Chapter 72 72
DAVINA ELM.
Even though I spent time with Dragon Sovereign for the rest of the day, I still recalled River and how he shed tears because of me. I felt so guilty for making him feel that way, yet there was nothing I could do.
I understood how we shouldn't be close to the dragons, but when it has to do with soulbond, could it be destroyed that easily? He should just understand that I have no power to end the bond, and I didn't think I could if I even had the power, for I think the deities that made it happen knew it was a taboo in the first place.
Dragon Sovereign slept off quickly while I ran my fingers in his beard, and when I guessed he had slept deeper, I sneaked out of his chamber into mine.
Once I lay down, I recalled Ofelia. Was she good? It's been a long time since we saw each other.
What kind of money does she make that doesn't give her chances? Maybe it was just good, so she doesn't start running her mouth and triggering Dragon Sovereign again. I dismissed the thought of her because I didn't want to recall Perrin or what had transpired between us last time.

After my duties the next day, I thought of going after Ofelia before she left that morning. She always left around noon, so I had to move fast to catch up.
I reached the house she stayed in happily, and began knocking…but no one responded to me, even though the door wasn't locked up. I screamed her name, “Ofelia!!” hoping that she would hear me from wherever she was, but I got no response. “Where could she be, leaving the door unlocked?” I queried and walked into the house.
For the first time, I paraded through the whole building, and it was empty of her. When I came out on the balcony, I screamed her name once again, “Ofelia, where are you?”
“Fae female?!” I heard someone mention behind me, and I shuddered. “Are you sure she hasn't left?”
I turned, and it was Perrin, so I shook my head. Seeing her alone brought back memories of the past, and I waved them off instantly. It infuriated my master, so I shouldn't do that again….and with how she didn't lustfully gaze at me, I wondered if she had found a partner.
“This isn't the time she leaves, and the door is unlocked,” I said to her, and her brows drew together.
“Unlocked?” she asked and flitted out of my sight.
I walked around until I came into the frontage, and Perrin was standing there with a contorted expression.
“Hadn't you seen her this morning?” I asked, and she shook her head. “Then where could she be?”
“I'm just showing up here now,” she muttered and climbed down the veranda. “What about you returning so I can go after her? She must have left for something, but I'm still not sure.”
For someone who had no choice, I nodded and began leaving.
“How enraged was your master the other time?” Her voice made me halt; my heart thudded loudly before I sucked in my lip and turned around.
“He was very enraged…” I answered, and she exhaled.
Walking towards me slowly, she said, "I'm sorry for being the cause, and I promise to control myself and not lose it again towards you. I promise!”
For some reason, I saw some sincerity in her voice. And that moment, I was so delighted she was getting over me.
“Did you find a partner?” I asked, and she shook her head. Then how did she move on easily?
“The faes are all in a mess, and I wouldn't want to defy Sovereign just because of my stupid feelings. I've gotten so busy recently that I hardly think of my emotions. But….” she smiled and leaned her face closer to me. My heart skipped, yet I comported myself. “...you’re going to help me by not being close to me. Don't stay alone with me, and avoid me when you are in your fertility window. If you happen to trigger me, especially in your fertility window when my dragon would lose control because of your musk, I don't guarantee letting you go without having a taste of it.”
I nodded, "That's not a problem. I will try helping you, but you need to get yourself a partner.”
“Partner?” she scoffed. “I don't want to get betrayed again.”
“Then just stop being into women.”
“I've been like this from birth,” she said with a soft smile. “And I think it's impossible to change now.”
I shook my head, "It's not completely impossible. You could still do it and enjoy it. Just a matter of time, and getting a man who understands your body.”
She didn't look like she was interested in my words, but she still listened and nodded when I was done. “I'll see to it in the future…”
I chuckled, bowed slightly to her, and began leaving.
The rest of the day got me sleeping, because Dragon Sovereign was yet to return from wherever he went. But by the time I woke up and decided to check if he was back from wherever he went, I saw that a sheet of brown paper had been snuck into my room through the door.
I picked up the paper, opened it, and read what was written on it.
For the first time, I didn't understand what was going on until I read it the second and third times.
No way! I snarled in my mind and dashed out of my chamber. I headed to meet Dragon Sovereign, but he wasn't back yet, and there was no sign of his right-hand man either. For that, I didn't need to wait any longer, so I got dressed and put on the padded footwear that Sovereign got for me, and then left the palace.
None of the guards questioned me, because they knew my identity and must have thought that I was sent on an errand by my master. Whereas I was going after Ofelia, who had been abducted, and I was given the direction to meet her.
I just needed to be fast, so I hastened up.
On the paper, the route was shown as well, so I didn't need to ask anyone; I just followed it. While looking at the book, I found the direction given, so I took off on my heels.
My breath was fast. I wanted to be there on time.
‘Lia, please hang on. I'm coming.’ I thought, blinking so my tears wouldn't blur my vision.
This was my fear when I wanted her back to the human land.
