath, I gave him a sheepish smile as I tried to explain to him.
"Well, I changed my perfume earlier. That must be what you're smelling now." I quickly said, secretly hoping he bought this one. He gazed at me for a quite some time, as if trying to discern if I was telling the truth before pulling me closer for another round of snuggles.
"I like this new scent better." He muttered against my neck, before reaching lower to suckle on my breasts. Surprised that he didn't catch me on my lie, I cradled his head closer to my chest as I let him nibble and suck on my nipples, doing my best to stifle my moans lest we get aroused and spend a great deal of our morning in bed again. I still wanted to keep the truth a secret for a while.
Suddenly, he released my nipples with a pop, gazing at me with a sullen look in his eyes. "I need to resume my duties." He murmured, seemingly displeased as having to part from me. I let out a small chuckle, cupping his face in my hands.
"Of course, you need to. Shouldn't you be leaving now?" I asked but he just groaned and wrapped his hands around my waist, his head resting between my breasts. I laughed then, seemingly surprised at his childish acts. Running my hands through his hair, I did my best to soothe him before he finally agreed to get out of bed. He pulled me in for another kiss, his tongue and hands exploring every part of me before he finally let me go, stepping out of bed, the sheets wrapped around his mid-riff.
I watched him clean himself with a basin of water they had been supplied the night before, before shaving his clean clean and putting on his clothes. Seating on the bed and admiring his dashing figure before finally stepping out to help with his button and ropes. Giving him a kiss once I was done, I smiled against his lips, flushing as he wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me closer.
"I'll see you soon." He murmured before finally stepping away. I let out a small nod, watching him leave the chambers before sinking to the bed. The day of the banquet was fast approaching and although I was excited about it, I was also nervous as well. Most of the refurbishments were already complete and Kieran was even working harder than before to put things into order. It made me immensely proud.
Deciding to get ready as well, I summoned the maids to draw me a warm bath while I thought about my life lately. Amaris has gone back to the duke and has their wedding. The ceremony was a beautiful one and the couple looked so happy and in love. I wished them all the happiness in the world and prayed some time would come my way too. Well, that day was fast approaching. With the help of the maids, I wore my clothes and decided to go for a walk, visitingu sister's grave in the process.
With a bouquet of flowers in hand and two guards walking closely behind me, I made my way to my sister's grave, cleaning off the dirt that had settled on it before placing the bouquet of flowers on it and seating beside her. Though, I missed her terribly, I know she is happy where she is and is looking down on me with so much love. I also would try to be happy here as well.
I turned to look at her gravestone, tears filling my eyes. "I miss you so much sister. But, I know you're happy for me and safe where you are." Sniffing quietly, I let out a watery smile, standing to my feet. "Goodbye now and I'll see you again." I whispered.
As I walked away, I saw a white dive fly across the sky and the gentle wind picked up, blowing past my face and ruffling my hair. I smiled, knowing my sister had listened to me. Blowing a kiss into the wind, I made my way back to the castle where I met Kieran waiting for me, a small smile on his face.
My heart lurched with love and a sense of contentment washed over me. With a smile on her face, I rushed to meet him, and he quickly pulled me to an embrace. I knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, we would face them together. With a grin on my face, I looked up at him. "Come on, let's go." I urged, pulling him along.
He followed me and together we went to have our breakfast.
