Chapter 71 CHAPTER 71
"Ouch!”
“Just blood, you shout too much,” he grumbled, adjusting his coat as he pulled more blood from the vein he ruptured in my shoulder.
“Is that needle sterile? You just pulled it out of your bag and stabbed me with it,” I complained, hating how much pain the act was causing me.
I'd nearly been killed in several ways but this needle was showing me a new dimension of pain.
Finally, he pulled it out and I considered fighting for him to give me back my blood but the Principal said he's from the king.
Too high up for my tantrums.
But it still felt weird watching him walk away with a large chunk of my blood. It didn't matter that I'd been getting healthier down here.
I looked at myself in the mirror after swimming classes the other day and I was shocked to see my body had changed so much.
My muscles were so defined, my stomach had abs markings, my ass was bigger and I looked strong. I won't miss my soft, weak Alira form, trust me. She nearly got me killed.
But still, in comparison to everyone else here, I looked like a child.
I tensed up when the doctor returned again, this time with a knife.
“What are you doing? Are you trying to kill me?”
“Relax Missus, I need all tissues for testing.”
“Relax? You want me to relax when you're coming at me with a knife, about to slice me open?”
“You don't have to relax, but I need skin.”
His words were clinically delivered, his eyes empty as fuck, giving me so much terror.
It was like I was back in that chair all over again, even though I wasn't strapped in.
He walked into my personal space, and instead of the flesh he said he was aiming for, he cut a chunk of my hair.
I wanted to scream but I forced myself to stay calm, biting my lower lip until I drew blood.
He dropped the strands, white and purple on a tray, then took my hand and rolled the sleeve of my shirt up to my ankle.
With the knife, he cut my skin like the bark of a tree, and I forced my eyes shut as the pain hit.
Healing for the hand will definitely take longer than normal.
“Scales. When they appear?”
I struggled to speak, my mind and my body were filled with pain, memories clashing with reality.
“Answer question or I use harsher method. Me don't have time for petulant children!”
“First week here,” I ground out, shaking my head, hoping to get control of my mind again.
Baldwin will not catch me, I'm stuck here anyway.
“Where else it appear?”
“My back and legs, lower part of my spine too.”
I omitted the ones I discovered on my ass last week, for some reason, it felt different from the others.
He nodded and like the jackass he is, he dropped the flesh he'd cut, still holding my hand, then he dug the tip of the knife into one scale and he pulled.
I screamed.
“Stop this for goodness sake!”
He didn't stop, the pain was unbearable and the scale wasn't moving an inch.
I realised all these while that I wasn't staying still of my own accord, something was keeping me in place.
I trashed but barely moved, he just kept applying pressure, changing the position of the knife and making me scream louder.
For some reason, nobody was hearing me, and my other hand struggled to move until I pulled out the stone from my pocket.
I usually kept it around my neck but today, I transferred it there and I've never been more grateful for my gut instincts.
But it was of no use.
The scale finally gave in and the doctor pulled, the first sign of emotion showing on his face.
He seemed mildly pleased and with that, he turned around and moved away with his tray.
He picked a vial from his bag and gave it to me.
“Drink this every evening before you go to bed. Don't miss a day.”
“What is it for?” I grumbled, irritated, raw and emotional.
“Late bloomer. And Magic barrier inside you. It will loosen.”
“I already loosened it, Master Florian did it for me.”
His face hardened at the mention of the name, making me wonder how far spread this hate for the Instructor went.
“Drink. Don't ask questions.”
“You can't expect me to drink what I don't understand!”
“You're sick, you need medicine. I give medicine and you want me explain years of study?”
“No, just tell me what this is for!”
“I told you for breaking barrier.” He wasn't shouting, I was.
“And I told you that's done with already! Can't you see it?”
He paused and looked at me again, at the gaping hole he left in my hand where the scale was and then at my tear-stained face.
“He brought out your Chi from behind the barrier but barrier still stays. Take the medication and come back in a week. Your results will be ready.”
The door flung open so harsh it banged against the wall.
“Why was this door shut?!” Principal Draco screamed, his voice booming across the hall and room.
“I like to work in private.”
“If you want to do anything in this place, this door must be open at all times or I'll send your remains in a vase back to the King!”
“You can leave now. I have work.”
That aggravated the Principal further and since I wasn't willing to witness a murder, I reached towards him and touched his hand.
“Please take me to the healer,” I said, showing him my hand.
“Oh Stars! What did he do to you? What the fuck did you do to her?!”
“Samples for tests. Close the door after you.”
His words were said in a tone that was driving me insane, flat, unemotional and crude.
If I could, I'd lift him off the ground and shake him till he showed some emotion.
But I was hurting and the Principal would enjoy doing that more instead so I could only do one thing.
“Please, Eruwan,” I pressed.
“She's not in the school, I sent her to take care of the people at Howling Lands. But I have some ointment that will ease the pain until she gets back. This will mean you're off strenuous training, you hear me?”
“Yes sir,” I nodded, happy that one good thing came out of all of this.
My smile faded when I realised I was going to his house again.
With the way my body, mind and soul behave around this man, I hope I don't betray Zade.
