Chapter 54 54
For a long time, I kept scratching my whole skin…until I felt my breath hitch and I slumped backwards. I was drawn into darkness, and my mother's face, all smiling, appeared to me. I tried to touch her, to hold her from leaving, but she turned her back against me and began leaving.
I cried out aloud, thinking she would at least spare me a glance, only to jolt up from the floor where I lay.
I looked at my finger, which was all hot, and the smoke was there once again.
My body wasn't itching any longer, yet I couldn't understand what was wrong with me. Since my parents' execution, this happened to be the first time I saw my mum, and she never turned back to me. Could she be pissed like my brother was towards my action?
I stared at my fingers, the peacock green smoke not ending. I stood on the ground and walked to the mirror, and I found out that my hair and eye colour had changed to peacock green, too.
What could this be? I recalled the fae who died in my hands and changed colour too, so could this be my fae colour? It wasn't that I was regaining my powers, right? So how did the itching stop?
I looked around the room, and I was still the only one there. Dragon Sovereign had left and hadn't returned, so what would all these be called? Did he know what was happening to me?
My feet carried me towards the door even when I didn't want to leave. I was supposed to unlock the door once I reached there, yet I didn't bother and reached towards the middle of the door.
For heaven's sake, I didn't want to believe that I was gaining my powers, because this would make me start talking about soulmates or whatever with Dragon Sovereign.
Something I hadn't ever seen with my eyes was what I did. I simply walked out of the chamber through the closed door as though it was nothing.
I felt so different, as though someone was in me and had taken over my body.
Even when I tried to smile, I felt I didn't have a heart anymore and walked straight towards my chamber. Just again, I entered through the locked door and made myself comfortable on the bed.
Unlike after I had just finished eating, when I felt full, I didn't feel like I had intestines too, and just didn't want to taste anything.
I sat for a long time, having nothing that I thought of at that moment, until I felt tired and lay back on the bed.
___
I didn't know how long I slept, but even though I was deep asleep, I heard sounds at the door of my chamber, as though someone was trying to get in without my consent.
As I sat up on the mattress, I happened to see beyond the door itself.
When the sound came again, I raised my face only to see the man standing there and trying to unlock the door. I stood up, but didn't move…until he finally succeeded and barged in.
He unsheathed his sword, but as his gaze landed on me, who was standing, the sword he was holding slipped through his fingers.
I walked slowly towards him, and as he stepped backwards, trying to escape, I waved my hand towards the door; it slammed shut.
A deadly smile stretched my lips as I sealed up the door with a barrier so no one from outside would be able to kick it open. I raised my fingers and found pleasure watching as the green smoke faced the roof, while the man's legs raised from the ground, while he struggled to breathe.
Once I was pleased with the height of him off the ground, I flung him to the right, and his body slammed on the wall, followed by his low groan of pain.
How wasn't he prepared for me? He was a dragon. Or was he so shocked that the weakling he was coming for had changed?
I picked up his sword from the ground and stared at the shiny blade, then threw it into the air, and it hung there.
“What are you doing? Aren't you that weak like they say?” he groaned, blood spilling from his lips. “You’ve been deceiving the ruler, so you must not live,” he added and struggled to his feet.
I wasn't in the mood to talk, but only admired how bloody his lips were.
Before he could fully stand to his feet, I commanded the sword towards him. He tried to dodge it, and I quickly crossed my middle fingers together, having the sword split into several types.
He growled in his dragon voice and spat towards me a whirlwind, but I placed my two fingers on my forehead, my eyes shut, sending back the whirlwind to him.
Once he was wrapped by the wind, I released those swords towards him and watched as he was stabbed in different sides of his body, including his chest. And as he slumped to the floor, the wind vanished, and I chuckled.
It was all fun doing that with no atom of fear, and I only wished someone else would show up to attack me, too.
I was about to destroy the barrier I had created when a dragon appeared through the roof and curled its body around me. I fought to let go, tried using my powers, but it didn't let me move.
It dragged me up to the roof and flew off, while I still fought to be freed. But after a long flight, it somersaulted towards the ground and let go of my body only to be held by someone.
I raised my eyelids to meet his white eyes. Knowing how destructive he could be at this point, I hurled my body away from him, hoping to stand firm on my own and challenge him, but he tied me up with his fire string and pulled me closer to himself.
My breath ragged. The sight of him irritated me more.
“A fae has no power over the life of a dragon…” he muttered to me and pushed me backwards with force that I lost my balance.
Before I could get myself, he surrounded me with nails glittering like a flame.
“I just do not want to draw the attention of anybody, but you must learn your lesson,” he growled at me and just that once, I fell to my knees.
The string was burning too much, and there was no way to fight him when all my body was tied up. “Don't kill me, please…” yet deep down, I had that feeling I was trying to deceive him, and I wasn't sure he knew. I just wanted him to let go of me, and I would strike him to death.
Who said being a dragon meant you owned everyone?
I was panting, staring at him…and at the same time, seeing beyond the real him.
He flitted towards me and flicked his finger on my forehead. But as little as it was, it hurt badly.
That instant, I felt something leave me, and I was empty again. My body gave out when it couldn't stand how weak we became.
I felt so dizzy and didn't want to pass out, but my system said otherwise, and I got drawn into the hole of darkness.
