Chapter 125

Chapter 125
"Was I supposed to be angry?" The Demon King asked, his voice very calm.
I said nothing. I was surprised he agreed to help me out, just because Ashley asked him, and was not angry about Ashley finding out who I am to him, or his voice would have shown it.
I was even more surprised that he didn't get angry with me, for not answering him. He didn't say anything either.
I went ahead to look out of the window. We were driving in silence, and I was getting bored with it.
I placed my hand in my pocket to bring out my phone and check what the time was, but realized I had left it in my room.
I had no wristwatch on either; just two bracelets. I stared at my hand to admire the bracelets Tiffany had bought for me and was still doing that, when the Demon King grabbed my hand and pulled it towards him. It was so sudden that I was pulled alongside, and I ended up hugging him.
He released his grip on my hand and raised my chin up.
"Are you not done hugging me?"
I chuckled slightly and pulled away quickly. "I am sorry."
"Where did you get this bracelet from?" He asked.
"This..." I pointed at the bracelet Tiffany gave me. "It's from a friend. A female friend."
I made sure to clarify it, or he would misunderstand me.
"Not that. This..." He pointed at the other bracelet. It was the one given to me by Jayden. "Why does it have two other colors aside from the black?"
I stared at it. The two colors represent my two distinct wolves but I won't be telling him that.
I stared at him and then at the bracelet. I knew I needed to think of what to say to him that would not arouse any suspicion, but I couldn't think about it without him listening to it.
"Pearl," I blurted out. That was the first name that came to my mind. "She gave it to me."
"Why?" He asked.
I furrowed my brows. "As a gift?"
He pulled it off my hand and began to stare at it. I became scared that he would find out I had lied to him. I tried my best not to think about it, or I would get caught.
"Gift?" He mumbled and I nodded.
"Yes, gift."
I did not know how long he stared at it, but when he finally put it back on my hand, I breathed a sigh of relief. My heart was beating fast, so I looked away, hoping he wouldn't notice my reaction.
He did not say anything about the bracelet or have other conversations with me or Nathan. I said nothing and neither did Nathan; the rest of the drive was in silence.
It did not take long before the car finally stopped in front of a house and we all stepped out.
I sucked in some air and moved away when they began to talk. Although they didn't ask me to, I just wanted some fresh air away from them; the last few minutes of the drive were tense.
I took a few steps forward and then backward, stretched, and then moved closer to them. Soon, they were done talking.
Nathan waved at me. "I am leaving, Karen. See you tomorrow."
"You are not coming with us?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I am going to see someone, and will not be back until past midnight."
I nodded. "See you tomorrow then."
Nathan left and I followed the Demon King into the house.
"Get me a glass of juice," he said, sitting down.
I headed to the kitchen to get the juice, but when I realised I had not asked which one he preferred, I returned.
Orange or pineapple? I wanted to ask him, but he wasn't in the living room.
I waited for a few minutes for his return. When he did not come back, I decided to make both.
I returned to the kitchen and made both orange and pineapple juices; he loves fresh juice. I poured each into a cup and added some ice, before placing them on a tray and then taking them to the living room.
He was back when I got there. I placed the tray on the table and asked which of it he wanted. He pointed at the pineapple juice and I gave it to him. He took it from me, sipped a little, and then handed it over to me
"You can take it back."
I frowned but quickly concealed it. Why did he make me go through making it when he was going to take only a little from it?
"Do you have a problem with it?" He asked.
"No, I don't," I answered, walking away.
I took the tray to the kitchen and returned to meet him.
"Is there anything else you want me to do?" I asked but he gave no reply.
I waited patiently for the next instruction, which didn't seem to be forthcoming.
"Let me have that bracelet," he said, stretching his hand to me.
I knew he wanted the one Jayden gave me but I wasn't going to just give it out. I pulled out the one Tiffany bought and handed it over to him.
He stared at me. "You know the bracelet I want."
His voice wasn't as calm as it was since we began to talk; I knew he wasn't joking.
I wore Tiffany's bracelet back and reluctantly removed the other one. I was also reluctant to give it to him but he took it.
"I am keeping this with me," he said. "You can go to bed. See you tomorrow."
"W-what about my bracelet?" I asked.
"Go to sleep," he answered.
I took a deep breath and headed in whatever direction my legs were carrying me.
I was a bit scared that he would find out the bracelet wasn't given to me by Pearl and also what the color of the two beads stands for.
What if he finds out? I thought. What if...
"Do you know where you are sleeping?" He asked and I stopped walking.
"No, I don't," I mumbled.
"The first room on your right when you get upstairs."
I did not reply; I just went upstairs. I got to the room and then sat on the bed. Different thoughts ran through my mind.
He is going to give me back my bracelet, right? He won't keep it with him for a long time or even forever, right?
I was scared and at the same time anxious to know what the answer would be.
I was scared he was going to find out the secret about the bracelet and dislike me for being a werewolf with two wolves and maybe send me away.
The thought of that made me feel hot, and my heart began to beat very fast. I began to shiver too, not because I was cold but because I was scared.
My bones suddenly began to crack and I could tell I was able to shift.
I growled. But to which of the wolves?
