Chapter 137
Chapter 137
I opened my eyes slowly to see that so many eyes were staring at me. They looked so scared and worried.
"She's awake," somebody said.
"She's running a temperature," another said.
I tried to sit up and someone helped me up. It was Kath.
"Hi," I mumbled slightly.
"How do you feel now?" She asked.
I smiled. "I feel better, Kath. But I am thirsty."
Ariel offered me a bottle of water, which was surprising to me. I took the bottle from her and mumbled a thank you.
"You're welcome," she answered.
D-did Ariel just answered me properly?
I drank the water and gave the empty bottle to Kath. Kath touched my forehead.
"Your temperature has returned to normal. I will get you some drugs when we get to the dorm."
I nodded and muttered a thank you.
One after the other, everyone began to sit down, and we continued our journey. We finally got back to the dorm and got off the bus.
Kath followed me to the room with Ariel and her personal maid.
"How about our bags?" I asked Kath.
"Don't worry, we will get them in a few hours," Kath answered. "They are going to be inspected first." I nodded and went to lie on the bed. "I am going to get you something to eat and some drugs too," she said and left the room.
Ariel's maid followed her too, leaving Ariel with me. I closed my eyes trying to get some sleep.
"Do you want some cookies?" Ariel asked and I opened my eyes. She was standing in front of me with a pack of cookies in her hand. "You should have some. It's delicious," she said and I nodded.
"Thank you."
I took the cookies from her and she returned to her bed. I opened the pack and began to mulch on them. Kath and Ariel's maid walked in a few minutes later. She brought in a tray with a plate of pasta and a bottle of orange juice. There were also some drugs in the tray.
"Thank you, Kath," I said and she smiled.
I ate the pasta, took the orange juice, and also took the drugs. Kath and Ariel's maid left with the trays. I brought out my phone and decided to call Pearl.
We spoke for a little while about a few things before ending the call. I called Tiffany and Audrey, too, and we spoke for a short while.
Our bags were brought in a few minutes later. When Kath and Ariel's maid returned, they began to arrange our clothes.
"There is going to be a meeting by ten," Kath said when she was done. "And dinner will be by eight."
I stared at the wall clock it was past seven. I decided to take my bath and change into something more comfortable.
"Would you be able to have dinner in the dining room?" Kath asked as I headed to the bathroom. "I can take permission for you."
I shook my head. "You don't have to do that. I am better now."
I wanted to know what it feels like to eat with other Unusuals, most especially our seniors.
I quickly took my bath and then got dressed in a blue dress; this was the first time I had worn a dress since I came to Voidspire.
"Is this really okay?" I asked Kath for the umpteenth time.
Kath assured me it was. I still wasn't okay with it until I saw Ariel dressed in the same blue dress.
"Is this a uniform?" I whispered.
"Yes, it is." Kath nodded and I groaned slightly.
She should have said so from the beginning. I was so worried.
We left the room and headed to the dining room. I thought Kath and Ariel's maid wouldn't go in with us, but they did; it was different from what I was used to.
We entered the hall to meet a very lively view. The once cold girls I met when I first came were all chatting with each other.
There wasn't any number indicating where to sit, either, and I loved that. I found a random seat and sat down. Surprisingly, Ariel chose a seat beside me.
Kath and Ariel's maid left the hall, after telling us they were going to get dinner. I began to listen to the conversations around us. A lot of them were funny and they made me laugh.
"You can understand all of them?" Ariel asked and I nodded. "How are you able to do that? There are so many of them talking."
I smiled. "I am a werewolf. Our ears are pretty sharp. I just have to focus on what conversation I want to listen to."
She nodded. "I see."
Ariel went on with whatever she was doing, and I had to continue listening to others' conversations.
"You know my little brother, Jayden, right?" Ariel said after a while.
I turned to face her. "Yes. But for a few minutes. We did not speak for long."
Ariel shook her head. "I wasn't talking about that. He is a werewolf too."
I muttered an oh. She just wanted me to know that he is a werewolf.
"He told me that," I answered. "But I did not sense it."
"My mom hid his scent. I don't know how she did that though."
I nodded. She must be powerful to be able to do that.
"Do you know why your mom is an Unusual?" I asked and she frowned.
"You think because I spoke to you, you can ask me some random questions?"
I furrowed my brows. Why is she getting so worked up?
"I am so sorry. I did not mean any harm. I am just curious."
She burst into laughter and I became more confused. "I got you right?" She asked.
"What do you mean by that?"
She smiled. "I was just joking with you. I do not know why my mom is an Unusual, but I am certain she's got so many powers. I have seen a few of them."
Ariel's eyes were filled with admiration; I could tell she admired her mother so much.
"You admire her. Don't you?"
"I do," she nodded in agreement. "But she can be scary at times. You wouldn't want to see the other side of her."
Ariel's eyes were filled with fear this time. Is her mom that scary?
I decided to change the conversation. "Why do you always...."
"Kath and Serena are here," Ariel announced, her eyes brightening up.
Serena must be her maid's name.
Kath and Serena brought our food to our table. I had thought we would all wait for the girl in room one or the one in charge to start eating before we joined in, or we had to wait for Miss Miranda to speak to us first, but none of this happened.
Everyone began to eat at a random time. What surprised me more was how quiet the hall became since the moment the maids brought in the food; I admire that.
We were done eating at different times, too, and we didn't have to wait for each other before we left the hall.
