Chapter 57

Jared's POV.

After Becca left, I cleaned up the kitchen and went for a shower. We would be leaving soon to gather up the rogues. I just hoped we could get them before they tipped off Darius. I think we had enough people to do this, with help from the other packs. The list contained roughly twenty-five people we needed to haul off to the cells, this didn't include the children. I felt bad for having to take the kids down to the cells, but we couldn't take any chances. Becca would be able to sort through who would be safe to release or keep. The rest would have to be put down for everyone's safety. That being the part of the Alpha's job I wasn't necessarily going to like.

Grant got here before anyone else, with the wolfsbane we would need. This way there wouldn't be a lot of yelling and screaming to attract attention. As soon as everyone got here, we had to figure out how we were going to do this. It's not like we could just call them to ask for them to come over four at a time. We decided on one block at a time. With four to five families on each we only needed to take three of the vans. That wasn't so bad. It would probably take all day though.

By the time we got through collecting the rogues on the first block and getting them to the cells, it was almost lunchtime. Liam called Carly to let her know we couldn't make it over, but she would send someone to grab us some sandwiches and chips if she could get enough ready for the ten of us.

We sent Garrett to grab the lunch while we caught up another block of rogues. We took turns eating while still on knocking on doors. Soon enough, we only had one more block to go. It was almost three, but we had to finish. We had made it to the last house when Liam's phone rang. He didn't look very happy when he saw who was calling. It wasn't until he answered the phone that I understood why.

"Alpha Darius, is there something wrong? No Alpha, I haven’t seen those files. Yes, I can be there in about twenty minutes. Of course I can find one. How soon do you need it? Tomorrow? No that's not a problem. Of course, I can get them together by then. No sir I haven't heard from them. I'll call them tonight and have them meet with us in the morning. Yes, of course. As soon as I figure out where, I'll have the keys. Not a problem at all. Okay, I'll see you in twenty. Yes Alpha, bye." He looked like he just got hit by a semi.

"What was that all about? He hasn't found out what we're doing, has he?" That could ruin everything.

"I don't think so, but it's just as bad. He wants the Elders in to see him first thing tomorrow morning. We're supposed to have another couple joining the pack. He's asked me to find housing for them and have it ready by Tuesday morning. How am I going to explain the Elders not being there?" This is not good at all.

"So, I guess the plan is changing. I'm going to have to challenge him tonight. Can we get everyone together that soon? I want the whole pack there to witness this, so they know who he really is." They needed to see what he's capable of.

"Of course we can do that. The question is, are you going to have enough energy? We've had a long day today." Maybe if I take a nap.

"I'm going to have to. There's no way around this. If I don't, we lose. Looks like they got the last one. I guess just drop me off at the house. Everyone can all meet me there. You go deal with Darius. I'll call Becca and let her know what's going on. I'll take a nap and get some food, that should give me the energy I need. At least I hope so. Just get back when you can. I'm thinking we should be ready to go by at least ten. Just please make sure I'm awake by nine." I can do this.

"Sounds like a plan. Just make sure you do your fair share of prayers. We need the Moon Goddesses blessings for this. She'll see you through this." She's already blessed me with so much.

We got the last of the traitors to the cells. Liam told everyone to go back to his place because of the change in plans. I was left to explain to everyone what was happening. Jack wasn't exactly happy about this, but he was with me on the decision. Alpha Vega sent Luna Violet and Grant to get the Patients out of the area. I told him Josie would be sent out as soon as she got back. So much to do in so little time. Sharon and my mom took Luna Paige to start getting all the kids and older wolves to the safe room. I told my dad to go, but he refused.

"I may be just a human, but I'm not letting this pack down. I know you have weapons on the way, right Jack? Give me guns and I can get to a window up on the top floor of the pack house. Mother Moon has a protection spell on me, now I'm gonna protect her." My dad made me think of a spoof Rambo. I couldn't help but laugh at the thought.

I left Jack in charge of everything else while I went to go get a nap in to recover at least some of my energy. I had been lying on the bed, trying to sleep, for a few minutes when I felt someone sit down.

"Jared dear, I have given you all the blessings I can for the things you must do. I cannot help anymore." Celeste talked so quiet I almost didn't hear her.

"I understand. I'm so thankful for everything you have done for me my Goddess. I finally feel whole with a place I belong. I know there is going to be a battle. Somehow the rogues will get word to attack. I truly am sorry Mother Moon, there will be death, you're going to lose some of your children. If I can prevent the war from happening, trust I will do everything in my power to stop it. I just hope you can forgive me in my part of all of this if I can't stop it. I know this can't be easy for you. I think I get why you don't interfere. It's because you don't want to show favoritism amongst all your children. It's because you love us all equally, no matter what we've done." How am I so full of this weird wisdom?

"You are starting to sound like a true Father Earth. I may not be able to give you more blessings, but I can tell you a bit about Father Earth Lore. Yes, he was my mate. He was taken from me before he could find his heir. He had his own set of magic. When he needed an energy boost, he drew it from the earth, he could partially transform as well. He was an amazing wolf, and he would be proud having you as his heir. Now rest child." And with a flash of blue lighting up the room, she was gone.

I had only slept for three hours when I woke up in a panic. I was having a bad dream about the pack being attacked and everyone was dying around me. I was frozen unable to do anything to help them. Then Darius started sweeping his way towards me, teeth clenched and claws out. The last thing I remember before waking up, Rebecca dying at my feet as Darius slashed into my chest.

Sweat was pouring down my face and I couldn't shake this eerie feeling that something was coming. We had to do something now. I took a quick shower and washed up before heading downstairs. Everyone was there arguing over what we should do. I couldn't even hear myself think. I walked closer into the room and gave out a loud whistle.

"Enough. We have our plan. We stick to our plan. Only we need to execute it sooner than we thought. But it's still our plan. Josie, you need to call Grant, find out where to meet up with him. Garrett, why don't you go too. Grant has to worry about keeping his patients stable, he shouldn't have to worry about protection too. Liz, I need you to help protect the kids. I know you don't want to be on the sidelines, but I trust you, your one of our best. If any of the rogues do break through, I want to know there's someone there that can take them. Alpha Brett, is there someone you trust that can help out at the safe room? I really don't want to take a chance of them getting blindsided." I don't know where all this leadership skill stuff is coming from.

"I have two guards that I can send with Liz, and two more with Josie if you want. Just tell me what you want, and I'll make it happen Alpha Jared." Wow, I was not expecting that.

"I'm not Alpha yet but thank you for the confidence. I want everyone else at the bonfire area when I challenge Darius. I want you behind me Liam. Bryon and Aussie, I want you both on either side of him. Rebecca, you are to stand by my side until he comes to fight. Then I want you back by your dad." I was on a roll.

"Anything else Alpha?" I don't want to miss anything.

"Luna Alexandria will be with us I do believe. It is her right to be there. Protect her at all costs. Alex, if the rogues show up, you can choose to fight with us, or go to the safe room. But I want her protected as well as Rebecca. If we are attacked, Rebecca can help with protection spells and disenchantment as well, but she can't fight at the same time. So, Liam, Bryon, and Aussie, protect my mate. You all know the rules, no interference unless he's cheating. Even then, wait for my go ahead. Do not let him run. One way another, this all ends tonight! I do want to say thank you Alpha Vega and Alpha Calloway, we couldn't do this without your help. It will be an honor to fight by your side. You as well Jack. I want you by my side when I challenge Darius. You deserve to be close enough to see the fear in his eyes. Although he's probably going to think it's a joke until he sees you. He has no idea I have my wolf. That's my advantage." Oh, what an advantage it is.

"May the Goddess bless us all in this battle, and may she grant us the strength and wisdom to do what is right. May she guide us by eyes and by heart to a victory in the name of all free packs. May she bless everyone on both sides and allow all fallen a place by her side in the heavens. And may Father Earth be with us in this fight, giving us strength and endurance. May he bless us all and help up to show mercy against those that would harm us." What would he say if he knew?
