Chapter 26 26
When I didn't answer Perrin, she shrugged her shoulders, “If you insist, then I will take you to his chamber.”
I bowed slightly to her, “Then, I have to tell Ofelia of your response before we leave.” She nodded, and then I left the room to meet with Lia. I explained to her how I had discussed with Perrin, and then assured her that I would come to see her if I got the privilege.
Perrin teleported me to the Dragon Sovereign's chamber and left me to fend for myself from there. “If there's a situation that I need to come, then I will be here,” she assured me, patted my shoulders, and left.
I knocked on the door twice, yet no one responded. There was no way to know if he was in there, and if I had known, I would have insisted that Perrin find out if he was in there or not. I knocked the third time, and someone finally opened the door—a lady with white hair, long enough that it touched her waist.
She was beautiful, wearing the same look as the Dragon Sovereign, but her expression while facing me showed that she was kind of irritated.
I bowed to her, “Dragon lady, I'm here to see the Dragon Sovereign…”
“Of what use?!” came a masculine voice, and it was also someone who looked like Dragon Sovereign, with white hair that was tied into a knot too, his hands clamped backwards, and expression contorted. “The fae female? It's so nice to see you today,” he commented and clapped his hands.
I was scared of raising my face, so I asked them, “Could I see the Dragon Sovereign?” The last word had just left my lips when I felt something wrap around my neck, and I was pulled with such great force that I couldn't even scream. I found myself kneeling on the ground, and around me were two more people, sitting and staring at me.
My heart began thumping in my chest. Dragon Sovereign wasn't amongst them, so what would I do? Will they harm me? But this was his chamber?
“Mother,” another feminine voice mentioned, and I happened to raise my face, only to see that she was the female who came into the cell with that fiancée of Dragon Sovereign and the one who had just opened the door for me. How didn't I recall who she was immediately? She looked so cruel with that white hair like a grandma who was due to die.
I pouted. If she were a human, having white hair meant that she was old enough to die. But she looked very young and even beautiful with that hair color.
She pointed at me and scoffed, “She's the one Irian complained of, and I bet that she spellbound my brother. If not, on whose authority is she here to see him as though she were a dragon living freely?”
“It takes the gods to soften the heart of Zaugustus before he allows an audience with me. So who are you to just show up?” his brother snarled, his voice sent chills down my body.
I didn't want to talk. Instead, I prayed that Dragon Sovereign would show up immediately so they wouldn't harm me, as I was the only one in the chamber. Not even his right-hand man, Orrifin, was in the show.
The mother stood up and walked towards me coldly. Each of her steps made me feel like a demon was coming closer to me, and the moment she reached, she raised her hand and flung it at my face, causing me to cut my tongue.
I gripped my cheek, tears gathering in my eyes.
“Today, I will put you where you belong,” she growled and gripped my collar. But that instant, I felt someone grip my waist, and my vision blurred. I felt as though I was in the air, because I wasn't seeing clearly.
By the time everything returned to normal, I exhaled, then looked down at my waist, and that arm was still there. “Dragon Sovereign?!” I mentioned and raised my face, only to lock eyes with him. I wasn't sure how, but I smiled at him, maybe because he came at the right time and took me away. “I came to see you and didn't know you weren't there.”
“Why not in your cell? Do you think captives parade like that?” he roared at me and let go of my waist. At that time, I looked around and found out we were standing on a very high cliff. My eyes widened in shock as I rushed to the edge and looked down, causing my body hair to stand. “Aren't you going to say why you came for me?” his voice made me flinch, and I finally turned and began returning to him again.
I lowered my face and asked, “What about my brother? Aren't you able to save him?”
“Do you want me to act rashly?” he asked, his gaze met with mine, and I shook my head. “Then you will have to exercise patience. The faes are expecting you, and wouldn't harm him until you show up. I'm organising a troupe to go after your realm secretly and get him out, but we don't need to act rashly, or they would kill him once they sense an attack.”
I breathed out and nodded. Provided he wasn't dead yet, I would be patient enough.
“So, what is that human doing here?” he asked again, and I pouted.
Wasn't he the cause?
“Do you know that she could be harmed because of you?”
“That's why I must pretend not to know her. If you had not mentioned that I would pay you back with money, she wouldn't have returned. So, I'm going to blame you,” I said, stepping back a bit.
How did I forget what he was? He flitted before me, and I found my body resting against his. “If I kill her, no one will find her corpse, since I am to blame.”
No! Why is he saying all that?
I shook my head, “But you caused it. You lied to me that I would pay you with money. Isn't it?”
His jaw clenched, and I even hated how I was acting. It was as though something in me was controlling me, and I didn't like it. I wasn't supposed to be mad at him, but I was, and didn't even care if he was pissed by what I said.
“If that's the case, then I could strangle her from here.”
“Don't you dare!!” I yelled, my eyes widening, and I pulled myself away from him. My chest rose and fell rapidly. I wanted to stop this, but couldn't, then I began feeling hot on my fingers once again. I raised my hands, and just like in the cell, peacock green smokes were leaving through my fingers, and my emotions were something I couldn't control.
I quickly hid my fingers behind me so he didn't see them, and I gazed at him again.
Already, his expression had softened, and he seemed interested in what was happening to me.
“Don't come closer! Just take me out of here!!” I snapped at him, chest tightening in anger. I didn't know how it was triggered.
But he approached me, his palm reached my jaw, and he raised it so much that I couldn't turn my face away. He leaned his face towards mine, causing my heart to race faster, and then I felt the softness of his lips on mine.
