Chapter 25 25
“You brought her here because I refused your offer. Isn't it? Why would you bring her knowing that she won't be safe?” I yelled at Perrin, tears gathered in my eyes. I knew that Ofelia could possibly find me, but not this early, because she was trekking and would certainly take breaks to rest most times.
Perrin didn't speak, instead she grabbed my hand and leaped. We dropped before a certain building, and seated there was Ofelia, drawing on the floor with a stick.
“Ofelia!!” I screamed and began rushing towards her. She dropped the stick she was holding and pulled me into an embrace. “Why did you do this? You shouldn't have taken this risk or even allowed her to bring you here.” I whispered to her, and she giggled.
When we pulled away from each other, she was smiling and holding my hands. “She didn't force me. I willingly followed her because I wanted to see you,” she explained, and I shook my head. The idea wasn't okay for me, because I hoped she would stay longer on the way, and maybe when she arrived, things could be a little better for me here as the Dragon Sovereign's slave.
I glared at Perrin, then turned to Ofelia. “Tell me, did she force you? Stop hiding the truth…”
“She didn't! How did you expect me not to be here?”
“Your parents should have stopped you.” I retorted, and she let go of my hand. “Lia, you have to begin going back before they find you. Dragon Sovereign lied so you could leave, and he would take me. I wasn't paying him back with money, but to be a slave here. I'm a fae, and you are a human, so return to your family.”
She shook her head repeatedly, walking back to the rock where she had been sitting. “I lied to my family that I was going to travel around with you, so I'm not going back. I will stay here with you, so I can keep my eyes on you. No one forced me here, I pleaded that she help me because I was tired of trekking,” she elaborated, and I snarled, going closer to her.
Perrin was just standing there, staring at us with both arms folded against her chest.
“So, what is the Dragon saying about your brother? Isn't he going to find him anymore?” Lia asked, and I pouted.
I didn't even know what to respond, because I hadn't spoken with Dragon Sovereign recently about my brother. One thing I knew was that the fae councils wouldn't execute him any longer until they found me.
“Lia, he is trying, but not too rashly, so they don't harm him. I hope soon he will be found." I simply said, and she nodded. “Then, let's talk about your return….”
“I'm not leaving! Do you think I'm joking?” she screeched at me and scowled. “That lady is going to get me a job, one that will keep me close to you. Of what use am I in my realm? Even the king doesn't know that I'm not there,” she gestured, making a long face like we were foes.
I stood up, placed my palms on my waist, and then turned to Perrin. “Don't find her any job. Just take her to where you met her.”
But Perrin shook her head, “I don't take people against their will. Did I do so to you?”
“The situation is different. She doesn't have a choice right now and needs to live.”
“Who said that I don't have a choice? I seriously want to see that Dragon again, so I will know how much he has changed.” Lia chipped in, now on her feet.
Perrin smiled and shrugged her shoulders, “I hope you can stand him when you see him? If you quiver, there's a penalty for it.”
“Then, just get me a job. He's of no use to me…”
“Are you talking ill of my Sovereign?” Perrin frowned and flitted towards Lia, but I rushed and obstructed her. “Get out of the way. No one talks ill of my ruler.”
I shook my head, "That's the same thing Dragon Sovereign did to me, bringing me here and not telling me the rules. Since you brought her, what about giving her time to accommodate? You need to tell her the rules too…”
“Are all dragons like this? Look how she's changed just now.” Lia whispered to me, and I was seriously scared too, because even though Perrin had saved my life twice, she still could hurt someone when they piss her off. “Get away from me. I'm supposed to protect you.”
Ofelia was so crazy. If I had my fae powers, I was supposed to protect her instead.
“Hey, dragon female, are you gonna get me the job?” Lia said from behind, and I wanted to punch her lips. “Please help me find a job, even if you're going to take a percentage from it monthly. I just need to be close to my friend.”
I turned and glared at her, but she rather arched her brows.
Perrin took a good look at us and said, “I would have picked interest in you if you were a fae.”
Lia wrapped her arms around my waist, “What does she mean?” she asked, and I shook my head. It's very okay that she's only interested in a fae, so Ofelia was free from her desire. “Does she mean she will get me the job?” Lia asked again, and I was getting pissed as she had just turned talkative at this critical time.
“Yeah! I will do it because of your fae friend.” Perrin responded to her and walked past us.
My shoulders dropped, and I let out a heavy breath. I turned to Lia and cupped her face with my palms, “You have to stay here, so I will speak to her about your accommodation.”
She smiled because she finally won. “Alright!”
I walked faster and met up with Perrin before she entered the building, but she didn't even glance at me and walked in. Just as the door shut, she turned to me and pulled me closer to herself. I couldn't fathom what was going on until she pressed her lips on mine, kissing me ravenously with so much hunger.
It was cringy. I wanted to push her away, but I recalled Lia and, of course, how she had just saved my ass in the throne room, so I held up, hoping that she would get away from me so soon.
When she felt she had gotten satisfied with the taste of my lips, she pulled away and turned her back to me. I sensed she was feeling guilty for what she had just done, while I felt so dirty that he did that.
“It's okay to be mad at me, but I couldn't hold it any longer. I just envy that human female, because if I were this close to you, staring at you for so long could satiate my hunger for you,” she stated, and then finally turned to me. “Are you mad at me? I was created this way, and there are many more people around the world, even in the fae realm like I am, but most of them would hide to avoid being criticised.”
I shook my head. It was high time I got used to it already.
Even Dragon Sovereign knows about her, so who am I to judge her? She was simply craving me, and I wasn't giving it back, and it hurt me, because I wouldn't ever desire my fellow female.
“When you become the Sovereign's slave, a lot will change about you. With how he glared at me upon seeing us together, I guess you're going to be more than a slave….”
I squinted, “What do you mean? Isn't a slave more like a servant any longer?”
“Why did you follow me here?” she asked, ending the discussion she had just brought up that was confusing.
I licked my lips and responded, "It's about my friend. Do you have any idea where she could stay?”
She rolled her eyes and shook her head, “Unless she can stay here and take care of the house. It's my home, and I also stay in the mountains sometimes."
“But you're a fire dragon…”
She nodded, “The mountain is close to the sky.”
“Then…” I paused, unsure if she would be able to grant me my wish now. For some seconds, I couldn't speak, and kept waiting for me to do so. “Can you take me to the Dragon Sovereign?”
She lit up her lashes, “What? Why?”
