Chapter 28 CHAPTER 28

Chapter 28 CHAPTER 28
“As you all know, dragons are our main magic source but beyond that…”

Her voice droned on, my mind drifting away from the teacher going on about the different types of dragons and something else.

She was doing this whole revision because of me but I couldn't concentrate on anything she was saying.

I felt so exhausted and tired that I feared I might pass out.

I couldn't stop blinking, even though I'd allowed the reality to settle in my head.

There was something wrong with the portal that brought me here and I needed to find a way to know more about it and then, find a way out.

In the meantime, I just had to stay away from the boy whose mission it's become to drive me towards my exit from life.

“That'll be all for today,” I looked up as students were getting up, “Miss Alira, remember to submit your assignments to me before the week runs out. I need to know what level of special attention you'll be needing.”

I nodded, not even remembering what assignment she was talking about.

Time flew by so fast and I couldn't recollect a single moment of the class I'd just attended.

I thought my years of studying and assignments were behind me but this place was determined to humble me in every possible way, dousing me back to the level I’d surpassed on earth.

“Where are you going?” Mira demanded as I followed them towards the direction of the hostels, her snarky tone gone.

She was actually curious.

“Aren't we going to clean up before dinner?”

“She means why are you going home with us,” Erin explained.

“I don't understand. You said we're going to register my details tomorrow, or do you want me to go alone? I can–”

“Mistress Kava literally told you about your last class,” Akua rolled her eyes.

“Oh,” my mood took a further noose dive. I'd completely forgotten about that. “It's now?”

“Yes, take your left to the training grounds by the Eastern side. Don't worry, it's just a straight path this way. It's a smaller, more private open space that instructors use for themselves so you can't miss it.”

I didn't argue much even though I felt like screaming out the frustration lodged in my throat.

“Thank you, I'll meet you guys back where?”

“At the dining hall. It's different from the Cafeteria. Ask him to direct you, he's not as harsh as most Masters.”

“Because he's a flirt,” Akua quipped in.

“What?”

“Don’t mind Akua,” Mira chuckled, “he refused her advances and now he's her sworn enemy.”

“He smiled at me first!”

I exchanged a look with Erin before I headed off in the direction she pointed.
Time to go meet some flirty instructor who was intent on helping the Academy break me further.

My body might be getting better, healing faster than normal but my soul was weary. I began thinking of excuses to give this Instructor since he's considered nicer. I know I should take him seriously, get stronger and all of the things Erin said, but I just couldn't bring myself to do any of that tonight.

My feet, ankles and head hurt and I was one inch away from bursting into tears.

I should have paid more attention to where I was going, considering I didn't really know which way was where but I realized I'd walked for a long time and the open field was nowhere in sight.

Granted, this place was huge and everywhere was far from everywhere but still, I'd walked for a while and all I could see where stone hewn houses with small lighting in some places and none in others.

And everywhere was eerily quiet.

‘I should go back,’ I thought to myself as I turned around.

And bumped into a hard chest.

“Eeeek!” I shrilled, panicked and terrified. I thought it was Kovar again for a second but then I knew he didn't have half the bulk of body this person had.

And he definitely didn't smell this good, nor does he have muscles that looked so…

Snap out of it, Alira.

“Lost, Princess?”
My body literally shook from the baritone of the voice.
Thick. Rough. Sensual even though I could tell he didn't mean it that way. I'm just a horny, frustrated girl trying not to die.

I looked up – and up – and forgot how to breathe.
He was... beautiful. Devastatingly so.
Long blonde hair that caught the moonlight, sharp hazel eyes studying me with a tired look in them, rings glinting on his fingers where they still held my arms.

Gosh, as if the Principal wasn't already doing enough damage to my senses.

“Who are you?” I snapped, shoving all the weird feelings away and moving away from his tempting form.
Everything about him was confusing me, so I clung to any reason to be angry.

He bumped into me after all and is the reason my body is tingling… no, hurting this much right now.

His eyebrow arched. "Excuse me?"
"You bumped into me," I snapped
"You ran into me, actually."
"—and you're in my way."

He stared at me for a long moment. Then he laughed while shaking his head. Short, sharp, disbelieving.

“You don't know me, do you?” He quizzed, and I found it hard to but I forced myself to be as ridiculously pissed as possible. My vagina needed to know when things were serious.

“Are you the King or something? Why should everyone know you?”

“Well if you weren't such a snobbish girl, you would realize I'm asking because everyone in this Academy does know me. I'm a part of the Instructors here, not that I want to be, but a beloved one at that. If you don't know me, then…” he took a double take at me, “you're the new girl, aren't you?”

“I'm twenty five years old sir, hardly a girl.”

I've been married, had a career and finished school, so I don't know why he insisted on calling me a girl.

“You definitely are. Everyone used to this Kingdom and planet as a whole knows that the two suns elongate our life span. Twenty five is actually a baby. Now, enough of all of this. Follow me,” he commanded, and walked past me towards the direction I was turning around from.

“Follow you? I was headed somewhere before you rammed yourself into me!”

“I did, didn't I?” He smirked, making me clench for no damn reason.

None at all.

“Have a good night sir!” I turned back around and took one step away before I was halted.

“Young lady, I've had a fucking rough day and I'll rather be doing anything else than teaching some weakling with a smart mouth. I'm trying my best to be nice to you but you have to shove that attitude away and come for your training. Right now!”

“Master Florian?” I gasped, realizing who exactly I was talking to.

“At your service if you move your feet. In the opposite direction.”

I turned and did as instructed, dread filling my bones.

I'd gone and ruined the chance I had to convince him to let me cancel tonight’s training.

Good one, Alira.
