Chapter 160 HIS SISTER'S COLOUR
Chapter 160 HIS SISTER'S COLOUR
CHAPTER 160
EMBER
I looked at him, confusion clear on my face. “Why did you say that?” I asked, my voice still shaky from everything that had happened.
Kael chuckled, the sound low in his chest. He grabbed me in his arms, his hold strong and warm. He shifted back into his dragon form, scales rough against my skin.
He held me carefully in his legs and flew around the academy building toward Halven Roost. The wind rushed past us fast. He reached a window and hung me on the ledge.
I gripped the wall tighter, my fingers digging into the cold stone, and climbed up. I opened the window latch with a click and slipped into the room, my legs trembling as I landed inside.
Kael flew at the window. I screamed at him, my heart jumping into my throat.
He grunted. Just as he reached the window frame, he shifted and dove into the room, landing perfectly on his feet.
He turned to look at me and smiled. “You llove screaming at things that don’t need screaming at all.”
I shook my head, still catching my breath. “You behave crazy sometimes. I thought you were going to ram into the wall.”
Kael laughed. “I always do this.”
He walked toward the bathroom, his steps confident. He asked me, “How come you aren't blushing at me standing naked in front of you?”
I snapped and rolled my eyes, heat rising in my cheeks. “Maybe I'm sed to guys flashing their junks in front of me.”
He laughed darkly. “Bath with me.”
I balked at him and shook my head, my cheeks reddening more. I turned away quickly. “No thanks.”
He laughed again and entered the bathroom. The sound of water running followed. I turned to take in his room.
The walls were painted a deep purple that felt calm but strong. The bed was huge, big enough to fit five people easily, covered with smooth purple bedsheets and matching pillowcases that looked soft.
Heavy purple and black mixed curtains draped over the windows, blocking most of the outside light. A large, comfortable-looking sofa sat on one side of the bed with thick cushions.
On the other side stood a huge wooden table and chair, covered with scattered books and papers that looked well-used.
The closet was massive, taking up a whole wall. His room looked simple yet elegant, with everything in its place but still lived-in.
I called out to him in the bathroom, raising my voice. “Is your favorite color purple?”
He stayed silent and didn’t reply. I settled into the sofa, the cushions sinking under my weight, and clasped my hands tightly as I waited for him to step out. My mind raced with questions I didn’t dare ask yet.
He soon came out wrapped in a towel that covered his waist, water still dripping from his hair. He walked to the closet and pulled out a pink sweatpants and shirt.
He threw them at me. “Wash yourself and change in the bathroom. There’s a new towel there.”
His luminary beeped. He glanced at it and looked up. “Michael wants all students to be at the Auditorium in fifteen minutes. That means the other students and teachers have returned.”
I nodded, grabbed the clothes, and headed into the bathroom. The bathtub was huge and white, everything around it clean and neat.
I let the warm water wash over my body and hair, scrubbing away the dirt and blood. I changed into the clothes, the fabric soft against my skin.
I came out to see him dressed in a tight-fitting black body-hug t-shirt and grey pants.
He stared at me for a while, his eyes warm. He smiled. “The clothes look beautiful on you.”
I narrowed my gaze. “It’s weird for a man to wear pink clothes.”
He laughed and stood up. He walked gently behind me. He whispered, “Stay still.”
His hands grabbed my hair. At first I didn’t recognize the motion, but then I realized he was braiding it. He came to my front, patted a few strands, and stepped back.
His eyes glinted with desire. “Now you look like my imagination.”
I narrowed my gaze again. “Does the Ember in your imagination always wear pink clothes?”
His eyes raked over my full body. He shook his head. “That decision came entirely from me. I thought you’d look good in pink.”
“Weird,” I said. “Does that mean your favorite color is purple?”
Kael pressed his lips tightly and stared at me for a while before saying, “It’s my sister’s color.”
I opened my mouth to say something more, but he cut me off. “It’s already fifteen minutes. The students would’ve started gathering at the auditorium so we should better start going.”
I nodded. “Right.” We headed out of his room and down the corridors. I had seen that look in his eyes. It was filled with so much raw pain and guilt. I knew pressing him for answers would only make him angry and recoil into himself.
So I resolved I wouldn’t ask him about his sister until he was ready to talk about it.
