Chapter 278 Finding the Family Heirloom
Chapter 278 Finding the Family Heirloom
The next second, toxic gas began seeping out from all sides. Ivy said coldly, "Hold your breath. Don't worry about anything, just charge forward. The corridor isn't that long, twenty meters at most. Once we're through, we're clear."
Derek and Philip quickly covered their noses and mouths, ducked low, and rushed forward behind Ivy.
Those mere twenty meters felt like an eternity. A few seconds later, the three of them finally made it through the depths of the corridor and reached the other side.
Only then did they allow themselves to breathe.
Derek said softly beside them, "Oh my God, that was terrifying. The gas came out of nowhere. If we'd actually inhaled it, there would've been no saving us!"
Ivy lowered her hand and waved away the air in front of her nose, saying coldly, "Relax. There's no more gas here. We're now in the heart of Anso's treasure vault."
With Ivy's words, the two men finally realized where they were. They immediately looked around, only then seeing the countless treasures piled up on all sides!
Philip exclaimed, "My God, even I've never seen this many priceless things before."
Derek excitedly picked up a diamond bracelet and said happily, "Whoa. I think I saw this at a museum once—it was later stolen. This should be from the Farendor Museum! It's probably worth over a hundred million by now."
After setting the bracelet down, Derek rushed over to another spot and shouted, "Oh my God, isn't this the final painting left behind by that late master? This painting was auctioned off for two hundred million and bought by some collector. But during the handoff, it vanished into thin air. A lot of people said it must've been targeted by the master thief back then. I can't believe it ended up here!"
After that, Derek seemed to spot something else. He hurried to the side, jumping and shouting, "Oh my God, oh my God! I've seen this sculpture before too. I heard it was made by a famous artist. My God, everything here is stolen treasures from all over the world. Just one of these things is worth tens of millions!"
While Derek marveled in excitement, Philip furrowed his brow and said slowly, "Forget about all that. Hurry up and find the Green family heirloom."
The Green family heirloom was a small cup carved from gemstones, passed down through several generations of family heads.
It had been stolen during Philip's grandfather's generation. At the time, the Green family had searched for it for a long time but never found it.
They'd only heard by chance that it might have been sold to Anso.
That was when the Green family stepped forward, hoping to buy it back.
Ivy also looked around the treasure vault, then said to Philip, "Don't worry. There's a lot of stuff here. Take your time searching. We should be able to find it."
The three of them fell silent and began rummaging through the treasures.
But Anso's treasure room wasn't that large to begin with. Even after a full hour of searching, they still hadn't found it. This left Philip feeling dejected. "Could it be that the heirloom was never in Anso to begin with?"
At that thought, Philip sighed again, seeming to accept the reality. After all, when they couldn't find it before, they'd only heard rumors that the heirloom might be in Anso. No one had ever confirmed it.
Derek tried to comfort him. "Mr. Green, don't say that yet. Maybe if we keep looking, we'll find it."
Another half hour passed. Just as Philip was growing frustrated and desperate, he suddenly heard.
"Look, is this your family heirloom?"
Ivy spoke from behind him. Philip quickly turned and walked toward her. She was holding a small box in her hands. The box looked worn, even battered and damaged.
But the moment she opened it, a beautifully carved small cup appeared inside.
Philip took one look and immediately exclaimed, "That's it, that's it! Oh my God, I already searched this area several times and didn't see it. Ivy, how did you find it?"
Philip excitedly took the small box, examining it from every angle. He pulled out the heirloom and inspected it carefully. After confirming that it was indeed the item he'd been searching for all these years, he immediately exclaimed, "We finally found it, we finally found it! Ivy, I owe all of this to you!"
Standing beside them, Derek said in disbelief, "But I've already searched this area twice. Ms. Cooper, how did you find it?"
Ivy pointed to a stool in the corner and said, "The box was wedged underneath that stool, so you didn't see it. At a glance, you only noticed the stools themselves."
Hearing this, Philip immediately said, "My God, no matter what, the fact that we found it is all thanks to you, Ivy! If you ever need anything from me, just say the word. Whatever you want, just ask. As long as I can do it, no, even if I can't, I'll make it happen for you!"
Ivy shook her head and said, "Forget it. As long as you can lure Moss out, that'll be enough."
Holding the heirloom, Philip examined it from every angle, overjoyed. Then he suddenly remembered something and said, "Oh, right. Earlier you said you were framed and killed. Now that this treasure vault has been opened, will Moss know about it?"
Philip seemed to have hit on something important. Ivy sneered and said, "Moss shouldn't know the specific details about Anso. At most, he knows it exists. So right now, he probably doesn't know that I've already opened it and taken what's inside. But my goal is to draw him out. If that's the case, I have to make sure he knows that Anso has been opened."
Philip tilted his head, looking somewhat worried. "But Ivy, when I contacted Moss before, he never gave me a clear response. These past few days, though, he's clearly answered me and said he'll take my job."
Ivy sneered coldly and said, "That's because Farendor's Queen Elowen shut down the factory over there. Moss's latest major job was at that factory. Now that his job's been interrupted and he has no income, naturally he'll take yours."
Philip's eyes widened. After taking a moment to process this, he finally said, "What? You actually have a connection to Farendor's Queen Elowen? Ivy, what else don't I know about you?"
Philip used to think Ivy was just a young woman who was a little more capable than most. But now, Ivy far exceeded his imagination.
