Chapter 102 Chapter 101
Alpha king Kieran
She flinched, but doesn't wake up, her cupid lips slightly parted. My fingers trace gentle patterns on her skin, transfixed at the goosebumps that rise in it's wake. She sighed in contentment, surrendering to the comforts of sleep that embraced her. As I watch her peaceful repose, a string of thoughts unfolds in the back of my mind.
The pull towards her is strong, a paradox of vulnerability and strength. Outside, political shadows loom, but in this chamber, her face dominates my thoughts. Our entwined fates weigh on me, and her scent, her breathing, all remind me of the magnetic bond between us.
Though she has proven herself to me over and over again, a part of me is yet to let her in completely even if I'm aware of how much time is running out. I don't want her to keep seeing me as a monster, or worse someone who is to broken to heal and there's still so many things I haven't told her yet and I'm not sure if I would be able to.
"Join me in bed." A voice spoke, momentarily startling me. I looked up to see Evelyn gently staring at me as she patted the empty space beside her. Caught unaware, I had no time to conjure up the mask I usually have on whenever I'm around her. So I just stared at her, half-hoping it's just a figment of my imagination.
"You should be sleeping." I growled back, adopting a brusque time.
"I was... I just woke up and saw you lost in thought. Join me in bed. Let's sleep together. You can worry tomorrow." She said, her voice soft as she gazed at me, the soft smile on her face telling me she'd been watching me for a while now.
She continued to pat the empty space beside her and after a moment of hesitation, I stood up to my feet, going ahead to pull of my ceremonial wears, leaving on a white tunic and my trousers and slip into the bed next to her, keeping myself a safe distance away from her. She stared at me for a while before moving closer, resting her head on my chest, her scent tickling my nose. My wolf purrs in contentment and I let out a sigh, wrapping a hand around her waist and pulling her tighter.
Playing with my tunic with her fingers, she softly whispers. "Go to sleep, Kieran." Before pressing a kiss to my chest, placing her cheeks back on my chest. I slowly oblige, closing my eyes and gently drifting off to sleep, accompanied by her soft breathing sounds. In the tranquil night, I find solace in contemplating what this connection means. The once-shrouded heart now beats in tandem with hers, defying the boundaries of reason.

When I woke up the next morning, I realized that I was all tangled up around Evelyn, locked in a tight hug that seemed unbreakable and was completely different from the way slept last night. Our limbs all wrapped around each other, I spent a good portion trying to pull us apart with stifling success. Her soft pale skin bore marks of my possession the night before and only then did I realize how much I loved seeing it on her body.
The sleep must have worked because I'm waking up with an inkling on how to solve my problems. Stepping out of the bed, I washed my face and body, dressing up immediately after, just in time for Evelyn to wake up and see me button up the rest of my clothes.
"Good morning, your majesty." She greeted, her cheeks tinged with color as she stared at me. I nodded back my response and we fell into an awkward silence for a while before I spoke up.
"You'll be going for a run with me later today." I informed her, silently regarding as she perked up to look at me. "I'll be in my wolf form and you'll pet it, just like you always did." I said, noticing as the tiny flush on her cheeks spread to other parts of her face and down her neck.
"Okay, I'll be looking forward to it." She muttered in a low voice, dropping her gaze back to her hands. With a slight nod, I turned around, picking up my cloak from the hanger where it sat, and proceeded to leave.
"Wait!" She called out, immediately rushing out of the bed, the sheets loosely wrapped around her as she came to meet me. I paused just as I was about to reach the doorknob, turning to meet her.
"What?" I asked as she stood in front of me. Hesitating slightly, she stood on her tiptoes, rearranging the cloak on my shoulders before running her hands through my hair, before drawing me closer to peck me on the cheeks, a smile on her face.
"Thank you for last night." She whispered to my ears and I can't wait to see you this afternoon." She added before lightly kissing my lips. I deepened it before she had the chance to pull away, immediately encircling my hands around her slim waist as I crushed her body to mine.
A soft gasp escaped her lips as she kissed me back, her eyes widening but it soon fluttered shut and she was grabbing onto me as well, the sheets sliding off her body. Desire like no other surged through me and it took all the self control in the world to finally pull away, breathing heavily as I regarded her flushed face.
A huge smile adorned her face and she appeared delighted. I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat, carefully placing her on the ground. She wobbled but a firm hand on her shoulders helped to steady her.
"I have to go now. I'll see you in the afternoon." I said to her before stepping around her and walking out of the chambers, her scent and sweetness permanently clinging to my skin. Once more, my lips threatened to stretch into something unfamiliar and I for the life of me could barely understand why.
