Chapter 64

Rebecca's POV.

I had fallen asleep for a moment, finding comfort in the chair. I heard Ryder leaving and wanted to shout for him to stay, but I just couldn’t make myself wake up enough to even open my eyes. It wasn't too long before I felt someone holding me. I was starting to feel a little better as they kept whispering into my ear. When I finally had enough strength to open my eyes, Meriwether was here, healing me. I was so thankful for her that words could not convey what I wanted to say.

I realized Jack still wasn't back, and Oliver was on the couch cuddled up to Iris sleeping. They had positioned themselves just right, that no one would even know who they were when they walked in. I didn't know how this reunion was going to go, but I hope everyone is happy to see each other. I heard the door to the library opening and looked up to see Jack with Nathan and Lolina in tow. This was good. Now to just wake up the sleeping couple.

" Sorry it took so long Luna. I stopped off to check on a couple things that couldn't wait. Where's Brett and Ryder? There wasn't any trouble was there? And why is Meriwether healing you? Great, let me guess, the rogue attacked you, is that it? I really thought we could trust him. DAMN IT!!" I really wish Jack wouldn't jump to conclusions.

" Calm down there man. Ryder went with Brett to go get Becca some food. Her body was trying to give out on her because of all the strength she's used today. Her energy level is a bit low, but she'll be ok. Meri has done what she can, now she just needs to eat, and take it easy the rest of the night. She's not to lift a finger for any reason, or I've threatened to take her back to the clinic where I will sedate her and make her sleep." Grant gave me the look that said he meant he wasn't joking.

" Relax, eat, and not lift my fingers, I got it. Though I refuse to not go to the bathroom on my own, and I'll be damn if anyone feeds me. So other than those two things, we're good." That'll show em.

" So, who is that sleeping on the couch? Do they need healing as well?" Meriwether was up and ready to check on them.

" Actually, just a sec Meri. Let them sleep a moment longer. I don't think they've had a good night's rest in a few years. There's something that I need to talk to you about. Lolina, you and Nate need to hear this, Jack, you too. Please come sit quietly while I explain." I waited patiently for them to gather around. Their eyes fixated on the couple with curiosity written all over them.

" I don't want any of you freaking out and yelling and screaming. I don't need you scaring them to death. You should know that they have been part of Darius's rogue pack for the last twenty-one years. They've been beaten down, physically, mentally, and emotionally. If it wasn't for the rogues Beta, they might not have survived this long. Ryder, like so many others, had been taken from his pack and forced to become a rogue by Darius. I saw the memories, they were horrible. I ask that you don't blame Ryder. He wanted nothing to do with any of this. That being said, Grant, will you wake up my guests?" He went over to the couple slowly.

" Umm, hello there, I'm Dr. Grant Nichols. Wake up please. I need to examine you both. Hello?" He shook them gently.

They sat up slowly, revealing their faces. When Lolina saw them, she started crying. She was frozen in her spot from shock, I couldn't blame her really. She thought her brother and sister-in-law had died twenty-one years ago.

" Rebecca, please tell me I'm not seeing things. That is who I think it is right?" She asked as she pointed at them, crying even more.

" Yes Lolina, it is. Just remember they've been through a lot. Just go easy on them." I smiled at her as she started hugging Nathaniel.

" Oh, my Goddess Nate, it's Oliver and Iris. I have my brother and sister back. They're here, they're right here." Nathaniel sat Lolina into a chair across from her family.

I watched as Oliver looked around the room and found his sister sitting across from him. He started crying as he got up and went to her. He fell down in front of her, laying his head in her lap. He grabbed her and started crying even more.

" Lolina, is it really you? Please be real this time. Iris, it's Lolina, my dear darling sister. Oh, to the Goddess how I've missed you." And he just stayed there, hugging his sister and crying.

" Look Oliver, it's Nathaniel, and Meriwether is here. Oh, Meriwether my dearest friend I have missed you so much." Iris shot up and ran to Meri. As they grabbed each other in a tight embrace, the laughter started.

They were all so happy to be together again. It did my heart good to see the excitement growing in the room. The only one that seemed to not be celebrating was Jack. He had found a corner to hide in, sitting there trying not to cry. I wasn't sure why he was so down.

Meriwether came back to my side for a little more healing while everyone was catching up. That's when the door the opened. Ryder was back with food, thank the Goddess. Brett walked in to join the festivities, but Ryder didn't move. Something Alpha Nick had said distracted me for a second, when I looked back, my food was sitting next to me, but Ryder was gone. Why did he leave? Maybe he decided being here was too much. I couldn't accept that! I started to get up, but my body wasn't having it.

" Oh no you don't. You sit right there. Ryder said you're not allowed to lift a finger. What do you need? I'll get it for you, just tell me." Great, now I'm being babied.

" Ryder, where did he go? He needs to be here. Will someone go find him, please?" I hope he'll come back.

" I'll go get him; you just sit there." Brett walked out to go find him.

" Iris, what can you tell about him? How can I get through to him? He protected all of you the best he could, it's time that he sees he deserves something good in his life." I really was at my wits end.

" I don't know you. All I know is that you are a part of Darius's pack. You must be one of the ones against him or you wouldn't have reunited me with my last remaining family. All I can say, Ryder hates himself for the things he was forced to do. He wants redemption, but he'll never believe he's earned it. I tell him every day that he's appreciated. He just doesn't want to believe it. I don't know if he ever will." There has to be a way.

" Iris, there's something you should know. My mate, Jared, the new Alpha of the Four Prairies pack, has been injured badly tonight. Darius took a silver knife that was imbued with wolfsbane and Deadly Nightshade. Grant how is he?" I was hoping for good news.

"Thanks to you, he's going to make it. I'm of course going to keep him and your father under heavy sedation tonight so they can heal properly, but I'll wake them up tomorrow. I want to keep them the day, get food in them and make sure there's no relapse, but they should be able to go home tomorrow." Not thanks to me, thanks to Lycaon.

" What exactly does your Alpha have to do with me? Don't get me wrong, I'm sorry he's hurt, but it's all irrelevant compared to what's going to happen if we don't make it back to our camp before Darius. There are omegas there, and children. Hell, Ryder's sister it still there. So why do I care about your Alpha?" It's very sad, but I don't think she likes me.

" Because he isn't Jared. His real Name is Nikeeto. He's your son. Jack here, with the help of Meriwether, made sure he survived. If it wasn't for them, Jared wouldn't have made it this far." Tears formed in her eyes.

" My son is alive? Are you sure it's him? I mean, Darius told us he killed him. He said if we didn't do what we were told, he would go back and kill Nathaniel, Lolina, and Meriwether too. Oliver, by the Goddess, our son is alive." She broke down into tears, at least these could be happy tears.

" Rebecca, you need to eat. I'll take them to Jared while you do. If you don't get your strength up soon, I'm admitting you into the clinic. Do you understand me young lady?" He gave me a wink and head towards the door.

" Thank you, Grant. Stop by the kitchen on the way to let them know how many plates need to be sent over. Make sure everyone gets one." Then he disappeared with Iris and Oliver in tow.

" I think I'm going to go look for Brett and see if he's found Ryder yet. Then we'll set something up to go get the rest of the rogue pack. Hopefully it's not too late." Jack still had that sadness in his heart.

" They'll be okay now Jack. I saw how happy they were to see you guys. They don't blame you for any of this. Go do what needs done. I'm going to eat and possibly try to rest." I smiled at him, but he left without another word.

Once they were gone, I realized it was just Meriwether and Alpha Nick left in the room. Surely there must be something they'd rather be doing than babysitting me. I remembered earlier that I had to heal Oliver in the cells. I'm not sure why, but I have a feeling it might be because of the guards. I needed to prevent anything else from happening.

" Alpha, would you do me a favor please? Send a few of your men to the cells to help guard the rogues. Make sure they know that they aren't to be harmed unless necessary. And if any tries to hurt any of them, they have my permission to stick that wolf into a cell until I can deal with them." I didn't want to let on that I didn't trust those guards.

" I've already done that Luna. After seeing Oliver like that, I thought it best to make sure that no one else needed medical attention. I told them to go through each cell, and if anyone else was injured, to get them to the clinic." He must have had the same idea as me.

" Okay good. I guess the only thing left for right now is to make sure everyone gets fed." I might be able to rest tonight after all.

" It's being taken care of Luna. There was a shortage of food in the kitchen, so I sent some of my people to town. Nick, do you think you can send a couple of your guys with mine to go get some bears and deer?" Brett was walking back in.

" I thought you would have found Ryder by now. What happened?" I looked curiously around him.

" Oh, I found him. He was trying to slink out. He's with Jack right now gathering men to go get the rest of the rogues. They didn't want to take any chances, just in case Darius already made it back there. I also took the liberty of asking some of your omegas that weren't busy in the kitchen to load up the food, blankets, and some books and magazines into my truck outside. I figured with some help I'll drive it all down as soon as it's loaded." The things I let slip my mind.

" I would like to say thank you, to both of you. I appreciate all your help with this. After I get done tomorrow with Grant, I'd like to start making up files for all the rogues. I don't want to have to split them up, but we just don't have the room here for all of them. Not without some major house building. Even then, it would take time. I'm sure they don't want to live in the cells while they wait. Plus, some of them might not feel so safe here, if they don't have family elsewhere, perhaps you guys could handle some new pack members?" I had to make sure they all had a place to go.

" We had already planned on it Luna. With Ryder's help, we can figure out where everyone can go, and which ones need to stay in the cells until we can figure out what we plan to do with them." I wonder how many of them have gone bad.

" Perfect, then I guess I'll finish eating and try to sleep. Please, make sure to have a guard come in if you leave. I don't know how many secret passages are in this house. I don't want to take any chances. And leave the door cracked please, this room is soundproofed." I didn't think I needed to worry, but better safe than sorry.

" Of course, Luna, you just try to get a little sleep. We can handle things until morning." Meriwether covered me up with a blanket and they all left the room. Soon enough my belly was full, and I was drifting off to sleep.
