Chapter 61

Author's POV.

"Becca wake up! Grant, what's wrong with her? Why won't she wake up?" There was worry in Carly's voice.

"I have no idea. She didn't get cut with the blade. And there's no evidence that this is airborne. I'm going to have to run some tests to find out. It looks like she's starting to come to though." Yes, she certainly was waking up.

The room was bright, and it took Becca a few moments to adjust to the lights. When she could finally see, she looked around the room and noticed everyone was watching her closely.

"What's going on? Why are you all staring at me?" She thought about the reality of her being here, in this room, the whole time she was talking to Lycaon.

"You passed out Becca. We've been trying to wake you up for fifteen minutes. Now no getting up. You just sit there until Grant can get you admitted. Mom said this is the second time this has happened in the last few days. That means you stay here. We'll take care of everything that needs to be done." She couldn't believe they were trying to ground her.

"I am fine. I just need to eat. I've used a lot of magic today; it just took its toll on me. The passing out had nothing to do with my health though. It was the first Father Earth coming to speak to me. Grant, to help Jared and dad, you need an antidote for nightshade." No one moved, they just continued to stare.

"Nightshade couldn't have this effect Becca, you still would have been able to heal Jared. Yes, it's poisonous to humans, but not to wolves." She knew the truth, now to get Grant to listen to her.

"Aussie, go into the city and retrieve the antidote for them. I'm telling you Grant, it's nightshade. The silver and wolfsbane is keeping the wolf from healing, with the human side poisoned, the body cannot draw in enough energy to heal both sides. Lycaon told me this. You must believe me." Grant looked skeptical, however, he agreed to try it.

"Hurry Aussie, we don't have much time. Please be as fast as you can. We need our Alpha and Beta back in the land of the living." Aussie ran out of the room as fast as he could.

"Where's Jack? I need him to act as Alpha until Jared is better." Becca knew he would help her.

"He went out to make sure all of the rogues were taken to the cells. We can't trust to have them running around loose. Their Beta isn't very happy about it. I think he realized it was his only choice, if he didn't want his pack annihilated. As soon as his wounded are healed, we'll move them over. We've let their healers help us, so far so good. There were only about twenty killed. Fifteen on their side and five on ours. There are still quite a few that may not make it through the night, on both sides." Grant felt bad for the fallen wolves, pack or rogue.

"Then Bryon, would you get Jack and their Beta over to the pack house. We have a lot to discuss. I don't want you going out alone, take Garrett or Josie with you, or both. I don't trust that Darius isn't still here somewhere. He could be hiding, just waiting to take any of us out." Becca didn't really think he was around anymore, but she didn't want to chance it.

"I can do that. I'll take them to the library though. With there being a hidden passageway in the office, I don't want any surprises." Even with the battle over, everyone was still on high alert.

"Mom, I hate to ask, but is there any way to get the omegas together to start feeding people. I want everyone fed and recharged. I don't want to take any chances, just in case there are more rogues out there waiting to attack." Plus, Becca realized she was starving.

"Of course dear, everything should be done cooking now." Everyone was leaving the room except for Grant.

"So, you want to tell me what's really going on? I know there's a lot you're not saying." He raised his eyebrow in questioning her.

"Darius knows the ancient ways. That's how he knew to add nightshade to the blade. Father Earth said we won't be finding him any time soon. I ask him why he had taking me to the dream realm to speak to me. He said he didn't, that my pups had brought us there. I'm pregnant Grant, with twins. Don't say anything to anyone, not yet." She knew everyone would make a fuss about it and not let her do anything.

"I won't say a word, but I want you in here tomorrow for full checkup. I can't have my Luna risking her wellbeing over pack politics. The stress is not good for you or the babies." She knew he was right.

"Of course, and I will be here first thing when I wake up tomorrow, no excuses. Right now, I have to deal with the rogue issue. I think I know how, but I'm not sure it will work. I may need you later my warrior. Just be ready if I call." Becca gave Grant a hug and walked out of the room.

Just down the hall was Stephanie's room. Becca looked in on her sleeping peacefully. In just a couple days Grant would wake her up. Becca feared telling her about what's to come. But it was Steph's choice on what to do. Becca quickly made her way to the clinic exit. She didn't want to leave alone, but there was no other choice. That was, until she saw Nick and Brett. She realized that they needed to be there as well. This rogue pack threatened their packs just as much as they had hers.

"Can I borrow the two of you for a while? We have business at the pack house that needs to be dealt with. I would really like your input on a few details." Becca had her ideas on how she wanted to handle everything, but she needed details first.

"Of course, Luna, we really need to discuss what to do with the rogues, among other things. The good news is, without Darius here to get in the way, it won't take long for a resolution to be put in place."

"Brett's right, and we'll do everything we can to help you. I don't think we should be making any rash decisions tonight though. I know you're worried about Jared and Liam, but let's not try to do anything that's too hasty. We have the packs to think about." Rebecca wondered if he thought she was going to slaughter the rogues with the way he said that.

"Well of course not. My interest in this is for all wolves. By the way, don’t forget we still have all that food so we can try to gather some energy. You know, just in case. Jack should already be in the library with the rogue Beta, Ryder. I want to know what it was he was hoping to gain by helping Darius. Perhaps some insight might help me make up my mind on what to do. We just need to make do with what we can get." Nick and Brett were both impressed with her answer.

"Well, let's do this. I hope Ryder is in a cooperative mood. He doesn't seem like a very friendly person. Maybe he's calmed down a bit." Becca could only hope.
