Chapter 3 - Unexpected Journey
"Hey, do you need help?" asked Serena as she rolled down her car window and looked at the four of them in turn.
Looking at all of them, Serena recognized the identities of Oscar and Paulin whom she had also met.
Vernon, who was still staring at her, recognized Serena as a famous celebrity who often appeared on the big screen. He was not a big fan of her but of course, he knew that famous celebrities more often appeared in the media all the time.
Hearing Serena's kindness, of course, they felt grateful and happy. "Yeah, we need help. Our car broke down suddenly but we've already called a tow truck," Vernon replied on her behalf.
"Then get in the back, I'll drive you guys. Where are you going?" Serena replied, smiling at him.
"No!" Cherry suddenly refused to help Serena which made them look at her. "If you want to help me, you have to kick them out of your car." Cherry gave the three of them an unfriendly look.
Serena kept smiling with a show of friendliness until she glanced at Vernon while noticing his tempting abs under his tight white t-shirt that looked so sexy to her.
She knew that Cherry and Vernon were dating, but when she saw that Vernon was ignoring her which meant he didn't care, Serena figured it out.
"I'm sorry, Sweetheart, but I think you're no longer his girlfriend, so I guess I have no obligation to indulge your whims at the expense of others. That's not fair," Serena replied while still smiling politely. She was not in a good mood, but she tried to improve her mood by being sweet and of course wanted to charm Vernon.
"Come in, Cherry. We'll go back to the city together," Paulin invited, trying to get her to put her ego aside.
Unfortunately, Cherry was too stubborn and preferred not to be in the same car with them. "No! I don't want to!"
Serena sighed, "Well, it doesn't matter if she doesn't want to, after all, she can choose something she thinks is good. We already offer the best of her. Anyway, take care, Sweetheart," Serena said and drove away leaving Cherry alone on the road.
The smile on her lips still formed beautifully but her head was filled with what happened just now. Seeing Cherry who was so stubborn, of course, she had no desire to spoil her and make her be in the same car with her. So for her, her decision to leave her alone on the road was the right thing to do.
"So, you guys are going to the city, huh?" asked Serena to start the conversation. She looked to her side briefly, at Vernon, the man who looked sexy in her eyes.
"Yeah. I hope you're okay with helping us," Vernon replied.
"I'm fine. I'm happy to help, especially since I saw that there were no cars on the road except mine."
Serena looked calm and even looked pretty in her tank top and hot pants. She tied her hair up, showing off her beautiful neckline.
Vernon who occasionally glanced at her, occasionally Serena also caught him and just smiled because she knew that they were not just two but four.
"Hey, I'm worried about Cherry," Paulin suddenly spoke. "What if she has an accident there? She's all alone."
"Don't worry. She couldn't have been left alone because she would have called someone to pick her up," Serena replied, representing Vernon. "She will."
At the same time, Vernon called Cherry's driver to make sure if Cherry had called him and told him to pick her up. All of them then heard the conversation between Vernon and Cherry's driver on the phone.
"Did you hear? I already called the driver, Paulin," Vernon said, as he put his cell phone in his pants pocket.
They then fell silent after discussing Cherry where only the music blaring in the jeep filled the silence inside until Serena managed to drive them to the city.
"Thanks, Serena. You were very nice to us," Paulin said before he got out of the car.
"I'm glad I could help," Serena replied, smiling.
The trio then got out of the jeep while Serena stayed inside and watched them from the car window. Paulin and Oscar moved away from the jeep first while Vernon was still on the outside looking at Serena.
Serena, who was preparing to leave, looked at Vernon who was still outside without moving away with his two friends.
"Are you going traveling?" asked Vernon.
"Hmm, yeah. I'm going to the West ... with you," Serena replied jokingly as she intended to take Vernon with her. "I mean if you want. But if not, never mind, I’m joking," she added, breaking the ice.
Vernon chuckled as he gave a lopsided smile. It was strange to hear a woman ask him out after he broke up with his girlfriend. Moreover, the woman he did not expect to ask him to travel with was a famous celebrity.
"Wait, you took us to the city but you're going West ... that's a time-consuming endeavor, you know," Vernon laughed.
Serena nodded her head. "I know. But that's what I like. I'm going to be traveling, but pacing around in an unfamiliar area is a challenge for me. Besides, I'm trying to get some fresh air. Ugh, I need to clear my mind."
Vernon looked at the way Serena spoke. He sensed that the beautiful woman in the jeep was having problems and knew that she needed a friend to accompany her on her adventures.
"Are you always like this? Traveling alone when you need fresh air or something?" asked Vernon.
Serena shrugged her shoulders with both hands that remained behind the wheel. "I'm a loner who loves adventure. So yeah, I've always been like this."
Serena still hoped that Vernon would come with her, but she didn't need to ask for a joking reason twice because she didn't want her pride to fall for a man. Not after she ended her love story with Henry.
Meanwhile, Vernon seemed to be thinking heavily, as if he was given a choice and he was thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of going with Serena.
But finally, he thought that there was no harm in clearing his mind together after that day he broke up with Cherry. Because his time with Cherry was still lingering in his mind and he needed to get rid of those negative things away from him.
"Okay, I'm coming with you," Vernon said after he got into the jeep all of a sudden.
